1025r: 200hr Maintenance At 100 or 50?

  • A little more info on the 2038r. JD Surpasses the 100 hour mark. The manual says to wait until 200 hours for fluid changes, but the 2017 says to do it at 50? So I compromise and do it now. In the process it appears I don't need to remove the rear tire or do what Tim says.

    Love the suggestion of just loosening the bolt for the hydraulic screen, thx!

      Going to change mine this weekend but only have about 95 hours. It’s about 4 years old so it’s due.

    Definitely thanks for the tip on getting the screen out, that will be a huge time (and frustration) saver next time. I did the change at 50 hrs on my 1025r as well earlier this summer, from everything I read I didn’t see any harm in doing it and figured it would be good to get any initial material out of the screen sooner rather than later.
    It’s interesting that your steering cylinder leaked. I had to have mine in for a warranty repair this summer and it was the hydraulic connection on the steering cylinder. I was moving the tractor in my barn and got off and noticed a huge puddle of oil (NOT something you ever want to see under your tractor). When I checked it out the connection on the steering cylinder was only finger tight. I tightened it but it wouldn’t stop leaking. It ended up being the o-ring inside the connection was torn, most likely from being loose and hydraulic fluid shooting past it. Something simple to replace, but the dealer had to do it as it was under warranty. Anyway, I just though it was curious that you had the same issue. It is something I am keeping an eye on to make sure it doesn’t loosen up again.
    Thanks again for the great videos!

    I have 51 hours on my 2018 - 3025E J.D tractor. I planning on doing my 50 hour maintenance. Thanks, you couldn't have done this at a better time. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    I just got my tractor pressure washed and in the garage to start my 200-hour service and came in for a break and ran across your video. I am very thankful I did. I will try your helpful hints and let you know how it goes. Thanks.

    Thanks for the tip on getting the screen out. I did the change at 50 hrs and plan to do it at 250 which is just a few hours away. I am now at 235 hours. The 50 hr change was done by the dealer but the next one I will do.

    I believe the manual states to loosen that bolt as well. Mine is leaking around those clamps, been too cold to look at it, but that looks like where it is leaking for some reason. Late 2018 model with about 106 hrs.

    Great video! I had the top hose clamp moved up before finding your video. At 13:52 when you're putting the screen back in... How did you get the hose and elbow seated all the way in before tightening the screw? I'm having a heck of a time. Thanks in advance.

      I can't find in manual when the change intervals are. It says to check it at 50hrs, but that was all I saw. There might be a pt 2 as the kit did not include the inline fuel filter either.

    • @kirkbrinkley6990
      @kirkbrinkley6990 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its possible that service interval changed with the refresh, also. My tractor is a 2014 model. Those year models called for a 50 hour break in service. Models like yours after the refresh may not. I do my front axle every 200 hours, though.

    Excellent video! Like the hydraulic fluid screen removal tip.
    Question? Did you buy and replace the under chassis fuel filter? And yes, inquiring minds want to know why it was not in the JD kit.

  • @jerrybrock5335

    I did the same. Difference is mine is a 2017. I had to do mine at 50 hrs. And drain the front axle oil and put new hydraulic oil in it.

    On my 2013 1025R, the front axle is a separate hydraulic fluid reservoir. I changed that fluid on the 200 hour maintenance, as well.

    • @ataleofthreecabins1025
      @ataleofthreecabins1025  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could not find an interval for changing it. How did the fluid look after 200hrs?

    • @terryluebbe2560
      @terryluebbe2560 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may have assumed it was part of the 200 hour maintenance. I bought it used, so I wanted to be thorough. It was at 400 hours, and looked very clear.

    Did you not change the fuel filter underneath the left floorboard? That's the most important one because it is so small..

    Couple of questions. I have a 2016 1023E and at the time they recommended changing these at 50 hrs so I did. ( now I have over 200 and need to think about the next change). Adding engine oil. My 1023E has a cap in the valve cover also. Doesn't the 1025R? Second question. Don't you have an inline fuel filter under the floor boards just as the full line leaves the tank or was that eliminated? It is a pain to change. I do both fuel filters annually.

    • @ataleofthreecabins1025
      @ataleofthreecabins1025  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did notice the 2nd inline filter while changing the hydraulic fluid, the 200hrs kit did not come with one, so I guess I'll look into that. I only no of the oil fill right near the dip stick.

    I was really wanting a 2038 by the local JD dealer talked me into the 1025r. For the size I’m happy mostly but still wish I had some more power when using the loader... what are your overall experience with the 2038, happy, sad, indifferent? I’m right at 50hr with mine and it’s been a decent work horse.

      I usually go to the Ag Pro on Rt82. Usually talk to Jon. Most other there I usually stump them with my tractor questions. If your doing a large purchase, you can save a little on county tax via Medina or Lorain.
