It's amazing how the slick and narrow continental tires survive the gravel sections. I'm inspired to do multi-day bike packing trips now. Awesome video. 👌
Great video, thanks for sharing. I pack a tubolito now as my spare inner tube because I also run tubeless and the size and weight difference between that and a regular tube is huge. Good luck with your next adventure!
Honestly this video is great . Still haven't mastered knowing what the best setup is for bike packing as I feel like I overpack some things and not enough in others this should help
Ever considered using Lupine lamps? Top quality lamps from germany. The rear light "Rotlicht" in "max" version can run up to 60 (!) hours. The front light SL AF / Nano even got a high beam. 👍🏻👍🏻
I like that Cyclite aero bar bag; bought one! (they should pay you!) Recommend look at the Nitecore Nu25 for lightweight headlamp. I have both the old one and the new V2. Both charge quick and have last hours. The V2 has a red light I really like for camping. (V2 is 46.5g.)
Great video, thanks for sharing all your in-depth information. One question: how to you attach the front bag to the handlebar/aerobar. I see you use the dedicated clip-on bars from Deda, but as these are not round how to attach the bag? Thanks upfront!
I have just subscribed to your chanel. Nice videos and great information. Could you please tell me the aerobarr you use and more inportant since I am in the process of choosing one, how did you choose yours? Many thanks from Spain 😘
Muchas gracias Paco! I chose the Deda Jet aero bars because they have a nice arm rest which I find really nice and allows me to get into the position I find most comfortable. When choosing aerobars you have to take into account the position you want to achieve, I experimented with cheaper aerobars before buying this ones to check if I could hold the position for a long time while riding. For me was really useful to get a bike fit to check my position and decide on the aerobars.
Muchas Gracias :) pues es el moon and wind alarma, bastante barata en Amazon, te dejo el link www.amazon.co.uk/Wind-Moon-Electric-Adjustable-Waterproof/dp/B09J4GYP78
Hey, what a phenomenal channel, and incredible adventures.. just wondering what the drop bars are that you have? They look great and it's hard to find aero drop bars with a little flare and clamping space for TT bars 🙏🙏
Hello. Thanks for the video. Why don't you look for a solar panel on the seat back bag for your next trip, same on an other TH-cam channel ' En roue vers l' aventure '. It might be lighter than a dynamo hub. Another comment to run the algorithms. I like your channel. May I share a part of road one day with my fenix sl
Many thanks Vincent :) I consider it but not sure how to strap it to the saddle bag so it holds in place, I bought the new Garmin solar computer to see if the battery holds longer. Maybe see you on the road, safe rides 🚲
Hi would you recommend rather fitting two spare water bottles on the seat post or wearing a Uswe 2L water tank on the back.Thinking of saving my backside. Thanks
@@Buzzalong.cycling hi used twin bottle seat post clamp in The Munga 1129km and to prevent the bottles from being dislodged used elasticated 3 mm marine cable with one end noosed around the cap spout to keep the bottles in place.Worked like a charm
Always love your videos! I'm really curious on this set of aerobar from Deda. There are not many information about them online. Are you happy with them? Are they comfortable?
Many thanks, happy to hear you enjoy the videos :) the Deda aerobars is a personal preference , for me work really well and are super comfortable but because you can not adjust them much , you have to get use to and be able to hold a certain position while using them. I will advise to experiment first with cheaper aerobars that you can adjust better, thats what I did and maybe getting a bike fit and see if you feel confortable with a mantis position, thats more or less the position you get with this aerobars.
Enjoyed your video. It has helped me think more about bike packing and how to pack. The Cervelo Aspero and Caledonia are two bikes that are on my short list for my next bike. Was the group set the main reason you went with the Aspero over the Caledonia or did the geometry of the bike make the difference? Your riding (pavement but maybe a little gravel during bike packing) is how I ride and just thought I would ask what your main reasons were on choosing Aspero over Caledonia.
Many thanks for your comment :) glad you found the video helpful. I also considered the Caledonia because of the endurance geometry which I really like, but I went for the Aspero because I am planning to do more gravel events and off road riding next year so I wanted to have the possibility to mount bigger tyres. But if you are doing mostly road and light gravel I think the Caledonia is great as you can mount 34 mm tyres which is normally enought for light gravel.
Thank you for replying and your decision making thoughts on the two bikes. Looking forward to watching your future videos and all the best with your riding events/races.
Thanks :) I really like the Tailfin but i did not carried many things for this event, only 13 L and did want to use the Tailfin half empty (Tailfin 20 L), but might use it for upcoming events depending of the kit I take with me.

Go for it! bikepacking is super fun :) I was also surprised it survived the gravel 😅

Great tip! Thanks :)
I also carry a lightweight, tpu tube. Saves space and super light. 👌🏽
Greeting from GX-ID Gravel & Ultra Cycling Indonesia… thanks for sharing
Thank you too
Great video. Nicely presented. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for such wonderful video. I have a blue Cervelo Apero just like yours!
Wonderful! Love the color 🤗 safe rides
This video is sponsored by Haribo 😁 Héhéhé great one! Your enthousiasme is contagious
Thanks! 😃 😂 I think I go on long rides to have an excuse to eat Haribo 😂
Great video, again. I always learn something new. And that's a good looking bike you have there, hopefully it performed well.
Many thanks William :) it performed really well, specially on the gravel parts during the race ^^
Always a good day when a BuzzAlong video drops !
Thank you :)
Nice breakdown of your gear choices and how it all fared on such an arduous ultra-race.
Many thanks :)

Thank you Robert :) I had the same at the same at the beginning, you learn about what you need to take with every ride, a lot of experimenting ^^

Thank you for the tip, I actually had a look at them, I bought their light mount for the headtube already, they have some cool items.
Gravel gears look really nice, I can't climb my local hill without doing 330w average
yes is really helpful ^^ specially for steep climbs
Great vid! I need a set of those reserve 32s. : )
Thank you, really recommend them, great wheels and work really well with 30 mm tyres.

Thank you 🙏 with straps some to the handle bar and other 4 attached to the aerobars
Can you please make a review of the Deda jet aerobars
Thanks for the suggestion, I will do :)

Hey, great video. May I ask what bottle cage did you use in your race?
thank you, in this video I had the Tune bottle cage
Hi, nice video! Are you planing to take place in Badlands?
Thanks Roberto, working on improving my gravel skills now. I might toe the line next year or the following one.
Great video, what bottle are you using on the Downtube under the bb?
Thanks is the Elite Chrono CX :)

Hi Sherry, may I ask why you use mountain shoe/SPD instead of road shoe/SPD-SL? Many thanks.
thank you, because of the walking thread, more comfy when stopping in supermarkets and cafes and if there is any unexpected hike a bike ^^
