I'm lucky enough to get to drive my friends 2018 NSX (an NSX with upgrades to 700hp) and it's absolutely amazing and is 100% a supercar. It acceleration is amazing and it stays door-to-door with Porsche and McClaren. Even if it gets beat in the 1/4 mile - the difference is 100% insignificant, like 0.05 seconds. No consumer will ever notice that difference.

This new NSX IS forward thinking, especially with its hybrid powertrain. None of its competitors have such an advanced powertrain. That's where the soul of the original NSX carries over to this new gen

The NSX is, and always has been, a SUPERCAR! It is underrated because it is so livable and because it has no "European badging".
Like the original NSX the new one is technologically very advanced and VERY reliable. With its mid engine a dn 3 hybrid electric motors plus Super Handling AWD it is a technical tour-de-force. Plus, "It looks MAHEVELOUS DAHLING!"
Were it a Ferrari you would have to add another $70,000. minimum.

Having driven an NSX you simply wouldn’t buy a car like this to daily. If you can afford an NSX you should be able to afford a separate daily car. The whole point of the Quiet mode in the NSX is to drive the car to your favorite road or race track then dial it in to the faster mode. Having driven an NSX in Quiet mode it is one of the best attributes a supercar can feature. There’s nothing worse than having to put up with stiff suspension every where you drive slower (>90% of the time) until you get to your favorite road or race track. This is where the NSX truly shines. Drive in comfort until you get to the fun road or track and then dial it in to the higher mode to go fast. The NSX is most certainly not intended for being a daily!

The fact that Ferrari copied NSX layout with the SF90 shows that NSX was good from the word go. And if you think that SF90 costs 500K+ almost triple the price of the NSX for not triple the performance! Plus with the new McLearen Atura costing well over 200K this NSX makes a lot of sense! Money/performance vise the problem is badge snobbery. Honda/Accura isn't as wild as Lambo Ferrari McLearen or even Porsche. This car is another LFA in the making no one wanted one at the proce it was sold new cause it was more expensive then a 599 but look at them now LAF is an ican and 599 is just anoter discontinued front engine V12 Ferrari. You are right buy one now when they are still cheep and enjoy the car and sell it on in 10 years time for double what you paid for it.

