nashville was treating him terribly during that period as thank god for rick rubin for those "american recordings" albums as it gave cash a new audience (myself included) and proved he was still the man in black.
Can't imagine not appreciating Johnny Cash of all people but Bob Dylan also had the electric incident at newport so really anybody can have the public turn on them regardless of how special and important they are to everyone.
Besides Johnny CASH delivers this Dylan tune so brilliantly I love the interview with David Letterman. He is so lovable and approachable in this. He has a wonderful personality. Thank you for the upload .
Authentic..My father's best friend while my father bedridden from a stroke. Never missed a Johnny Cash show. Only time my father, a big band era drummer, was at peace.
This is a man you can understand. I love the note Johnny sent to Tom after working him and The Heart Breakers. “ You’re A Good Man To Ride The River With, Johnny “.
Goosebumps listening to him perform this. Was hoping for a bit better of an interview at the end, not one of Dave’s best. He has definitely improved his interview skills over the years.
Saw Johnny and June Carter sing It Ain't Me Babe at the BobFest show the following night, they were great of course. Interestingly, his status wasn't as iconic as it has become in recent years; they were just on in the earlier part of the show and played one tune, whereas certain artists like Petty, Clapton, and George Harrison did two songs each.
@TurtleTimeVoiceOvers Yeah, I just watched, and it says it was up 1 hour ago. But some comments are from 1 day ago. ??? It's a damn shame. Should have millions of views.
Sorry Johnny Cash buy I think that Jessica rhaye and the Ramshackle parade sings it way better then you do. Will anyone listen to her? You won't regret her, her such a LOVELY VOICE WOMAN 😊😊
Johnny Cash, from the first day of his career to the last, was an original. And he's still the Man in Black
It's insane to think that Johnny Cash was considered to be somewhat of a has-been at the time. Guy was amazing.

Everything he sings always feels so genuine and sincere
A national Treasure and music legend. Very few can match his heartfelt delivery. I still miss him❤️
So thankful that I got to see Johnny live before he passed.
The GOAT
One of a handful of musicians to be in both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He certainly deserved it.
I was in the audience for this show and so amazed I saw this legend perform.
Legend
Pure class
Saw him on his last two tours. This is such a great performance.
There's something so incongruously awesome about this icon of country music having an apartment in NYC on Central Park South.
I had the honor of attending the Bob Dylan tribute Dave speaks of. A lifetime highlight to be sure.
the answer still blowing in the wind , but Johnny Cash music sure still living in my heart.
One of my favorite songs by one of the best
I don't care what people say, Dave's band was always a pleasure to what. Paul and the boys elevated the guests most of the time.

Great slide work by Sid - love his sound!

Inolvidable Johnny Cash

One of my very favourites yes Johnny Cash! Thank you for the treat!
Never ceased to amaze me, what passion
Love this guy!! Love bob dylan too!!
First saw him in Jamaica 1974.
Saw him 3 times in Miami including his last show.
I met the man. He came to the Salt Palace convention hall in Salt Lake for a concert in the 60's. My home town.
Goosebumps listening to him perform this. Was hoping for a bit better of an interview at the end, not one of Dave’s best. He has definitely improved his interview skills over the years.
Miss him.

I can't believe he just sang this once. It just sounds like something he'd sing
Rest in peace JC
Musical giant!

Quick Friday Request for Fountains of Waynes Stacy Mom on Letterman as it is one of my favourite Letterman performances

Jack Evans
Man in Black singing Dylan...... we didn't listen hard enuf back then...
Murica has sowed the wind & now the world reaps a whirlwind of death.....
Johnny Cash seems to me he is to music what Robert DeNiro is to acting.
smarter that dumba-Deniro
RIP Man in Black
Thank you Johnny. It was a nice cover for the greatest songwriter of all time!
I am amazed this only has 146 views. Some of my cooky videos have more than that and I’m not the legend that is Johnny Cash.
There weren't many views at that point, because it was only posted a few minutes before your comment.
Ha ha @@nostraa6125
@@nostraa6125 It had been up for almost two days. You can’t tell because the way they post these. Even now this video says it’s been up for one hour.

Oh Wow! Johnny Cash died. I did not not even hear of him being sick. Very sad. He was one of the best.
You're only 20 years behind the news, buddy!
He's been dead since Friday September, 12th, 2003. Yikes.....where have you been buddy? lol😅
In 2003 😆
