+Duncan McLeish that would look cool! There's an electrical supply place I pass every other day and they've got their old empty spools out back. I keep wanting to stop and ask about them
Thanks for the instructions on making a clock. A 36 inch clock will be ideal. I know I'll have to watch this video several times to catch all the steps but this is going to be fun and will definitely make a very personalized gift.
Another way to locate the numerals is to temporarily install the movement and hands. Then just crank the minute hand around and when its at 12, the hour hand will be pointing to the correct location for the number.
Great tip, Bob. Tom Howbridge suggested that too. Definitely seems like the simplest way to do it! If I had only thought if that when I was making the clock...
Well done video. Complete explanation without lots of words and time not related to the actual project. Good background music that does not distract. Thanks for the useful information.
Please make another giant clock making video using a different type of wood... Your style of presentation is totally superb and im starting a business making giant clocks like this. They are a hit here in Africa where im watching you from. Thanx a lot man 👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you for all of the great detail provided in the video. Also by sharing exactly what your tools / products are you make it easier to make one ourselves
Very cool.........you have gained my subscription. Yes, a 2x2 for the back would have been wiser. Plus you could probably design it into a french cleat for hanging the clock as well. Again, well done.
There's always more than one way to do something so I try to offer alternative methods for those that might not have a certain tool that I choose to use. Thanks for watching!
hi Will! What a great project! Someone gave me a 36" round oak tabletop. It's quite weathered.... and thanks to your video, it will soon become a fabulous distressed clock! Thanks!
I wanted to thank you for your diy oversized wall clock video, looks easy I'm gonna add my own artistic qualities to it and make one for my house. Wish me luck, I've never used electric tools before, you video makes it look easy.
Great video/tuition. You moved it along at just the right speed and explained it all in a simple way. I wanted to make a clock, and its given me the confidence to have a go thanks. Oh and the music's good! Pinned it too!
Looks awesome and is a huge help. I am just about to make a 48" one for a friend and was looking for a large enough movement to use so thanks for that. Also was worried about how to get it to fit in the back since I am using 1x4's. Great work and super helpful. And music wasn't bad either!!!!!
I'm making a clock with 5 ft and half spool! Any suggestions before I get to that? The middle hole is 3 1/2inches wide. How to hide it and where to buy large enough hands...
I like the clock and loved your rough and ready approach - it made the project seem much more achievable than watching somebody using lots of fancy kit! I'd prefer no music on these 'How to' videos and don't understand why everybody seems to have it. This music was ok but it was a bit loud.
Thank you for your feedback. I've since learned the art of sound design and have toned down the music. Music can tend to draw a viewer to watch longer. Think of it like an elevator, department store, or restaurant. To create ambiance so you spend more money. In my case it's adsense dollars.
Thanks Ali. You could definitely add stain to the wood. I'm not big on staining but that's more of an aesthetic choice. Our house has a lot of neutrals and grays so I liked the faded weathered wood look for our wall. Thanks for watching!
I've been wanting to get 3 big wall clocks , one for each of my kids marking the times they were born. Thing is they are very expensive. I could make all 3 for the price of one. Thanks for this video. It was awesome. Gonna so hunt for some pallet wood ;-)
Loved it! One question: does the clock kit allow for a thicker wood to be used? I'm thinking of using at least 3/4" to 1" and want to know if it can work. Thanks
+Barry Parks I just checked the specs on that particular clock movement. It unfortunately can't be used outside. The pallet wood and solid stain would be fine, just not the mechanics. You might be able to replace the movement with one that could be used outside. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for making this video. My husband and I will be tackling this project next weekend when all our materials come in. I want to paint mine red and then give it a distressed look. So question: do I stain the wood first, paint it red and then use sand paper? Do you recommend using a polyurethane after stenciling the letters to make the look last?
