I really enjoy the way Mike always just hands people food to try, I don't know if it's just the standard Chinese table manners, but it makes me so happy.
My famly always orders: Har Gao (Shrimp Dumpling), Cheung Fan (Rice Noodle with Soy Sauce), Chinese Sticky Rice, Gai Lan, Chicken Feet, Egg Tarts, Water Chestnut Cake, Shu mai, Sesame Seed Balls, and oh so much more! Pretty much everything you guys covered in this video lol. I heart Dim Sum!!!
Omgosh! What would u suggest I get if it’s just me & my lil daughter? I’m the type of person who LOVES to try new things, no matter what it looks like & im teaching my daughter the same. A lot of my favorite things look weird but they r the best!!! Thnx for this vid!!!
Hey Mike, I love your videos! I have been hooked ever since I saw your hot pot videos (and have been to Hou Yi a number of times now). If Seafood Jewel is your favorite how about a video from there? Just a suggestion.
Good video. There's a dim sum item I've had in Chinatown here in LA. It's a slice of pork with crispy skin, a layer of fat and then tender meat. I think it's cooked with some five spice or something. I don't know the name but it's great. I also got shrimp that were alive a few minutes ago and quickly boiled and seasoned with lots of black pepper. Also the Asian broccoli with hoisin is fabulous. There are also wonderful Chinatown locations in Las Vegas and Calgary, Alta. Love dim sum!!
Point it at yourself if it’s a full table. It’s etiquette used even by gangsters to provoke others by deliberately pointing at rivals with the spout...
i LOOOOOOVE the tsin jo kyun (not sure if that is the right way to spell) but the "tofu skin wrap"...Mike's fave, is also my ALL TIME dim sum favorite aside from the deep fried taro balls....numnums
I have never had sweet rice porridge...but then I'm Viet...southern Viet. It's always savory and with the fried donut sticks...thingy. But thanks for the video. I'm always overwhelmed doing Dim Sum.
I like seeing Cheryl on your show I feel like she compliments the show very well, btw I checked out her channel and subscribed, I hope she gets many more subs soon. but I also hope to keep seeing Cheryl on on your show
Whats Now Mike's made a "x number of classic dim sum dishes you have to try" in like 5 separate but same food channels he's part of. Pretty sure these videos are just an excuse to eat XD
My best friend is Chinese. She took me to Dim Sum in China and i had all of this and loved them all. However, i had no idea what most of it was. Thank you for doing this video!!'😂
I really loved bun, I always get frozen bun when I can't find any bun on the day, I knew it wasn't as good, but I don't have much choice, chicken feet is tasty, I get the appeal, I also did.t like char siu bao and love salty egg bun,
great video, tripe is my all time fav dimsum item, if i go Yumcha and there aint no tripe im mega pissed off, if there is tendons i will be half satisfied.. i always end dimsum with Mango crepes.
This has made me so much more confident to try to order in our local place! They can be a bit aloof with us being white and unsure and that put me right off even trying! We're in rural Scotland and the Chinese community is pretty small in comparison. Thanks x
No sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf? I also prefer steamed char siu bao to the baked one, though they can be a bit of a gut bomb (which is why I only eat 1 and take any leftover ones to go because they reheat in the microwave well). One of my favorite places in Seattle (Jade Garden) also has the special open top shrimp dumpling w/ crab meat, so I get those, regular har gao and cilantro shrimp dumplings.
Shark Fin Inn, Dragon Boat or Gold Leaf in Melbourne :D come, come come!! I grew up picky with my dim sums, so although they can be a bit pricey, quality not quantity!
+Double Chen Hey Mike and Dan, I had to give up most of my dim sum due to a shellfish sensitivity (not full blown allergy but I can handle it cold/uncooked/like in sushi/sometimes in shumi fashion). Any suggestions on dim sum dishes for me as a lot or the ones I find are shellfish based?
+TheMechanicalGirl999 A lot of the dishes they recommended don't have shellfish in them. Like the beef & pork ribs, cha siu bao, beef tendon, rice rolls with beef or chinese donut in them)...the list goes on and on...
My family gets all of these dishes every time we go eat dim sum. xD Except for the pastries and buns, since we usually get them from the local chinese bakery for breakfast. My favorites are the tripe, fung jow, and cheung fun.
Do you take leftovers home? is all Dim Sum in servings of 3? i mean like the dumplings and buns and stuff. Besides hot sauce and mustard, do you put anything on it? Thank you.
I’m part Chinese and I get dim sum with my family all the time, but I’m limited, because I have a seafood allergy. My favorite thing to order is nom bao, the steamed bbq pork buns, or the sesame balls.
"You must be willing to try" THIS! This applies to any Asian cuisine. Most dishes you will have never seen before, but are really good. Don't care about appearance, name, etc. and you will be surprised
I really enjoy the way Mike always just hands people food to try, I don't know if it's just the standard Chinese table manners, but it makes me so happy.
it's pretty common table manner.
Vedder Palmer It's just weird that he passes out the food with the same chopsticks he he with.
That's also part of eastern table manners. We don't really think about reusing utensils as much
Al Funcoot It is actually polite when you hand people food
Cherly's personality is great and the tone of her voice is funny! She is awesome, a great addition to the show. I hope to see more of her!!!!!!!
Agreed
agreed
Yeah she seems super chill and kind of nonchalant. lol
But she licked her chopstick. A big no no
Her voice is deeper than theirs
Man watching this on an empty stomach my mouth is watering nonstop.
I like the guy on the left. Everything was his favourite. "You don't like it!?!".

