Songtsen Gampo sent around 20 young smart Tibetan kids to India to study Sanskrit. Most of them died due to the hot climatic conditions in India. Only a few survived and one student called Thonmi Sambota successfully studied Sanskirt. He came back to Tibet and made the Tibetan alphabet and grammar which is still taught in Tibetan school these days. Buddhism came to Tibet about 200 years after Songsten Gampo. Songtsen married a Nepalese Princess Brikriti and Chinese princess Wencheng. Each of them has brought a statue of Buddha to Lhasa. These 2 Buddha statues are housed in two temples called Jokhang temple and Ramoche temple. Tibetan considers these two statues as most sacred as they believe that it was made in India and were later taken to China and Nepal as a gift to the royal family. These two statues are called Jowo. Tibetans from all over the Tibet travel to Lhasa to get a blessing from Jowo once in their lifetime. It was King Trisong Detsen who invited the Shantharakshita, abbot of Nalanda University and Tantric Master Guru Padma Sambhava from Swat Valley. The first monastery was built at Samye, where 7 Tibetans were ordained as monks by Shantharakshita. A lot of Indian Guru remained to teach in Tibet and some even died there of old age such as Shantharakshita and Dipankar Atisha. Atisha is native of Bangladesh and as such his remains/ashes were given to Bangladesh in the 1960s by Chinese to establish diplomatic relationships. Tibetans have kept the remains for nearly 900 years as it is considered a very holy object. Tibetan student and Indian master travelled to each others country from 7-12AD. After Nalanda, Vikramshila etc were destroyed in India in 12AD and Buddhism disappeared in India. It is said that some monks from India managed to escape to Tibet and Nepal and last Abbot/vice chancellor Shakyashri escaped to Tibet.

Oh my god my tear automatically came out while watching that. I was born in India so I'm really willing to visit my own land 😥 10:58 he said that we can't understand that language that's not true. That is like debating each other via reasoning there isn't such correct answer to the every question. Before, this kind of debate was played only by the monks and nuns on the religion based but now a days because of our great spiritual leader his holiness the 14th Dalia Lama , that is teaching to us in Tibetan schools in India on the religion bases and also on academic subject base also.
For him it’s true and for many others too because they are debating about the concepts of high level Buddhist scriptures. Many common people won’t understand it.

@hsw06 hui I wish I could. What many Chinese citizens don't realize is that it is extremely difficult for Tibetans to get a visa to visit Tibet. Most of our visas are rejected. In addition, it is also difficult for academics, journalists etc to get visa to Tibet, which begs the question-why? But, lots of western social media influencers are being invited by Chinese Govt to Tibet to make travel vlogs but only authorized to visit certain areas and with authorized guide. Why is that?
dear you are citizen of India. if you want to go, you can go whenever, but you are not free touriest as you go in other countries, because everything is control by Chinese. i am sure you need to follow by Chinese roles. We also really miss homeland but we have nothing to do. specially we miss parents, i haven't meet my parents 16 for years. but we are very greatful India.

Maar means ghee Or butter in Tibetan language and jha means tea in general. Maar jha means butter tea what you said in your language. Tibetan tea is combination of butter and salt that we called as Bhod Jha Or Tibetan tea.
wothang doesn't mean flat land with milk. its called wothang coz when you look at it, it appears to be a milky flat land. they built on this lake which looked like a milky land.

MAR is Butter in Tibetan. MAR MEY is Butter Lamp. Tibetan tea is made from tea leaves, salt, butter and milk.
