      You're almost right. 1. The test is only every 12,000Km. On examination I never found dirt that justifies that opening. When practicing it not take a lot of time, and the price is not that expensive (Three gaskets+ One oil seal). 3. Even when my bearings were faild the filter was still not dangerously clogged.
      th-cam.com/video/TRqa89ePnMA/w-d-xo.html
      My Conclusion (According to the manufacturer's instructions evry 12Km) Not recommended at all but possible: If you don't open, and if you did open, maybe for replace the CLUTCH PLATE BRAKE(After 39,000Km?) then clean the filters before closing.

      The little dirt caught in the filters stays in the filters and does not criculatedd freely in the engine. This is what the filters do.

      There are two filters. The centrifugal is collecting fine residues, and there is the strainer. You are inventing an unusual problem that does not exist.

    I'm glad to hear that the film was helpful to you. Now remains to hope that during cleaning gasket sealing, surface is not damaged. "Gasket Remover" SPRAY can help very much: CRC 05021 OR compatible, I'll try it next time.
    I have not found in the Haynes manual, the tightening torque. I tightened the screws with the sense of a mechanic.
    Be careful, do not over-tighten, because the castings made of aluminum.

    Unbelievably, Haynes have classed the ‘oil filter and strainer’ difficultly as one spanner! 🤣 As you commented below, it’s not for the faint hearted and I would not recommend any new and even intermediate amateur mechanic attempt this on their own . Even taking the clutch casing off requires some serious skill! People may disagree, but I would suggest newbies just change the oil and allow a mechanic to change and clean the filter and strainer.

    • @MyINNOVAMotorcycling
      @MyINNOVAMotorcycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, thanks for the nice and detailed response. I do not know on the basis of which Haynes determine the degree of difficulty. In this case almost no special tools are needed, the hardest part is cleaning the paper gasket residues, because if you are not careful you will spoil the sealing surface. And there is the difficulty of returning the parts of the clutch mechanism back in place.
      I agree with you. I so agree with you that I am extreme in the other direction, so you will not find me encouraging people to DIY motorcycle repair. The mechanical job takes a lot more previous knowledge that my videos can not cover.
      P.S. Under normal conditions of use the Innova's filters hardly get dirty. The Honda asks to check them every 12,000Km, but they have no tendency to collect dirt even after 12,000Km. Their efficiency is only for large particles, so it is important to change oil in time, and use high quality oil.

    Thank's. As shown in video, my filters passed 12,000 km but they do not really required an URGENT cleaning.
    Plug replaced many times not because he ended his life time, it replace because it's cheap and easy to access.
    The parts necessary to clean the filters are cheap, but filters are not easy to access.
    Garage owners who hold their statistics might prefer not to open, and cleaning the filters maybe after 30,000 Km or so, when replacing the clutch pads? Don't rush to judge Motorcycle shops.

  • @MyINNOVAMotorcycling
    @MyINNOVAMotorcycling  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    thanks
    I stopped at a point where I looked and saw that is no need to replace pads.
    I think the clutch pads should hold about 30 thousand Km. according to table treatments, cleaning filters treatment will return in 24 thousand Km. I do not especially open at 24 to reopen at 30, partly because of my filters were pretty clean after 12 Km (I do not ride in difficult conditions and unpaved roads). So when the time comes (I guess), I replaced pads and I'll clean the filters at the same time.

    • @MyINNOVAMotorcycling
      @MyINNOVAMotorcycling  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not a bad design, it's a bullet-proof motorcycle. I also felt a certain frustration. After the first treatment, I saw that it was not complicated and was only required once in 12,000 kilometers. The straineris is a multi-time strainer, but you must pay for spare parts associated with "Big-opening". The purpose of the strainer is to filter out large parts, for example: if the pads are not replaced and begin to tear apart, or metal chips in the stage running new engine for the first time. In normal use it is no tendency to get dirty.
      Checked every 12,000 Km
      Maybe you can check it with a borescope from the oil drain opening? Maybe a flashlight is also good enough. I'll try to check it at the next oil change..
      Thanks

In this case continued riding destroys the transmission, and worse, it can be dangerous for you. Such serviceman have a lot of patience, if you have an urgent repair, contact the garage. At least right now on the Haynes website the price is £26 / 30€ for on line file, and £35 / 40€ for the printed copy? And you can search on Amazon and Ebay, and today you can also find second hand.
      haynes.com/en-gb/honda-scooter/anf125-innova-scooter/2003-2012-0
      And if 50€? Is this what will prevent you from purchasing? A do-it-yourself mechanics hobby is not designed to save money, like any hobby it costs money: you learn from your mistakes, you buy tools... until you manage to reach a level where you can save money it can take many years.