TLDR: Acura blew it by offering a heavy hybrid that doesn't quite have the specs on paper to compete with primarily the 911, nor does it have the brand/model identity cool factor that Porsche/Audi/etc. have.
    Too many points to critique:
4:52; Infotainment system: my 2016 VW Golf has Apple Carplay and a larger screen. No excuse for a $160K car to not have Carplay/Android Auto from the get-go (2017), not to mention a larger screen. Also, when are the car manufacturers going to figure out that removing all the knobs and buttons for infotainment/HVAC SUCKS. Touchscreens are not the answer to everything.
6:30; Engine/Motors: this is where Acura totally blew it. They spent who knows how much on perfecting the engine-motor integration and ended up with a nearly 4000 pound porker of a sports car. How about a 3.5 liter twin turbo engine rated around 600HP/450 Lb-Ft with a curb weight at or below 3200 pounds, two wheel drive, and a price starting around $100K or so? Or, make it $120-$130K with gobs of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials. Also: get rid of the silly engine covers and let's see the hardware through the backlight!!!! (Ever looked through the rear window of a 360? Pure Mona Lisa art. This car? Pure.....plastic.)
8:25; A-pillars: This car hearkens back to the original via the.....wait for it.....A pillars?????!!!!!! Yeah, and a VW Bug must be similar to a 911 because of the air cooled engine. Again, Acura SHOULD have followed the same recipe on this 2nd gen as the first one: low weight, high power. The 1st gen was 3100 pounds. Think about that for a moment.
8:36: "Some people wanted something different and they didn't get it." Didn't get it as in go out and buy the thing, or didn't "get it" as in didn't understand what Acura was trying to accomplish? Either way, don't blame "people" for going elsewhere with their exotic/enthusiast car purchase. Acura seemed to not realize the market they were competing in. Enthusiasts at this level want something cool to show off. 911's/R8's/GTR's are known quantities that are seen as such. This NSX didn't come to the market with much in the way of credibility (too long a time gap from the original which never made a big splash in racing) so Acura had to make it on specs.....but didn't.
8:44: "Most livable car": that may be true, but most folks buying a car in this price range aren't buying a daily driver so "livable" doesn't matter. This car is for Saturday morning canyon carving, Saturday date night, and other special events. Not for schlepping to work M-F.
10:12: Trouble paying that much for an Acura: wrong. Ford got plenty of folks to line up and pay half a million for the GT. 'Nuff said.
Overall NSX problem: Acura tried to build a poor-man's everyday 918 and didn't realize they were answering a question no one was asking. They also built a car with very little personality (kind of par for the Honda car course). They built an excellent product as far as I can tell, but the fact that other cars edge it out on specs and/or brand identity put it between a rock and a hard place. Rich folks throwing down $160+ on a car (far more than that when you add in insurance, taxes, registration fees, etc.) are buying vanity on wheels and don't want something that their friends aren't going to recognize as cool, or at least see that it has the specs to compete. Honda needed to make a splash with this car and take the 911 head on at the price they were asking for it, but they didn't. And now you can buy a Corvette for much less that will keep up with it (or blow it away in the new Z06).
In addition, Honda needs to promote their race heritage. Even though 911's are popular and common, they are that way because Porsche has the race heritage to back up their claims and they have created a strong following over decades. Honda doesn't have this kind of following in their car segment (they do in their bikes though; I would know having owned a few). They should have built a true 2nd gen car that was just an evolution of the 1st: light weight and plenty of power at a lower price, then consistently improve it like 911/Corvette/Mustang. And race the thing. Yes, I know they did in IMSA, but the car they raced the last few years wasn't what was sold in the production car because of all the electric crap. They should have release a light, engine-only, 2WD, base model car around $100K for starters, then added in the higher priced hybrid model later, much like what Corvette is doing now (probably a hybrid Zora coming down the pipe at some point).
Finally: the Type S front end is what should have been on the NSX from the get-go!!!!!!!! Otherwise, it's a pretty good looking car.
I'm not against the NSX; it's a car I wanted to like ever since they released it. Sorry Acura: swing and a miss.

this car in america only sold 128 in 2020. the 2021 model year might sell even less than 2020. the 458, 488 and the f8 are v8, higher price and outsells the nsx. the c8 corvette cost less and is way better car.

This video was disappointing. There was one change in 2020 (added yellow as a color) and one change in 2021 (adding blue). The rest of the car is unchanged and thoroughly reviewed. The real questions nobody addresses: why buy this car? Where does it fit in the sports/supercar market? Acura made a big mistake imho in marketing this car. First they gave journalists fully optioned cars which cost $200,000. Not surprisingly, reviewers evaluated the car as a $200,000 and it did not fare well. The reality is that that particularly since my2019, you could buy this car bone stock and you would be fine. There are no options you must have to enjoy the car. Add that to the $20/30K manufacturer rebate typically offered on this car and it competes price-wise with a Porsche 911 Carrera S. I know which one I would have. Second, Acura failed to define this car so others defined it and the reviews were all over the place. One reviewer thought the ca needed a bigger battery for more electric range. This was important because despite all the tech in car, the car is not outstanding by most supercar performance metrics. The better reviewers, such as this one, called it an everyday supercar. What that really means is that it lacks maddening obtuse controls, isn’t so stiff that your teeth rattled, outward visibility was good, and the seats were good enough that you could drive the car for hours. The problem is that, in reality, nobody drives supercars everyday. Other cars are better suited for such daily activities and the depreciation on high mileage supercars is just too great for the vast majority of owners.
So what is it? My answer is that, compared to other supercars, the only thing missing is label exclusivity. This car is comfortable, lacks arcane controls, will probably be FAR more reliable, and won’t try to kill you as it is relatively easy to drive fast. The trunk is small but fits a golf bag and is a very accessible. It also has a very good depreciation curve. Is this enough? Depends on what you value.
