Good video. I've been using Citristrip for a couple weeks now. To improve the results, coat it with the stripper, cover the area with saran wrap then let it set overnight. It will take off 3 layers of paint at once.
No gloves, no respirator, no proper shoes, no proper ventilation, partially read directions & ignored them…..yup every man everywhere!,! Lol Thanks for the demo my friend. My daughter and I are looking to strip an old piece of her great grandmothers furniture. Looks like the citrus is the clear winner.
Lol. I only saw the first half of your message and saw the no gloves part and was getting pissed off. Lmao. Glad you enjoyed the video! Good luck with the furniture!
To enhance the CitruStrip's efficacy, you can cover or wrap your piece with plastic wrap, which keeps the stripper moist. It is more effective when it is kept moist for longer periods of time. Nice video, careful with those exposed toes!
Hi. Great video, thanks for the comparieon. I have read that after applying the striper, cover it up with plastic wrap and leave for several hours or overnight if you want to. This prevents the product from drying out and gives it max time to soak into the wood. I have not tried it yet, but I plan to this week. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for the video. I especially liked the part @ 6:17 about the safety precautions. Especially if it could "eat through your skin" says the man stripping with open top sandals.
I use Citristrip for all of my projects. I am currently stripping mantles and built ins in my grandmother’s 100 year old house. If you put a thick coat of citistrip on the piece then cover with plastic it will get through lots of layers of paint. The trick is to not let it dry out. Once stripper dries it stops working. Also, don’t move the stripper around. Move it as little as possible when you are putting it on.
you're a king for doing this review. I need to remove 115 years of paint from mouldings in my house and none of the strippers I bought did anything until I tried citristrip. Thank you!
😝 you’re funny! Thank you for this info! I started doing my dining table because I hated the color it was black brown 😮 I started doing the legs and the citri stip is good but it’s so much work and it can get messy! 😊
Thank you! The two minute remover works fine for small areas. I also pressure washed the bench after using the citristrip to get it all cleaned up too.
Great choice of content for your video. I’ve heard good stuff about citristrip and it was interesting to see your side by side comparison. 2 minute stripper my eye. Acid tends to burn when left in contact with the skin but a little soap & water will take care of it. Lol 👍
Can you use on walls in the house my uncle painted a botched accent wall in my bedroom leaving excess paint from painters tape when doing chevron stripes.
Yeah it’s finish drywall has couple coats of paint on it but a family member used spray paint for art purposes .and now that room smells really bad and the smell is not as strong but is still there despite painting over any advice to get rid of the smell ?
@@sickeyeseee5647 , hahaha, you had a kid peeing on the wall, didn't you? I would use (if you can get it still) , an oil-based stain-covering primer, like Killz or Zinnser and then a quality paint. But if you have to strip it, I'd use Citri-Strip and of course the windows open and a fan.
What I ended up doing is just scraping the paint off lucky I found out that the wall had been had a lot of drywall mud on it so I didn’t mess it up to much the wall is only like 11 by 10 so it was not much work
Thanks for comparison! I actually used the 2 min today on a dresser and used a ton! I watched a bunch of TH-cam videos and am grabbing citristrip tomorrow! And love your Trump sticker! ❤️🇺🇸
A Big Thank You Tex...from the First State...yeah that's right....Traitor Joe's state. Now, I look forward to making my paint stripping projects Great Again...and before the mid-terms! God Bless!
Quick strip does work. I’m not trying to downplay how well it works. But the paint on this particular bench was laid on thick so I was using like 3-4 coats of it. I would recommend quick strip for spray paint and quick jobs for sure.
I bought the stuff and will be using it tomorrow. Is there anything else in retrospect that you have learned from using it, that I should watch out for or maybe something i should do?
@@texasgardenguy , the "2-Minute" is the worst I've ever used, I applied it and returned in about 5 minutes and it evaporated, doing nothing. So I tried again, same results. It might take a layer of latex off, and it may not stink bad, but it's pretty much worthless. I took it back and got a refund, getting Klean Strip, and it's better but costs more. I have a feeling that Citri-Strip is going to get very popular as people realize "the old stuff" is no longer any good.

It works that well ??

You need a PPE KIT

My favorite part was when he said “Got my PPE, got my gloves on”, then held up his gloveless hands 🤣

That’s awesome! Great tip!
So how long until it dries? If you cover it then how do you tell or is there a certain amount of time before you start peeling it off?

@@texasgardenguy we can't get the Citristrip WITH NMP in it... did that have NMP??

