I made one like this long ago, and it works better than most anything and was free to build for me. I need to find it in my storage unit and refurbish it. Needs no EQ.
YOU'VE GOT JUST THE SOUND WE WANT - - YOU GOT GREAT VOLUME TOO - what is best for under the box on floor -does the sound differ on diff surfeaces -WELL DONE
Since you are operating the speaker as a mic, you should connect positive to negative. Recording into any program that displays the resulting waveform, will confirm that this gives a peak rather than a trough. A transformer is not a bad idea either.
i was going to say the same thing. use a small output transformer in reverse to change 8 ohms to 1500 ohms. of course you should use a 8 ohm speaker instead of a 4 ohm if you want to be technical about it.
Michael Stoneham I believe he means sealing the areas that rattle. You can use many things to put between the lid and box to help this. You can put a small latch to keep it closed and help with vibrations. I seen foam put inside also to absorb sound, and create different sounds. Be creative or look at some more vids, Good luck :)
I think what You were looking to do was hook up piezo elements inside a box and run a cable out to an amp. So that they would pick up and amplifly Your stomping. Did You get an amplified sound when You plugged that in? and what did You plug it in to?
That may be the sloppiest soldering job I have ever seen. That's not how you do it. And are you actually not at least going to wire nut the connections? Better yet, solder them in line and shrink sleeve them. I can't believe you are actually leaving them uncovered. You should not be making videos like this.
Excellent vid and so much better than a piezo.
Cheers from the Scottish highlands

So cool
Good video! Way simpler than I thought to make one of these, and I'm now up for putting my own together. Thanks for the info!
Thanks a million bro. Im not the most handy person in the world so figuring this out by myself wouldbhave taken a looong time! :P
Good Idea! I'm definitely going to do this myself. I have a dead cheap music box with the exact same speakers in it.
Thank You!!
LOL - I just watched some other vid using a piezzo and said 'Just reaching for an old car speaker right now'. Thanks chap.
Great vid , Tip ,you can insulate the solder joints with the hot glue
can you wire the speaker directly to a quarter inch and then into an amp?
yep

Where can I read more about this?

Unless you are wiring two or more speakers, polarity doesn't matter a hoot. Negative is the new positive.
This definitely helped me! Thanks a lot man.
How and why would you seal the box. What if you needed to get inside to access the wiring etc.

okie musgogee the 2 small boxes i have came with an internal edging that holds the lid in place. when closed and yes it stops it rattling

What kind of guitar was that sitting against the wall?
you could use heat shrink over the solder joints so they dont touch and short out your audio equipment.
Nice simple build, TY
so far the best speaker I used was a 8ohm 10w subwoofer I go from old computer speakers.
is best option piezo or speaker? Thanks!
Piezo
I've built a few of both.... speaker by a looooong shot
Thanks man Good vid!!
very nice
So cool man
Seen this made with bass pickups but this is a cheaper option cheers
you are cool. thank you!
thank you man...

Looks like a lot of work, have you tried the new electric foot drum, stomp box from, salgo foot drum plus, with more than 300 cool sounds ?
Busker Buddy dumbass spam