Nice clock! When determining number placement, you may have found it less stressful to measure the circumference and divide this by 11 to get the spacing between numbers.
love it, it is just what i am about to do, I will have the pallet wood the other way though if that makes sense? easier to paint the numbers? Just a thought ... thank you :)
Great! I'm not sure if it will be easier to paint the numbers or not but I think it would look good either way. One tip some viewers commented: To mark the placement for your numbers, start the minute and hour hand at 12:00 then move the minute hand around one full turn, mark each hour until you get back to 12:00. Seems really simple now, I wish I had thought of that when making my clock.
fab tip thank you, made the clock base repeatedly watching your vid :) just cant wait to get the hands on but no time yet ;( I am gonna print a pic of clock face and mark out from that?
This helped me..I plan on making a 11" square one. I did not know how to carve out the back for the little box. I am gonna try..need a router, might borrow one. THANKS
love this video! perfect tutorial! i happen to have the same stencils, would the number size look good if i were to do a 24in clock instead? Thank you!
I looked back through the questions and answers others have asked but didn't see where anyone had asked you this question. Can you please tell me how far you came up from the bottom to put the support strip? Thanks
+Paul Bennett thanks! You could certainly add a clear finish. Oil based would add an amber tint making the boards more brown than gray. Water based would wouldn't add a tint but it would darken the wood some (about the same if you wet the wood just to get an idea of what it would look like.)
+Michael Kopacko I'm not sure the exact size numbers but these are the exact numbers I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG9M1K8/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00JG9M1K8&linkCode=as2&tag=wmwalcom-20&linkId=ZJR2SIGGUQYFX3XY
Love the video and the music! I am about to start on my 36: clock and you've given me some confidence. Thanks for the great vid! P.S. LOVE the 'pro tip!'
I've made me one for my kitchen but haven't added the clock hands yet. My question is how did you measure in between numbers with the tape measure my clock is 32 inchs with Roman numerals all I have is 12 3 6 & 9 on it so far. I'm scared to mess it up!
Great question! I did a lot of trial and error with a tape measure and pencil but, some people commented a better way. Add your clock hands temporarily, set it to 12 o'clock, and turn the hands marking every spot on the hour. I.e.spin the clock until the minute hand reaches 12, mark 1 o'clock on the hour hand, spin the minute hand around again to the top of the hour, mark 2 o'clock, etc.
+Wm. Walker Co. thank you! Great video by the way I used pallet wood for mine as well! My brother asked me to make him one so I started his today!!! Im glad I found your video!
I'm not sure of the actual font, but here is the exact stencil I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG9M1K8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Another great video! Hey man, is that the shop fox classic fence you are using? If so, I'm considering purchasing one in the next few days. How do you like yours? BTW: just a thought, you might be able to install the clock at the 12' position move the minute hand one full revolution and use the hour hand to reference where to paint each number.
+ZH Fabrications Hey, yep. It's a Grizzly cabinet saw so they come with the Shop Fox fences (same company/factory/owner). I had upgraded to the longer rails though. I like it a lot. It locks down really well and doesn't jump off the mark when you lock it. It's super easy to adjust for parallel with the set screws. My fence had about a 10 thousandth bow in the middle. I called Grizzly and they suggested using aluminum foil as a shim in between the HDPE face and the rail beam. Now it's straight as an arrow.
Great looking clock. I love it. I did not notice the music, so I guess that it was a great choice as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the video.
Music was great and the clock looked great! Using an old cable spool as the clock face would look cool too.
+Duncan McLeish that would look cool! There's an electrical supply place I pass every other day and they've got their old empty spools out back. I keep wanting to stop and ask about them
Your demo was really easy to follow. For someone who does not have access to sophisticated machinery, I think it is within my capability! Thanks
That was one of my goals for this project. To keep the need for expensive tools to a minimum. Good luck and I'd love to see your finished product!
Thanks for the instructions on making a clock. A 36 inch clock will be ideal. I know I'll have to watch this video several times to catch all the steps but this is going to be fun and will definitely make a very personalized gift.

Great looking clock. I'm going to start building one .Thanks
Thank you. This is exactly what I want to make, have no router or table saw, just like you. Thank you! 🙏 🙂
Looks great, working on a wall clock from a old elm log disk . Love this kind of stuff ,stay safe .
