Great daily video of the river front park in Spokane WA, a really neat park with lots to see. On the carousel the people are trying to grab the brass ring - most of the rings are plastic and you throw them into a target on the other side but one ring is brass and if you get that one you get a free ride. It's a blast hanging off the horses trying to grab the rings, I did this with my kids many times and it's the only carousel that I have ridden anywhere that has that feature. This video brings back many good memories!

I remember going down that slide and playing on the monkey bars on that thing in 97' when my sister passed away at Sacret Heart Hospital. Thank you for showing this I have never been able to get myself to go back to Spokane
OH, man, I was there last August during the big forest fires Washington was having! The sky was pinkish grey most of the time, the sun looked like a big red ball of fire and the air almost was suffocating at times. Thankfully, there were periods that the wind shifted. But during that experience I got to experience the Radio Flyer myself.

The people were grabbing at rings while they were on the carousel; when I was there last summer, there was a place you could toss your ring into as you went around and around. I hope you went to Zips while you were there (I look forward to going to Zips whenever I go to Spokane).
I used to live in Kissimmee, FL and thought about that when you were talking about how Spokane is pronounced. The locals used to get really pissed off when tourists used to mispronounce it. It was quite funny because after awhile, so did I. It does become quite annoying.

That style of Merry-Go-Round was made in the mid to late 1800's I believe.....and traditionally some of the older ones had a brass ring you could try to reach out and grab. I believe if you managed to get the brass bring you won a free ride.
I've read over several comments mentioning the brass ring on the carousel. Where I'm from, PA, and where my late husband was from, NJ, if you were lucky enough to grab the brass ring you got a free ride on the carousel.

It is a brass ring that you grab and usually toss at a target. At Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk you toss the ring in the clowns mouth

The people on the carousel were likely trying to "grab the brass ring". Which usually gets you another free ride. I think.
You might have had an issue getting through that hole on the slide before you started your diet.

The diner has been there for years as it's an old converted rail road passenger car if my memory serves me correctly.