@@loubonaparte5063 If you pause at 7:59 you can see “No Methylene Chloride or NMP” in the bottom right hand corner.
He used the Non NMP version.
I tried some of the Rustolium stuff for decks that started peeling in 2 years, and tried the 2 minute remover and it did not work worth a crap.
Thank you! I needed to find out what was best. I need to use it for the house! ❤
No problem!
I’m working on a project right now and having a tough time with the Klean Stripper. I’m switching to Citrastrip thanks to your video. Thank you!
Great video. Ive used citristrip on a dresser 3 times. Each kids that used it painted the drawers. This stuff works easy peasy.
I appreciate this video. I went out and bo7ght sole stripper yesterday. And this video helped me save money and a quick job. Thank you.
*bought some
Awesome!!!
If you put plastic wrap over it after applying it seems to work better. Keeps it from drying out faster
Good tip.
Would you recommend using this on kitchen cabinets painted gray latex? I want wood look, but they were horribly painted when we bought house
It depends. This had a bunch of layers of paint. You may be better off sanding it
😝 you’re funny! Thank you for this info! I started doing my dining table because I hated the color it was black brown 😮 I started doing the legs and the citri stip is good but it’s so much work and it can get messy! 😊
Watched a few vids and this one was more direct on which one to use. Will use that citris one. Thank you for the vid.
Thank you! The two minute remover works fine for small areas. I also pressure washed the bench after using the citristrip to get it all cleaned up too.
Very good demonstration on both products. Glad to have your channel, keep up the good work. 👍👍👍👍👍
Great DIY video. Gave you a thumbs up for the info and your sticker on the locker. Make wood great again!
I need to know, will I Hutt polyurethane that is underneath? Say I'd want to restore the original without going all the way to the wood.
I'd recommend going with hand-rubbed oil finishes instead of the polyurethane - much smoother and natural looking. Keep it up!
I typically use just boiled linseed oil. But I went with the poly on this.
Beautiful results on this bench. Thank you for comparison of products.
Thank
You!
Asked for Citristrip; they only had the 2 Minute product. I should have gone up the street to SW and got the Citristrip..😕. Nice finish job, BTW.
Thank you. I ordered mine on Amazon
The 2 minute remover works but you have to do several coat. But it’s an easier cleanup job than the citristrip
I was thinking about stripping some paint off of my speakers, glad I came across this before I began!
Do you think it'll handle bike paint? I was already leaning towards the citrus strip because it probably smells better
Not sure but it’s worth a try.
Thanks for the comparison. It changed my decision.
Awesome!
Did you have to use the mineral spirits as well after it?
No I didn’t

I don’t think so. Maybe try it in a small spot and experiment
Will this remove stain ? From wood decks or fences
What liquid could be sprayed over the citristrip to maintain wetness?
Does it has a bad smell i need to take paint off a wall inside my home
I’m not sure if I would use it to take pain off of a wall. Like a drywall wall or brick or what?

I honestly don’t know for sure but I would say it’s worth a shot. I don’t know why it wouldn’t work.

About to head to the hardware store, so, thanks for the info!
Your welcome!
Great help. Good job on comparison.
Thank you!
Looks like it’s been painted over varnish/ stain so unless oil based paint it should sand off easily
I got CitriStrip, glad your comparing, 🤔
Your brush, dude
Gonna finish watching, anyway you are doing it🤙

Is this works on metal ? Please someone let me know
Will these products work on walls to remove paint?
I’m not totally sure. Don’t see why not.
Would this work to remove black paint from the tailights?
It’s worth a try if you protect the paint on your vehicle.
Wear gloves, goggles but dont worry about your feet. Flip flops will give you all the protection you need.lol
Yea thanks for the tip. Anything else?
Does it work on car paint
Hi, was wondering if the Citristrip darkened the wood? Is sanding the only way to not mess with the wood color? Thank you!
The citristrip will not change the wood color. You have to use a stain to change the color.
How hard is it to pronounce "CitruStrip"?
2 minute remover has not had as immediate result for me on removing paint from a steel door today will probably get citistrip seeing your results.
Thank you for this video 🙏
CitriStrip sucks for stain they say it can work for that its false i try it did n0t w0rk butt yes for paint it works
I use kwik strip it’s working instantly maybe because it just spray paint I’m removing

Plainer chips make a great removal tool after the stripper does its job.

Set up a tarp or a plastic sheet of some kind underneath the item your working in. And make sure to wear glover, safety glasses and shoes.

Very disappointed I. The 2 minute remover. First time trying to strip varnish.
You really need to do a better job in applying the material. I am sure that has a lot to do with the final result.
Ciristrip leaves a residue almost impossible to get rid of
It does. I had to pressure wash the bench afterwards to get everything off.
Get a plastic brush and gently scrub the area with mineral spirits right after scraping the old paint off. Then wipe it off with a paper towel.
Tells us to wear gloves 🧤......
*Didn't wear gloves himself*
Don’t waste your time with these messy products. Use a angle grinder or a buffer with a sanding attachment. Thank me later!