oh man it all looks so good my mouth is actually drooling now lol I'd try everything on the table mmmmm

My family doesn't even know about that nether do I until I saw this... so... I suppose check up with who you are eating with?
i've never heard this and i've been eating dimsum for a million years.
oops.
Point it at yourself if it’s a full table. It’s etiquette used even by gangsters to provoke others by deliberately pointing at rivals with the spout...

What do you think about Flushing New York? Sounds like a good idea to me.
Like how they said serve the elders first. Referring Mike Chen. Too funny 😆

Mikey Chen:
“First item - FAVOURITE THING EVER!”
“Second item - FAVOURITE THING EVER!”
“Third item - FAVOURITE THING EVER!”
“Seventh item - FAVOURITE THING EVER!”
I love Cheung Fun. Used to eat it a lot. Now not so much.
After his Hong Kong experience "this is so pedestrian!!" Hahahaha wtf?! Love it! I'm also ESL! He's got some of the best channels
I'm willing to try others, but I could live off hargow. Sooooo yum 💖
I looooooooove turnip cakes!
Also rice rolls, siu mai, salty egg bun, and red bean sesame balls. Cha siu bao sometimes, I prefer the steamed ones.
I love tendon. But I only found it was a thing in Asia two years ago. Before, it was the extra yummy part of a pot roast.
Watching this n right now it is midnight. Really starving 😭
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello guys first time watching one of your videos. Would like to know the name of the restaurant and where is located? Thank you.
+Yary Leas Its the Jade Asian Restaurant in Flushing,NY
I really loved bun, I always get frozen bun when I can't find any bun on the day,
I knew it wasn't as good, but I don't have much choice,

My absolute favourite dim sum dish is the siew mai, sooooo goooood
This has made me so much more confident to try to order in our local place! They can be a bit aloof with us being white and unsure and that put me right off even trying! We're in rural Scotland and the Chinese community is pretty small in comparison.

Dan, Loved your portrayal as a Doctor !!
Aawww... you guys are making me so hungry! 😊
what if the table was surrounded, where would you point the spout of the tea thing? upwards?
I'm assuming you'd point it between two people.
No sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf? I also prefer steamed char siu bao to the baked one, though they can be a bit of a gut bomb (which is why I only eat 1 and take any leftover ones to go because they reheat in the microwave well). My mouth is watering...😛😛😛

You have such an appetite.
Like the beef & pork ribs, cha siu bao, beef tendon, rice rolls with beef or chinese donut in them)...the list goes on and on...
eescorpius, my parents REFUSE to take me thinking 90% of it's shellfish/seafood an there will be ZERO there for me!
Don't worry...there's a lot! Even if you get noodles and fried rice you can customize and ask them for no shellfish/seafood!
I know and I have told them that and they still refuse! Ugh parents!
I love dim sum especially the traditional way with ladies pushing carts.
Love the Kikkoman T shirt!
I live in Alaska, there is no Dim Sum place here... At all. And the thing that I miss most, having Dim Sum with my family in Oakland.. TwT
is this the jade restaurant in flushing?
HOW COULD U HAVE FORGOTTEN LO MAI GAI!!!!
Where you buy the kikkoman tshirt?
I agree with Cheryl, beef tendon is delicious.
The whole experience is Yum Cha, Dim Sum is the food!
December 19, 2018 at 2:23 am. Who else is watching at this time? Makes me hungry and crave for dim sum 😭😭
My family gets all of these dishes every time we go eat dim sum. xD Except for the pastries and buns, since we usually get them from the local chinese bakery for breakfast. My favorites are the tripe, fung jow, and cheung fun.
Remember that one time when Mike said DON'T order vegetables at dim sum? ;)
what's the name of this restaurant?I live in queens and never heard of it. I usually go to dimsum in Manhattan.
Do you take leftovers home?

I’m part Chinese and I get dim sum with my family all the time, but I’m limited, because I have a seafood allergy. My favorite thing to order is nom bao, the steamed bbq pork buns, or the sesame balls.

Travel to Flushing for work last week .Dim Sum are so so ,very reasonable price but if you don't mind the rudest service.
