      I been having a rough day dude and I was working a lot plus tired and then went to BJJ and felt like I forgot everything I was tired and was wearing that shitty gi while my other guy was wasn't because he forgot and we were practicing and all I had was my weight and was easier for him to just grab my go and pull me away then I had to roll still wearing my gi and managed to get his back and get the chance to get a arm bar but decided not to because I was just too tired today I had a test at school and was walking home and it was raining so I didn't even feel hyped or excited I when I came I just felt like shit and sad and feel like people are asking too much of me but don't want to let them down but I feel like people are just going all at me plus I don't get to go as much as I use to sometimes I wish I can just be alone forever and everyone will just leave me in peace so I can get my shit together instead of everyone just wearing me out

    this is definitely a great help to me. i'm a white belt and i struggle with the side mount/control escapes. most of the videos i watched before was just showing how to escape the side mount/control. they don't show what to do when someone applies a lot of pressure and how to put your arms in position again. that's why I'm really happy when i saw this video because it explains how to really escape the side mount/control

    Being in the bottom, especially in side control
    Will help you understand when and how to breath, relax, explode, frame, scape...
    It’s ok to be in the bottom sometimes, especially as a lower rank. It helps you get used to be in a bad position.

      And also if you are a heavy weight, people forget, when you are heavy and someone is on top of you even if they are lighter it's hard too move your body and there's especially if they know how to manipulate there weight good!

    I really like these explanations. It derails The illusion that you can escape with just one big frame, bump and shrimp. Gotta create some momentum. Love this channel. Hadn't seen this video. Much love and respect to you homies!

    • @af4396
      @af4396 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If someone's teaching side control escapes with bump and shrimp... that's not a good teacher lol. Bumping and rotating can be used to get elbows in, but it'll never work to just bump anyone. In a good side control, you won't even start with a frame. You need to get your frame first. And that's the hardest part.

  • @errcoche

    I would add that it is important to let yourself be put into side control by partners who aren't quite your level, perhaps when you are tired as Richie mentions, so that you are used to being here and can drill your escapes and disruptive techniques so that they are honed for when you are the nail and taking the hammering. I actually love being on bottom of side control and often just let my guard be passed. I also see it as a way of letting my partners at the gym get lots of practice in on the offensive aspects. I make sure not to just "go foetal" and put my hands at my neck - I hate it when my partner just shuts down and tries to barely survive.

    Alrighty. I'm a 14 year old girl. Have been doing BJJ for ~6 months (finally got a black sleeve!), and then, just out of nowhere, this 14 y/o boy comes into class being a noob and stuff, and he learned side control that class, and he just _gets_ me in it. It's super tight. I could not do anything to get out of that (not even to mention the fact that he pinned my arms down from mount for most of the round 😬)
    And yeah, that's why I'm here today. If a first timer can beat me, that's my own problem. That's why I'm here, so I can learn from my mistakes and strengthen my weaknesses.

      you don't start rocking, you start by trying to get your position back. the rocking is done when there's no room to get your position back.
      either they will be off balanced making it hard to progress or they will give you the space to get your hands back into position. it will take time to know when to switch but overall should be safe.

    • @myjizzureye
      @myjizzureye 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never switch, I mean why am I paying good money to be dominated from the top to just switch mid way?
      All my best work is on the bottom, or up it to be more precise.

If you're going to do a video on escaping from bigger tougher guys, have a video showing you do your technique against bigger stronger guys. That's why I liked Richies examples vs a bigger stronger guy. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for posting.

    But when it's the other way around and I'm on top guys letteraly throw me away when I get side control.
    If you're 140 pounds rolling with 180 and above it's really pointless to take advice from big guys on escaping positions.