    I though innova maintenance was easier than a scooter but it isn't for sure! All that work just to reach oil filter? And all seals replaced only after 12000km? My sh300 is almost 40 000km and all the seals are from factory!

      Keep in your mind, with the maintain cost price of variator transmission
      in SH300, I buy another new Innova. Even my tires with tube, much cheaper
      then yuor SH300 tires without inner tube. Never the less, I think I'm the
      only one in the world that actually did that treatment, the filters were
      not really dirty.
      I think 99.99 percent of garages open the lid only
      for the purpose of exchanging clutch pads
      (In 40,000 maybe 70,000 km?).
      In the oil Filters Cleaning Treatment you need to invest only in four
      original gaskets that cost nothing. Only in the innova when you don't
      replace the air filter, your fuel consumption jumping up till 62 km for
      liter. Therefore the " INNOVA CUB" is the number one machine

      When you know what you're doing, it's not that complicated. Now at 25,000 km I repeated it again. It cost me pennies. Again I found the oil filters clean. However, I see no reason to give up on this treatment.

      the square mesh filter is only the "rough filter" which indeed does not get really dirty and can be manually cleaned. what most people do not know - and hence miss - is the fact that the Innnova has a genial "centrifugal oil filter", which is the triangular part with the gasket which was (correctly) cleaned with a cloth in the video as well (@ 6:32). here, the "real" dirt will collect. there are in fact no new parts needed at all to do this - but replacing its seal is of course a good idea, if you do have one handy.

      It is possible, but in the end you must remove the rider's footrest and the kickstart lever, so it is better to start with them, because like this you have more accessibility to the exhaust.

    • @MyINNOVAMotorcycling
      @MyINNOVAMotorcycling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CUB engine mechanics is more basic and does not include any grooves or oil passages types that could be clogging by micron parts. Honda recommends a quality semi-synthetic oil, and changing the oil every 4000 km. The oil that is spilled out at the changing process takes all the dirt with him, but it never happened that I noticed a particles or other residues in my eye. When the engine is working hard or in an environment with a lot of dust and sand, Honda recommend to advance the oil change accordingly, let's say every 1500 km. Besides, in my little experience, if the engine is working normally the filters stay clean, and if the engine is not working properly, the filters will not help, as in the situation I had and required to open the engine (engine overhaul).
      It will be clarified, according to the Honda recommendation, the filters cleaning job is according to Honda schedules.

      @@MyINNOVAMotorcycling It takes quite a few miles to build up any sludge deposits on an air cooled engin with a service time of 4000-5000 miles....½ that under hard conditions which is pretty much all typs of driving. Judging from the metal shavings the engine is made of poor material and or the lurication is not working! These little engins run HOT! with no oil cooler, to my mind this engine should use a 5-10w-40 Groupp lll Hydro-Crack (Full) Synthetic Oil with an oil change of no longer than 3000 miles.

      I did not really understand what you wanted to add, the CUB engines are unusually reliable, and can easily carry 70,000 and 100,000 kilometers, before engine overhaul. In my case, the engine came damaged from the factory so aluminum chips started to fall into it and later on they also caused a total failure in the bearings, it happened after 39,000 km, but that is not the typical case.
      Maybe someday I will upload a video to explaining the damage in engine that occurred in the engine case during the production stages at the factory.

      The hobby of motorcycle mechanics is a hobby that needs to be progressed with gradually and patiently, and if repair is not successful you should not hesitate and should contact an authorized garage, because it is a matter of safety! You should taking care of health with protective equipment (gloves, mask, etc), no less and more than care about the success of the repair. The hobby requires a lot of knowledge, a convenient place to work, and of course suitable tools. The tools are also acquired over the time, from job to job and as needed. Investing in a basic tool box for motorcycle mechanics is not cheap. Like any hobby the goal is to have fun and not to save money. When you reach a high level only then you can talk about saving money. You mention the issue of "Time" and reaching to high level is a matter of years.

Not everyone has the technical skills, and others do not have the time, and it is okay to give a livelihood to authorized garages.
      Even a simple job like changing the oil can not be successful and costly if you breaking the threaded at the aluminum case. Main Chain Tensioning that done carelessly can lead to serious injury. Therefore the definition of "simple jobs" can be very misleading.

      Yes. Fillets of two types. the centrifugal, and the strainer. But it's not that they have a tendency to get dirty, it's more important to make sure the oil is of high quality. and apply more frequently change than the usual recommendation. Let's say once every one thousand kilometers instead of once every four thousand kilometers.
