I had one Trinovid 10x42 HD, but few days ago it dropped on the ground and now something in the fokussing system is broken, so that I can not even move the knob a millimeter! From a height of only a half meter!
Now I bought a Minox x-lite 10x42 which costs only a fourth or fifth of a Trinovid, but is almost equal and sharpness is really great, as you stated in your review!

The so called adventure strap is made of neoprene and did not work for a long time. Caused by the heavy weight of the bins it became longer and longer and finally, after a year or so, I had to replace it by the normal strap.
And I totally agree with what you said about the eye cups. There are still things to improve!

Just purchased these Friday! They're very nice! A real step up. Excellent for birding. I had desired a 8 x 42 magnification the store here in San Francisco seemed to have only the 10 x 42.

How you like them so far? Should I buy 10x42 or 8x42?

      @@Sloba1992 none. Save a few ££ & buy the Ultravids HD+
      They are better

Hello, once again a great overview of the famous Trinovid, which I entirely agree with. However, I did contact Leica UK asking about the coatings on the outer lenses. They replied as follows:
" The lenses of all Leica Trinovid binoculars feature an extremely effective, water-resistant and dirt-repellent coating. It is a similar style of hydrophobic coating in that it doesn’t allow water to pool on the lens should you be using them in the rain and it also makes cleaning them easier as fingerprints and dirt along with water can’t cling to the surface. The actual “Aqua Dura” coatings are reserved for our Ultravid HD+ and Noctivid ranges only."
So although they do not have AquaDura, they do have a coating that works similarly but maybe not as effectively.
Hope that clarifies things a little.

No hydrophobic coatings on a 1k dollar pair of binoculars is pretty disappointing. There’s a picture of these binoculars on Leica’s website with water drops on the Trinovids, but no hydrophobic coatings. Zeiss Conquest HD, Nikon Monarch HG, Vortex Razor HD, etc. have hydrophobic coatings.

I agree that the case is useless. Leica recently included the Adventure strap but now have deleted the Adventure Strap as well as increased the price of the Trinovid HD's.

The Leitz binoculars is same thing like leica binoculars? Leitz=Leica?

    • @berndgreis3214

Yes! Leitz Camera = Leica (Made in Germany)

Leitz was until 1986, Leica was originally used for cameras, Leica= Leitz Camera, but after that date was used for all the products.
