@@oracleocp Yes, the eye relief on the Conquest HDX 8x42 and 10x42 is 16.5 mm whereas the old HD version had 18 mm. More importantly, the eyecups on the HDX extend enough to accommodate the eye relief which was the main design flaw with the HD version. Let us know if you have any other questions!
Although the equalizer sounds good, it also has one big drawback. Those binoculars that have a field compensator look very good at first glance, but in reality the image loses its sharpness.
Seems like Zeiss made some small improvements, but not enough to make it worth paying the difference for the new HDX model. It’s a rather disappointing update.
The old HD sold for around 1000. It’s just on sale limited time and yes you can get a good deal on them right now. But if you compare old hd at 1000 vs hdx at a 1000 these are some nice updates
@@archstanton9703 I hear you. I’m personally trying to decide between waiting for hdx or going with the maven b1.2. Lots of good choices in this price range
@@melvinsacromentoe I’ve also been waiting for the Opticron Aurora 8 x 42 to go on sale as well because I’ve read some pretty good comments and reviews on these binoculars.
Would love a comparison between the Zeiss Sfl vs Zeiss HDX
It's on our to-do list :)
@@Optics4birding looking forward to it
Was waiting for a rundown on the HDX. If they're still made in Germany I might be sold.
I believe now made in China.
The Conquest HDX is made in Japan. We do still have the Conquest HD 8x42 made in Germany in stock (limited supply).
Has the eye relief changed? Thanks

@@Optics4birding if these are made in Japan, it should have better assembly than the previous German assembled HDs
Too bad the hdx eyecups are not compatible with the hd. I checked in their website. :(
These "improvements" are not enough, so I keep on watching birds with my much prettier Conquest HD 🙂
