The restaurant you went to and the guy came out to greet you, is 1 of about 4 restaurants owned by the same woman and she does cooking classes. Her main one “morning glory” is one you have to go too. Tam Tam “lots of lantern outside” is a good place to sit and have a drink watching the chaos go passed 👍

Hoi An while touristy is easier to get around by cycle and motorbike in comparison to most cities eg Hanoi or HCMC because i was told cars are not allowed in the old city and even outside that much fewer cars. I found it was reasonable and after finding a noisy hotel by that bridge i changed to a quieter nicer one on the beach road. Food is awesome and good value too i tried a couple of the specialities but when i go back to Vietnam i will revisit here and stay longer :)

Hoi An is great for bicycling because it's flat. No hills to contend with. One major issue is flooding. They need to fix the drainage system. At least when I was there the tickets to different exhibits the revenue collected goes toward fixing the flooding problem.

Future cloth shop located in the old market is the best Taylors in Hoi an! They have been making our clothes for years and are very fast with outstanding quality! The ladies that own the shop are very friendly and easy to work with! We have become very good friends with them and their families.
The friendly people of Vietnam are what make this country so great!
It is a socialist country but we have never had any problems with the government. We just respect the law and the government and remember that we are guests in this wonderful place! The government officials that we have had brief contact with have been very helpful and friendly. And we have the utmost respect for them and the job they're doing!
When you visit Vietnam threat your time here as you would as a guest in someone's home and you will have a wonderful time with many fond memories!

Apparently, Mekong Delta is something not to be miss while in the country. Mandarines are good. Other fruits not so. I go on can juice all day long. Good, cheap and nutritif. Got rain in Thailand and Laos. No rain in Cambodia and so far either in Vietnam. I'm desapointed with Mui né.. heading to Phu Quoc Only Thailand is expensive. And Vietnam is the cheapest..I usually pay between 150-250 for a room. Those at 200 have hot water and often a fridge. Keeps me from pulling out those from my luggages.

Beginning of this video so nicely illustrates how FRESH the veggies and fruits are over there. The Vietnamese really do value absolute freshness of food!
And, don't let the strong smell of REAL fish sauce fool you, please. It smells HORRIFIC, but, it enhances food flavours ever so very nicely, and makes a BANG-ON good dipping sauce, for rice rolls and such, as well. Yummmmm!
I just looked up Hoi An city on Weather.com and the humidity is ever so low, there, right now. I am a bit shocked, I have to confess.
The prices in Asia ARE cheap, of course, but, one has to factor in the hundreds of dollars it takes to get to and fro, as well as other prices of travelling as well.
Yellow seems to be auspicious colour for the outsides of buildings, doesn't it?
I love seeing what folks choose to eat. Peoples' tastes are fascinating.

They were slightly too large and I kind of mumbled something to that effect, the owners immediately took them back and by the next morning they had shaved them down to a better size. The same thing with suits. So happy to say I now own some business in Vietnam and will be marrying my Viet sweetheart and living there. It's so hard to not be happy in Vietnam. Good afternoon from Adelaide Australia. I’m just watching this vlog and we are heading to Vietnam and Cambodia at the end of the year. At the moment my plans are to fly to Da Nang then get to Hoi An and stay there for a week. Do you think a week is too long or to little? We will then be catching a train from Danang to Hanoi to spend two weeks there and surrounds. Then we Will be flying to Siem Reap, I’ve been there before so I’m informed. We’re going with 7 of us including 2 kids a teen and 4 adults. Any hints appreciated.

Is Hanoi or Ho Chi Min City in your plans? Other than walking, are Taxis the only other way to get around? No Metro, No Buses??

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Not sure about HCMC but probably I'll get to Hanoi. As far as getting around Hoi An, you can rent a bicycle or motorbike, take one of those xe om things or you can take taxis or buses, but cars and buses don't go through the narrow streets of the old town.

HCMC is a bit of a “westerners soft entry” in to Vietnam. If you want proper Vietnam go to Hanoi.

i think i might be able help , there s an app called 'grab' , which is basically a very affordable taxi service , u could ride on motorbike for cheaper fare , u see the price , u see the driver , cost for destination , paid when ur done , pretty straight forward

There are local buses and they are fun and cheap to ride but hard for non Viet speakers to navigate, although easier by far in Hanoi and HCMC. Train is also a good option between some towns.

What is an American doing in Hoi An Vietnam? Checking to see how far his country achieved in bombing the country back to the stone age ? I have lived, loved and worked in Vietnam. Go home and mend your own country. Vietnam does not need you. But to those who care : Hoi An on a Sunday morning before the tourists arrive is wonderful. Hoi An in full tourist mode is full of energy. The people smile and are friendly and helpful. I have been there at least a dozen times.
    Love it !

Tailoring (and exquisite at that!) is what the Vietnamese are well known for, and boy, it that justified! They can whip up anything, for very little money, in very little time. I think all the guys are taught to sew, at home, as well.

Prices in Vietnam are different for foreigners and Vietnamese.
Vietnamese people are good, but Vietnamese prices are bad for travelers.
Travelers usually pay several times more than Vietnamese people.
Because Vietnamese people are very kind, they usually raise their prices
to the country prices level of travelers. My country In Korea, these
thoughts about Vietnam are getting more and more popular. especialy
    Taxi, Food, Market ETC

Many years ago they used to charge tourists more than locals. But now tourists don't have to worry about that because there's plenty of shops and restaurants with prices posted. However, when you buy things on the streets sometimes you have to bargain.
