What am I missing? I’m only four minutes in, and my answer is yes, makes sense to me as compared to Islam, Dustin who I love, is nowhere near as good on the mat. And Justin will not go to the ground even to save his behind, although He’s a great wrestler.

Uncle Chael, somehow people have come to the conclusion that Dustin Poirier cannot fight on the ground because he got submitted by Khabib and Charles. I’m going to say that again, he got submitted by Khabib and Charles. Two of the greatest submission artists in UFC history and somehow Dustin lacks because of that? How many other greats has he beaten, defended against, etc… personally, I think a lot of people have this fight all wrong. The exact same way they had it wrong last time and I don’t want to hear that was BSD not Islam, but everyone was ready to crown BSD king until DP did what DP does!
Dustin’s never had a real belt to defend really interim lightweight is the best he’s done, simply I don’t think Dustin makes the cut of the top 3 fighters objectively you say he’s only lost to the best, but to be the best you gotta take out the best.

I used to get really mad when Chael said ridiculous things that he has to know aren’t true. Eventually, I realized you can’t really believe anything he says, just sit back and be entertained. He is a master at creating things out of thin air, using logic that doesn’t add up at all and tying it to other logic that doesn’t add up at all, but making it add up anyway.
There’s no way he doesn’t know a lot of this stuff. What brought to mind is the fact that we all know Max is the one that called for the fight right after Justin knocked out Poirier. It happens all the time. We all love us some Chael, though.
I wish the editor, wouldnt cut out the pauses to much. Its a great way to emphasize a point.

No it’s his wresting. He jumps that guilly when a guy tries to take him down, it’s stupid, but he knows he’s gonna end up on his back anyway. It’s the equivalent of a Hail Mary. It’s because he doesn’t have a better option when facing a great wrestler. If he could stuff those takedown of the top grapplers, he’d never try that, ever.

I love that Max won that fight and the way he won it but hate that Justin lost especially when he was on the cusp of a fight for the championship but if he'd gotten it, he would've lost. He needed the fight with Max to cause him to make some last decisions before that last shot and if that loss causes him to do that it was worth it. I don't want him to just get the fight with Islam I want him to win it. What he started when he told Trevor he wanted to make a change after the losses to Dustin and Eddie he needs to finish. He's not finished yet. First, he needs to find out what Max and team found and exploited and fix it. Second, he needs to finish sharpening his striking. Short hooks straight punches hands up speed defense. No more wild haymakers until the right moment. The turning point in the Fiziev fight was the jab. Straight. Fundamental. Clean. More of that. Max and team knew they needed to add muscle and power and hurt him early. I never saw that spinning back kick coming and neither did Justin. They knew his movement and they exploited it. The finish was spectacular, but the focal moment was that spinning back kick. You don't just pull something like that out. They planned it. It was ridiculously short and right on the nose. Probably would've knocked most people out. Justin was never really in it after that.

The closest Khabib ever came to losing was against Poirier... so I think a hungry, intelligebt Poirier stands a good chance against Islam.

Dustin is the most dangerous boxing fighter that Islam has faced so far. Islam was knocked out by a lesser fighter and a lesser striking style fighter. I know thats a while back but Dustin should completely work on anti clinch and strike. Anti takedown and strike with power . Especially if he can land something hard with a counter punch. Use his footwork and sprawls and getting back up if he does get taken down. I believe That Islam will most likely be able to deal with Dustin. But if Dustin trains hard and very specific for Islam we might get an upset. Its an interesting fight if you think about it. I think Dustin has a bigger chance than Justin if he was fighting goibg against Islam. Im looking forward to this

I only agree with Islam because if Dustin keeps jumping guillotines on someone like Islam then Islam is just going to use that against Dustin. So I agree with Islam under a very circumstantial situation. I think it’s really that simple, if Dustin doesn’t grapple like a big dummy like how he did with Benoit Saint Denis, then he’ll be as competent as anyone has been against Islam in the grappling department. And we already know the striking acumen is there for Dustin so that would most likely be where he wants the fight to stay if he can control it.

Dustin has won by KO/TKO over double the amount of times he's won by submission. His losses however are all pretty even (3 by sub and TKO/KO, 2 by decision) so I wouldn't say he has a hole in his game necessarily, but he clearly has a preferred tool to use.
