I just started my journey since first learning about SF back in Nov 2019 and just earned my very first SF Admin certification this past Nov 2020. This definitely gives me a better idea how to organize my goals for this year 2021 and then start pursuing some experience within the SF ecosystem. Really appreciate all the information...and also the great humor in your videos :)
Sound quality is great. Money well spent David. I did had to dial back the volume for your video. Hate to think what it would be like if turned up to 11.
Love the video! Background and sound has definitely changed a lot since you started the channel! Also, got a lot of value from the info in the video. We all thank you and keep it up!
If you've done QA automation or SQL then dev is a natural extension. If not then I'd recommend you check out my Salesforce personality test video + results
All the Salesforce jobs I'm seeing are asking for 1 of (sometimes all) 4 certifications after the admin cert: - CPQ Specialist - Sales Cloud Consultant - Service Cloud Consultant - Advanced Admin Is the platform app builder cert that you recommend just a filler to make the resume look good with many certifications?
Thank you Sir for the great material and tips. I want to mimic your path in order to switch careers. May I ask, do you have a Quick guide on how to get the FIRST Salesforce Admin certificate, in order to get it rolling and be extra motivated ? I've seen your necessary badge video (also amazing one ;)) but would appreciate maybe something even more broken down, in order to get the Salesforce Admin certification in let's say 1 month. Cheers, Nicolas from Berlin :)
Hey, I saw your video and I am truly inspired to have a path for the certifications required to be a well rounded Salesforce Developer. I am currently learning to get the Administrator Certification but I have had a very deep inner feeling that I may need to get a few more so I can become much more marketable. I would definitely like to the get the other 4 but I am not too sure how to go about it or know what programs that offers the right level of training so I can pass those certs. I recently graduated with a cert in software engineering learning Java and JavaScript so this shouldn't be as hard with that level of foundation. I am currently unemployed so I am going to need some type of scholarship to get these other certs. Please reach out to me by email if you can. I am open to learn whatever I need to know I can become as marketable as possible.
@@littlebitofhope1489 it’s not, but getting certs doesn’t guarantee a job. You have to network, and adequate work experience helps, not particularly in Salesforce. I was a contract officer for nearly 20 years before I became a Salesforce consultant…I’m sure the contract experience helped me get the job more so than the certs but the certs opened up the door.
Hi David, I have a specific questions please: I'm looking to get into both Salesforce certifications and Programming as a complete newbie to both; what would your recommendations be as to how I should plan to do both at the same time all the while doing them in awhile that complements and builds on each other to be more efficient? Thank you so much in advance JS
Technical Architect here. Get Admin cert first as all admins also do config as well, then do platform dev 1 then get JS dev as you will be mainly working in LWC most of the time building custom components. After that is specializing.
Sir I really appreciate your videos but I am changing my field in covid time from tourism to developer.. my question is if it's hard for beginners like me to do that and choosing sale developer programme is the right choice
Vanu, I will go on a limb here and give my opinion since I am on a similar path as yours. I got my Admin Certification last month and I'm currently studying for the Platform App Developer Cert. Whenever I'm procrastinating, I check on LinkdedIn for jobs and see that there is demand. That helps me get back to studying. Personally, my goal is just to get my foot in the door and work my way up from there while gathering both experience and certs. My current job is not where I would like to be, and I have used videos like this one to realize I can do something about my future. Is it 100% certain? Definitely not. No one knows the future. But the more I play around trailhead, take courses, and just study the platform seriously, the more I feel my confidence rising. I have seen many, many people share their stories of how they got into the industry and although it would be easier for me to take the Admin path, I chose the developer path because it's a little more challenging. So, no one will know what the right choice is. You just have to pick a path and do your best. I think once you get the first certification, you'll have more confidence to start looking for work AND studying for your next certification. The fact that you're watching David shows you're on the right path. Just keep going and good luck on your journey! I wish you the very best.
Wow David I did not expect such fast response.. :) thanks so much... Will check fash cards... your trailmix of important badges is just for admin course ? Or dev as well ?
Hey David! Great video as always. I wanted to ask, what is your recommendation for pre-work/exercises in learning before going into Platform Developer 1? I found myself lacking in a lot of aspects when attempting the modules on trailhead. It's a field I have very little experience in but do want to learn.
Thanks! Admin cert mainly for an intro to Salesforce. Trailhead assumes you have existing programming experience so it's not the best starting point. Of course I'm gonna plug my Apex Academy because it actually starts at 0! Bit.ly/go-apex
What of someone with an I.T Degree, would I still need all of these? I primarily develop iOS apps, but I want to do both salesforce as a job and iOS as freelance/Hobby.
You will still need certs with your degree. I don't think you'll be competitive or learn quickly enough if you are focusing on multiple technologies. Also, I you can't specialize in Apex only, you'll need to do front end as well.
Im a data analyst, working mostly in spreadsheets and SQL. I wanted to get into SFDC career. Should I get admin certification in 2021? Please share your thoughts.
in my case I live in cuba and now i move to canada, i have 4 years working as a salesforce developer and admin for 3 different american companies and zero certification because i cant make certifications in cuba for the embargo laws against the communist dictatorship of my country, so... in my case i am going to need 5 certification for entry level? the 4 years of experience helps if i dont have certifications?
I am a Java Developer with 5 years of experience.. I have never worked in Salesforce. From which certification should I start? Will a certification help me to get a job in salesforce field?
5 certifications suggestion is really crazy. you will have to study around 15/18 months for that. I think that getting 3 certifications and solving super badges will help you get a job. David is always spreading too much negativity about salesforces.
You also made a video about the admin role going away and being replaced with developer but no mention of developer in this lineup. Can you explain please?
Happy you’re back... it has being a while and your words are important to me :)
Thank you 😭😭😭
Been waiting for this video since the last certification tiers video, thank you so much David!!
Hope it lived up to your expectations!!!!!

Any feelings about the new B2C Solution Arch cert? Another niche? F U? or ???
Yea super niche, totally only for increasing F U count 👍
Hi David, thank you for this great video. Just one off-topic question ... what type of camera/microphone are you using? The quality is amazing.

Awesome video thank you David :)
What are your thoughts on the new business analyst certification can you do a vid on it as this role seems to be expanding
Great cert, I would 100% get it if I was an admin. Realistically it will take time until the market picks it up, at least a year
Thanks David!

Don't know marketing cloud that well unfortunately!!
@@dvdkliu that's too bad. Love your content though! ♥️
What about consultant path? :)
Similar to admin! But certainly get more if the consultant labeled certs
@@dvdkliu Thanks a lot!
What does Salesforce (4x certified; 3⭐ Ranger) mean?
It means they got 300 badges, 300k+ points and obtained 4 certifications…basically a lot of time spent in trailhead learning sales force
@@Natureboy8383 Thanks Does that cost a lot? Does it make you more money working for Salesforce?
@@littlebitofhope1489 signing up for trailhead is free, the exams cost roughly 200 depending on the exam.

Is it possible to get the Platform Developer I certification without having the Administrator one, thus zero experience in the field?
Yup! I generally don't recommend it, but if you've already got developer experience it's not a bad route

Try some flashcards and see how you do. Then adjust accordingly
