I theorise that somewhere in Africa may be able to supply them, perhaps Egypt or Morocco.

How do you know its ripe fruit isn't toxic?
I know that many Solanum fruits are edible ripe but I'm still curious because of how toxic most of this tree is.

@Isaac, I have been eating the berries for many years, also to quote Tim Low “the berries were eaten by colonists.” pg. 189, Wild Food Plants of Australia.
In any case, people eat many toxic substances, like alcohol, gluten, phytates, cyanide in almonds.
Toxic and deadly are two very different things.
Plus we have to take into account bioaccumulation over decades.
Heck, even sugar is toxic, causing hepatotoxicity and obesity.

@@Ilovethebush I know that almost all edible things we eat (even including some meat) are least a tiny bit toxic but I still asked because I couldn't find the plant's fruit nutrition nor composition online.
I know that these fruits haven't killed anyone when ripe, but that doesn't mean its totally safe either. For example, lead was used for such a long time in so many things because it generally takes a long time to kill someone. Although trying a few once would very likely not hurt anyone but I'd like to try to find out their composition first before eating them more lol

@@Isaac-ho8gh go primitive and do away with the long list of internet precheck. Use the Universal Edibility Test, we have a video on it.
It is also used by the armies of the world.

@@Ilovethebush oh wow, I didn't know about that but fair enough since militaries need to know about every food source where they are lol

Hey does the smoking part apply to all solanum mauritianum?

    • @Ilovethebush
      @Ilovethebush  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Solanum mauritianum is only one plant.
Are you asking if the smoking applies to all solanums?
The answer to that is ‘No.’

@@Ilovethebush so theyre safe to smoke when dry roight?

'Safe' is a subjective term, as we are unable to give medical advice on this channel.
I have smoked it, with nil adverse affects other than the side effects of nicotine. Depending on what culture and time period, smoking has been seen as positive and health promoting and also detrimental and disease promoting.
      E.g.
Western (European and English speaking) culture in the early 1900's promoted cigarettes as healthy, using 'alleged' doctors for T.V. promotional ads.
Current Western culture, now condemns the act of smoking.
Various branches of Chinese medicine consider the lungs to be the 'sensitive-organ' and strongly encourage the avoidance of smoking of any kind.
Various cultures use various kinds of smoke to cleanse 'unwanted energies.'
So, this is a varied topic and subjective.
