Different Malaysia States has its own strengths ... Kuala Lumpur Selangor = modern urbanized, Melaka = Full of History, Penang = Food Heaven, Taiping Perak = No 3 Most sustainable city in the world, Sabah/Sarawak = lots of beautiful nature to explore, Terengganu = beautiful beaches and magical, Kelantan = Best place for kuihs and delicious kelantan foods.

KL, the city that never sleeps. Still remember the time when I was still working in KL, would go out almost every night to Hard Rock Cafe because they had this one really awesome rock band from Thailand that played there. Then headed to the 24hrs mamak restaurant after Hard Rock closed around 3am, had some food and head back around 5am. And head out to work around 7am, almost 2 hrs stuck in daily traffic to reach the office lol
Sometimes me and my roomates would just chill and singing at karaoke, where the cheapest rates were usually for 3 hrs straight for one room, so we would go there around 10-11pm after dinner and sing our hearts out and again, hangout at mamak 24hrs restaurant for couple of hours.
    Yup, very quiet city xD

@@SideTripLife Thanks xD There's a lot more to KL pre-pandemic. After I got tired of all those night life, I joined a group of adventures random people whom I never met before from Facebook group that specifically indulged in outdoor activities like mountain and rock climbing, waterfall/jungle trekking, water rafting, paintballs, food search, futsal, just about anything 😆 Quite a number of expat also joined our trip each time. The way the organizer of the group handled the events were also pretty convenience even if nobody knows anybody. Just pay a certain amount needed and listed on the event page - this is usually for some entrance fees etc, then bring all the items necessary for the trips including some food and then meet at certain location where they will arranged for carpools to the destination. There was this one trip to one waterfall deep in the jungle where we had like 70 random people joined, from all walks of life and ethnicity and religious background. Was doing that kind of adventurous thing for around 2 years almost every weekend, where all the usual attendees of the events became closed friends that we celebrated just about every kind of religious celebration together at our respective homes, until I finally quit my job and went back to my hometown. Most fun times in my life :) I missed my friends but never missed KL though, stuck in KL traffics everyday s*cks 😆

Petaling street used to be, let's just say not tourist friendly (heck even locals are wary going in there). It's also very infamous with its bootleg/pirated merchandises. KL authorities (DBKL) did a very good job cleaning that place.

Well for night life, BKK is still number 1. Even I as malaysian have to admit it.
But for ease of foreign tourists especially english speaking or english readers, malaysia is easier to understand and getting around.

It's easier to take the Lrt frm Bukit Bintang (Sri Petaling line) and stop at masjid jamek, then walk along the river alongside masjid jamek up until the blue building called central market/pasar seni and cross the road on front of pasar seni and turn left as soon as you have crossed the road and walk several metres, you'll find the Petaling St entrance on your left other than taking the mrt...

I think u mean the Sri Petaling line at Hang Tuah station not at Bukit Bintang. But if u are at Bukit Bintang you may take the MRT and stop at Pasar Seni station. Central Market(Pasar Seni) is just across the street from Pasar Seni station ..
