The reason why the Life Guard gets inspected is because, many years ago Her Majesty Queen Victoria came through the main gate at Horseguards (then the entrance to Buckingham Palace) and all the (then) Queens Life Guard were all absolutely drunk. She sent a message to the Commanding Officer at Knightsbridge Barracks that she was so angry that she wants the Queens Life Guard to be inspected at 16:00 everyday for 100 years. After the hundred years passed, they decided to keep it as normal Standing Orders for the Sovereign’s Life Guard. Sorry to get a bit boring there but I just wanted you to have all the correct information

He rides his horse everywhere, often through the parks. We have seen him leaving Horse Guards a few times on his own. A true horseman.
