This course has a lot to do with psychology. I've been a fighter in my life for a long time. I always put up a fight. You are spot on that we all have a right to be here, we are powerful, and no one has the right to make us question that, because of their own traumas and insecurity and fear. We need to teach people to heal their own wounds rather than project them on others. Unfortunately we can’t help most of these bullies because they do not want to be helped. Thank you so much for making these videos. I was taking classes with grandmaster Chang He teaches judo, taekwondo, and Akido mix. I had to quit because I was going to school during the day and working at night and trying to do the martial arts in the morning before school. Hey! 5 years later, I’m still watching this video. This time, the lesson I decided to take is to breathe, breathe deeply in any situation. It fuels the brain and the muscles.🧠💪🏻
Best video! I practice these techniques, good to know I am practicing martial arts. I just thought, if I have to push this boulder up this hill every day, I'm going to do it with my mind and my spirit as one! Shake the pillars of heaven!
That about to protect my head, my friend told me that too a few days ago, he knows that because he is going kick boxing, but that video teached me how to protect my whole body.
@@AndoMierzwa I’m just waiting for the wax on wax off and paint the fence video! I love that it’s very practical to practice at home and not a fantasy of being a movie star fighter.
I enjoyed finishing this to my thought of practicing as you described into a slow cadence, at position of attention calf raises with long breaths. Could also add stomach vacuums and something for upper torso, make it more comprehensive. Maybe not more affective.
This lesson was worth the wait! You are a great teacher. I like how you combine mental strength with physical and sprinkle some humor at times. Thank you for this wonderful lesson number 3! Do you watch Cobra Kai? :)
I would like an expertly advice, say I'm walking down the street and a person or a group of guys look at me aggressively or like they want to intimidate me what is the best way to handle it?
Another excellent video Ando 👍 One thing I'd like to say, that simply works for me, it's not advice, it's not intended as a contradiction to your point on not allowing yourself to shrink, because that is so so important. It's simply a comparison that I find interesting and hope that you might find interesting too. So one of the things that I have learned in all my years of Martial Arts and Self Defense is "Fight on Your Terms/React Unexpectedly, as Opposed to Reacting the Way They Want You To. That's How They Win." I am naturally a very nice person, skinny, and have always seemed "Weak". I look that way, even nerdy, however I have learned to use that to my advantage, as an "Act". Yes, as you say, it does absolutely make for an easier target, and in fact that has happened with me once or twice, but I use it against them. They get one heck of a surprise to find out that I am not simply some skinny weakling, but rather a nasty adversary. It's a preemptive psychological attack, that automatically leads into an unexpected response from me, attacking their mind and intent at its core. I use my "weakness" as my greatest strength, and it actually makes me more confident in myself, and in my training. I always hear people saying things like "You don't look like much" and I simply reply with "That's the idea, I do it on purpose, like camouflage." Just thought I'd weigh in and maybe say that it is possible to even trick your own mind into thinking it is strong, even when you seem/feel weak. 😉
Hey Ando, well thought, put together and presented, little lecture here,. Its not often my family find ourselves having a productive half hour discussion on the content of a youtube video, and so, hats off to you! Respect and thanks, from a budding family of Aussie Taekwondoists
I had a smart alec "self-defense" instructor once tell me I was doing it All wrong.... SO_ I invited him to put on full padding etc. and let's try it again-- He says " I don't need any padding- you'll never make contact"-- he very much regretted that less than 2 minutes later.. I also guarantee he's NOT going to be judging anyone because they do differently than what he does either!! :) GREAT VIDEO.. as usual.. I "rarely" ever us a "stance" any more.. especially if it's a surprize encounter that turns into a TRANSACTION.. and I'm NOT going to pay for it.. havne't but TWICE!!!
Thank you Ando, I've found your channel 3 days ago, And I've been watching every single video in there, Different from the other masters, You show life advice too. Even my self-confident is being increased after watching your videos and learning from you, I appreciate your work. I still have a broken knuckles from punch before, the smallest one to the right on my right hand, Since that time, I stopped and starting to avoid fighting which reduced my self-confident cause I felt like every punch may hurt me, But I saw your video about which knuckles are alright to fight safely. So, Your channel is just awesome, Keep up the amazing work
Nice to meet you! Sorry about your knuckle, but glad you're still on the road to improving yourself. You're be better than ever in no time! Keep fighting! :)
I have one question. I know that it's bad when you stop breathing when under stress. I notice people (including me) do that when trying to practice complex move, so being scared or angry is not the only stress that makes you hold your breath. My question is what if you are in a fight. How do you breathe then. Do you try to not breathe too fast? One of the teachers I had said that you shouldn't let yourself breathe uncontrollably when you get tired. You should always try to somewhat control your breath and prevent it from going too fast. Of course you will need more oxygen so you should breathe a bit faster and deeper, but try to keep it under control. Is that a good thing to do? Some people say you should trust your body. If it wants to breathe fast, do it.