Loving the clock William! Everyone loves a good pallet wood project!
That is an amazing clock. Pallet wood makes beautiful projects.. thanks for sharing
Admittedly, I was skeptical when I saw that you were using pallet wood but I was pleasantly surprised. The clock looks fantastic!
Again, well done.
ah yes! a french cleat would have been pretty clever.
I like how you mention alternative tools.
There's always more than one way to do something so I try to offer alternative methods for those that might not have a certain tool that I choose to use. Thanks for watching!
Riley Dirckx pi)io
Love the clock, looks good, and a nice build.
+Albert Ondic Thank you much. My wife loves it too.
hi Will! What a great project! Someone gave me a 36" round oak tabletop. It's quite weathered.... and thanks to your video, it will soon become a fabulous distressed clock! Thanks!
Great project Bill, it would look great also done in a paint wash for hanging on a darker background.
Great job! Only thing I'd have done is make the centre timber central, may have given you odd end pieces though.
+James Stimpson that would have been a nice design change. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking the "TIME" teaching me something I've been wanting to do 😀
That is giant! Well done William!
+Make Something Thank you, David!
Nice
Loved the clock and your instructions were awesome...I cannot wait to start making one
Thanks! I'd love to see yours when you're done!
Thanks for the great idea and great video! My wife and I just hung up our interpretation of your clock. Thanks again!!
That's awesome! I'd love to see a picture.
I wanted to thank you for your diy oversized wall clock video, looks easy I'm gonna add my own artistic qualities to it and make one for my house. Wish me luck, I've never used electric tools before, you video makes it look easy.
+Margie Rice Best of luck! Thanks for watching!
Great Clock. My daughter has gone all Magnolia, and she -clearly- needs a giant clock for her wall.
cool...love the patina and weathered look...
Great video/tuition. You moved it along at just the right speed and explained it all in a simple way. I wanted to make a clock, and its given me the confidence to have a go thanks. Oh and the music's good! Pinned it too!
Great, good looking project. Like the stenciled numbers.
Thank you very much!
Excellent Job, project and video !
+Saw Dust Thank you! Great user name by the way.
Awesome rustic wall clock!
LOVE THIS!!!! Keep making videos. I will be making a clock now after watching your thorough video! Thanks
That looks great! Nice job
I'm glad you like it!
Looks awesome and is a huge help. I am just about to make a 48" one for a friend and was looking for a large enough movement to use so thanks for that. Also was worried about how to get it to fit in the back since I am using 1x4's. Great work and super helpful. And music wasn't bad either!!!!!
Absolutely amazing project! I personally love the rustic look, so i shall be making this for my next project!
+William Hall I'd love to see your take on it!
Great video. Like the clock and your channel.
Thanks Clester!
I'm making a clock with 5 ft and half spool! Any suggestions before I get to that? The middle hole is 3 1/2inches wide. How to hide it and where to buy large enough hands...

Your video was so soothing and very informative, learn a lot. I will be making one real soon
New sub here. Awesome build. Love to see projects that a relatively new woodworker can actually accomplish. Nice video work too.
That's pretty dope I like it
Nice,cool,creative.....what about adding stains to the wood ...wouldn't is look more catchy...but I did loved ur work...
Thanks Ali. You could definitely add stain to the wood. I'm not big on staining but that's more of an aesthetic choice. Our house has a lot of neutrals and grays so I liked the faded weathered wood look for our wall. Thanks for watching!
Great idea! Excellent work! I'd like to know what type of of mechanism u used behind the clock. Is there a better mechanism than the Chinese make?
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Loved the look.
Great job Sr. !!!
+RC C thank you!
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video, easy to understand. I will check out your other projects. I really like the clock, gotta have one! Thanks!
You should make one! Really quick project.
Thank you for sharing! Beautiful!!!
Love the background music buddy! What song is that? And nice clock bro.
Beautiful job!
