    Also the Witcher organisations themselves remind me greatly of the Rangers of the North in Middle-Earth, the Dúnedain. A group of mysterious, long lived, cloaked super humans, who live and roam in the wilds, protecting the civilized realms from monsters and other foul things, while simultaneously being mistrusted, feared and hated by the very people they protect. The series is quite enjoyable. By episode 4, the plot squeezes together more and the timeline begins to present itself clearer. This isn't bad writing, it's meant to avoid flashbacks midstream of events. Some of the elements that are cosmetic issues also improve. Like when practical effects meet CGI, some noticeable issues are in play, but as an older viewer, and a writer and artist, I really appreciate the efforts and homage to older series like Hercules. The actors are great in their roles. I haven't seen any glaring issue with any of them at all. People should watch it patiently.

    Translating Hexer to Witcher is quite the on point translation.
    Can´t say which word sounds better tho. I think that depends on the accent of the person voicing it.

    Bravo for you for pronouncing Wiedźmin correctly. By the way "Hexer" is just a german word for male witch wich was created to translate polish "wiedźmin". I'm glad that there are translations where Witcher is Witcher and not just "wizzard" or "hunter" like for example chinese or french because it takes away the whole unikness of this name.

    Probably a bad comparison, but they seem like the magical equivalent to Technomancers. Mutated on a genetic level to have control over unnatural powers. The only difference the Technomancers are in fact mutants.

    Hexer is the german translation and witcher is the English term if you translate it literally, hexe means witch and a hexer is then a male hexe so its a hexer

    • @ds15ful

      @alice young actually no. The word warlock means a witch that has betrayed their coven.

    • @ds15ful
      @ds15ful 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @alice young I'm talking about historical references rather the modern connotations. The word originates from old English "wærloga" from that word the modern day word warlock arose. Wærloga means oath breaker from Wær - oath plus loga liar, from lēogan to lie. Please do proper research and historical references before you decide to attack anyone on their "pseudo-knowledge". Thank you in advance.

    I will say that a good follow up video to this would be the lore in the Way of the Witcher expansion for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.
    The team behind the game back in December released a Witcher focused expansion that fleshed out a lot of the Witcher schools that added some rather interesting lore. Most notably the creator of the Witchers, Alzur.
    Worth checking out if you can find it online.