Like anything, extremes are usually not good. Breathing naturally, as much as you need, is good enough... walking or fighting. Training helps control the emotions, whcih allows the breathing to be natural.
Calming Breathes, Taking one to three deep breaths when under stressors. Taking a deep breath really does calm you down by triggering neurons in your brain which tell the body it is time to relax, a new study has found. ... The neurons which link breathing to to relaxation, attention, excitement and anxiety are located deep in the brainstem. Power of science right?
Note: If you get hit in the liver, you're going down. Protect your head and sides. I watched a video on it earlier. It showed clips of boxers (i think) getting kicked/punched in the liver and they just dropped.
I try everything to gain confidence but nothing work on me I am trying to follow every step you are guiding by seeing one video on daily basis hope it helps I feel confident now☺️and these things definitely help one day I believe 😊😊thankyou so much sir ji. ❤ From haryana
You are really best your video worth of million likes as you have unique way of teaching thanks for giving such self defense classes And from which country you belong sir?
I'm a computer guy, tied to a chair all day. When I started training few years ago I started fixing my stances everywhere. On the chair, when standing, walking or lifting things.I more and more try to have straight and relaxed stance. It's not easy because I'm a little late for that, but anything is better than nothing. There is a big improvement for my back pain and overall condition. I'm 63 kg and getting heavy things out of my car's trunk is not an easy job, but now I don't feel that much stress in my waist when I do that. I just don't bend over that much. Stance is important not only for self-defense.
And a story to show that stance and breathing is important. If you are at the airport and someone comes to you and says "do you need a taxi". The answer should be "No". But the guy kept insisting "It'll be cheap ... bla bla". So we negotiated a price and I went with him knowing that it might cost me a lot more. I noticed a legit taxi of known company, but I still didn't know if he's a fraud. When we were at the half the road I noticed the taximeter was going over the agreed amount so I said "You know we have an agreement, right?" and I was pissed when he said "are you doubting the taximeter". But I staid calm, I made myself comfortable, I tried to breathe normally. So when we arrived the taximeter showed double the price I usually pay, but I payed what we agreed, ready to fight with words or punches, but he said only "could you at least tip me for a coffee". I gave him tip because I know what we agreed to is lower than usual. I've had the same situation few times before. They never give up that easy. If you try to talk to them - they abuse you. If you start yelling to them - they respond with the same. If you talk calm, but determined and keep your confidence, then you have a fighting chance.

Ando Mierzwa ok thank you so much for your help
Thank you for taking your time to help others
It is my pleasure! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Almost got into a fight the other week and I agree, I feel like the guy was picking on me because I came off as weak with my posture, I tried defending my self verbally but my body language didn't show it so the instigator was probably even more confident and thought I was no threat. Not gonna lie I was a bit nervous but still ready to fight
Jeremy Whitfield,
Better to avoid any fights unless you don't have a choice left.
K Ismail ur absolutely right, sometimes ego does get in the way though, unfortunately
Glad you're okay, Jeremy! It's also great how you see yourself so clearly… that makes development and improvement much easier! Keep fighting!
True dat!
Ando Mierzwa thank you

U do a great job of engaging your audience.
I'm very grateful for every single person who stops by! Thank you!
Another brilliant and - yes - inspiring video. Thanks!
My pleasure, RoseAnne! Thank you!
Using my knees like springs! Very useful when falling and trying to get back on my legs ... running like a chicken until able to stop! Very good lesson in life! I keep training my knees.
Yes! You're a spring chicken, Ingrid! :D
LOL!!!!! A SPRING chicken who had just FALLen!
Ando you are too much! Long time ago the I have been a young chick! I am more like in my FALL(ing) season!
Keep clucking, Ingrid! :)
Sure will! That's the easy part!
Hey! 5 years later, I’m still watching this video. This time, the lesson I decided to take is to breathe, breathe deeply in any situation. It fuels the brain and the muscles.🧠💪🏻
God love you Ando....Wishes & prayers.
Love and prayers to you, too, sir!
Love you sir ❤️
Thank you sensei. It is very timely for me. Thank you for ur wise words and sound advice
My pleasure! Hope you're okay!
Best video! I practice these techniques, good to know I am practicing martial arts. I just thought, if I have to push this boulder up this hill every day, I'm going to do it with my mind and my spirit as one! Shake the pillars of heaven!
Keep shaking! :)
That about to protect my head, my friend told me that too a few days ago, he knows that because he is going kick boxing, but that video teached me how to protect my whole body.
Yes! Head first… then everything else. 👍🏼
Quote of the day: The Secret to inspiration is inspiration!!
Glad you liked that!👍🏼
Thank you very much for these videos
Thank you very much for watching! 🙏🏻
It was like this series was made for me! Thanks for creating this!
I truly appreciate that, Chris! Thank you and happy training! 🙏🏻
@@AndoMierzwa I’m just waiting for the wax on wax off and paint the fence video! I love that it’s very practical to practice at home and not a fantasy of being a movie star fighter.