Love the clock! Thanks so much!
I want to make an absolute ENORMOUS wall clock!
I've been wanting to get 3 big wall clocks , one for each of my kids marking the times they were born.
Thing is they are very expensive. I could make all 3 for the price of one.
Thanks for this video. It was awesome. Gonna so hunt for some pallet wood ;-)
Such a cool idea! I've got an abundance of people trying to give me pallets but I also see them on Craigslist all the time (free)
Loved it! One question: does the clock kit allow for a thicker wood to be used? I'm thinking of using at least 3/4" to 1" and want to know if it can work. Thanks
The clock looks GREAT! Would I be able to purchase one?
Thanks Danielle! What area are you in? I fear shipping might be an issue.
loved it and loved the music. OK to use clock outdoors? one would look good on our garden wall. happy new year from Eastbourne UK
+Barry Parks I just checked the specs on that particular clock movement. It unfortunately can't be used outside. The pallet wood and solid stain would be fine, just not the mechanics. You might be able to replace the movement with one that could be used outside. Thanks for watching!

love this video! perfect tutorial! i happen to have the same stencils, would the number size look good if i were to do a 24in clock instead? Thank you!
Simply beautiful
Always so well produced!
I looked back through the questions and answers others have asked but didn't see where anyone had asked you this question. Can you please tell me how far you came up from the bottom to put the support strip? Thanks
That clock is awesome! Gave me some great ideas for my shop. (once I clean out some space for it) Music is nice too. Who were you playing?
Excellent pro tip.
What a great idea.... I've got to give this a try.... thanks for the inspiration...
I'd love to see what you came up with. If you make one post it to your social media of choice and tag me :)
Excellent work👍
+Asgarali Tanveer ali Haidery Thank you!
nice work!! BTW, can you tell me the website you used to get motor and hands?
+Tom Brown there should be a link in the video description
Nice project and good video. Thanks for sharing.
Where did you get the stencils with numbers from?
Did you not put any laquer (matte) on the wood?
Very cool! Thanks!
Awesome work 👍
Nicely done, maybe some clear stain would look good..
+Paul Bennett thanks! You could certainly add a clear finish. Oil based would add an amber tint making the boards more brown than gray. Water based would wouldn't add a tint but it would darken the wood some (about the same if you wet the wood just to get an idea of what it would look like.)
Great video, best I've seen on here in terms of clock making. What size numbers did you use??
+Michael Kopacko I'm not sure the exact size numbers but these are the exact numbers I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG9M1K8/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00JG9M1K8&linkCode=as2&tag=wmwalcom-20&linkId=ZJR2SIGGUQYFX3XY
nice job, came out great. awesome (clock) hands.
+Miter Mike's Woodshop hahaha you don't think I could be a hand model?
Love the video and the music! I am about to start on my 36: clock and you've given me some confidence. Thanks for the great vid! P.S. LOVE the 'pro tip!'
Good!♡ so beautiful!
AWESOME, I have been make 20" clocks. I learned tips from you. THANKS!
+SAA 77 great! Glad I could help

Nice job
Do u recommend a high torque movement for this size clock?
Nice job!
Do you know what type fonts stencil that is? Great idea
I'm not sure of the actual font, but here is the exact stencil I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG9M1K8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
very nice man , I like it
Great ! Another way to mark out the other numbers would be to try it out time it for the numbers !
that's a brilliant idea! great tip!
nice and easy. Well done
Where did you get the clock hands and the clock movement? I'm doing something similar and I'm having a hard time finding hands that are long enough.
AAAAAAAND I just looked at your link that states exactly where you got these things. Just gotta open my eyes.
Another great video!
Hey man, is that the shop fox classic fence you are using? If so, I'm considering purchasing one in the next few days. How do you like yours?

Great video, love the music😊👍
Cool clock. I liked the video.
+Bruce A. Ulrich Thanks Bruce.
Your so welcome I'm a fan now !
u got a new subscriber .. great job ..
+deniz sönmez Thanks so much!