@@chrissosa1395 Ha! No waxing, but definitely practical. Real life can be far more interesting than fantasy if we pay attention. 😁
I enjoyed finishing this to my thought of practicing as you described into a slow cadence, at position of attention calf raises with long breaths. Could also add stomach vacuums and something for upper torso, make it more comprehensive. Maybe not more affective.
Hey Ando great advice often overlooked but crucial to your art and every day life
Agreed! Thanks for the comment!
This video is just great and an inspiration indeed
Thank you very much!
Once again, another great video!
Once again, thank you for your support! :)
I like how you demonstrated my favorite stance. Also, Uncle Iroh did say that power comes from the breath, not the muscles.
Wise words. :-)
This self defense video dare I say came in handy for me
I truly hope so! Thank you for the comment!
Thanks for the video. This is definitely something I agree with. I'm going to share theses lesson with my family ;p
That is a great complement. Thank you for your good heart!
Thank you very much 💙
I will follow ur advice
thks
Can you make videos more often? I like your videos!
I'm working on that! :)
This lesson was worth the wait! You are a great teacher. I like how you combine mental strength with physical and sprinkle some humor at times. Thank you for this wonderful lesson number 3! Do you watch Cobra Kai? :)
Thank you! It all goes together, right? Mind, body, and spirit. Haven't seen Cobra Kai yet... but I will! :)
You're welcome, Ando. It definitely does go together and now I see more benefits in learning self-defense. OK, that's great! :)
I would like an expertly advice, say I'm walking down the street and a person or a group of guys look at me aggressively or like they want to intimidate me what is the best way to handle it?
I learned so much from you!!! Thank you!
My pleasure! 🙏🏻
That's How They Win."
I am naturally a very nice person, skinny, and have always seemed "Weak".
I always hear people saying things like "You don't look like much" and I simply reply with "That's the idea, I do it on purpose, like camouflage."
Just thought I'd weigh in and maybe say that it is possible to even trick your own mind into thinking it is strong, even when you seem/feel weak. 😉
I love all of that, David! Thank you for taking the time to share some good advice. Happy training to you!
@@AndoMierzwa And to you 👍
Hey Ando, well thought, put together and presented, little lecture here,. Its not often my family find ourselves having a productive half hour discussion on the content of a youtube video, and so, hats off to you! Respect and thanks, from a budding family of Aussie Taekwondoists
Did you say a family of Taekwondoists? That's awesome! Keep that family fighting spirit alive, Paul!
Simply...I love this vids...
Thank you very much, Fabian!
Thanks for the valuable information I have benefited from this information
Very happy to hear that! Thank you!
Lesson 3 done.
Thanks Ando👍
My pleasure, Julio!🙏🏻
very good and concise information thank you
My pleasure, sir! Thank you!
Brilliant.
Thank you!
🙏 Excellent
This is so useful, Arigato Sensei
I appreciate the comment. Thank you very much!
Yeah :D *Keep Fighting For a Happy Life*
You got it! :D
Legendary!!!
Ha! Working on it!
Thankyou Sir .
Thank you for being here!
missed your vids Master
Thank you, sir! I'll try to work faster! :-)
Take your time to make these awesome videos, sir. Don’t rush!🙂
Thank you, Rebecca! :)
Ando Mierzwa you’re welcome sir
😊
Lesson 3 ✊🏼
Thanks! 👍🏼
Great video
Appreciate that, Tony!
great videos sensei
Thank you very much, Zeeshan!
Mr Ando pls teach us how to knokdown bad guys
Note: If you get hit in the liver, you're going down. Protect your head and sides.
I watched a video on it earlier. It showed clips of boxers (i think) getting kicked/punched in the liver and they just dropped.
Don't get hit anywhere... that's even better! :)
6:29 someone would just say "Peace was never an option" and close their fist close once the bad guy is too close
Very nice
Thank you!
I try everything to gain confidence but nothing work on me I am trying to follow every step you are guiding by seeing one video on daily basis hope it helps I feel confident now☺️and these things definitely help one day I believe 😊😊thankyou so much sir ji. ❤ From haryana
Yes, Haryana! One day at a time. Build up your courage and skills little by little. That’s how winning is done! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
You make sense. Open hands you can still do a palm strike
Absolutely, Chris. And hopefully, get away without even doing that!
Hey dude thanks for all the defence tactics it helps with my martial arts I do at the moment.
Awesome. That was the goal! Keep fighting!
To anyone thinking that is it helpful?
My answer - it is!!!
I appreciate that. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Ando, 9:52 was absolutely hilarious.
Ha! Thanks, Blake! :)
You are really best your video worth of million likes as you have unique way of teaching thanks for giving such self defense classes
And from which country you belong sir?
Thank you for the kind words! 🙏🏻 I am in Los Angeles, USA. Stay safe!
