    Im glad you did this. Ive wanted a pair of good running shoes for time, and to know you rate them, having watched your runs, is Top, i have high arches, so would probably have to put orthapedic insoles in the shoe. 😇

      Thanks for the raving comment Craig! Im still relatively new to the Salomon game but these are definitely my favourite so far (and that's saying a lot considering how good the Aero Glides are). All the best with your training! 👊🏼

    Would you be able to put these shoes for a 100 mile race? On Salomons website they are not in the long distance department.
    Great content btw!😊

      Oh you seem to take these for the AoA 100 mile race. Great 😃
      My buying choice is between the standard and the slab version. You have any thought about the difference?

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much for the comment Patrik! These shoes could definitely be worn for a 100 mile race.. for 70 miles of the 268 mile spine race I used the Salomon AeroGlides (started in them) and I feel like I’m getting more comfort out of the Genesis.. some of that may be due to me sizing up half a size about my actual size though. I think I would have benefited from this lacing system in the spine too. I also like that they’re not a heavy shoe where once you get into those higher distances every gram (g) matters. Anyways I’m definitely taking them to AoA so shall report back any good/bad feedback 🙈🙈🙈
      In terms of the S/Lab.. I’m also curious about the differences. At the moment I’m not sure though as I haven’t had a chance to test them. I may be getting a pair soon though (within the next few weeks) so stay tuned for that comparison 🤭

    You mention you're doing UTS - will you be considering this shoe for that race? I'm also doing it (the 100k) so thinking about what shoe to use.

    • @ActiveIdeas

      That’s a 100% yes! Last Saturday at Rasselbock Backyard ultra I used the Genesis for 24 loops which was 100miles with no issues. I’ve also used it for the Arc of attrition (vlog is on this channel) so I have a lot of faith in this shoe now. Only thing I might be tempted to do is buy another pair as I’ve put closer to about 600 miles in these now. No signs of wear but I’m well over that 300-400 limit that everyone talks about 🤣

      @@ActiveIdeas Awesome, congrats on breaking the 100 at Rasselbock! Everyone keeps saying 'Salomons don't work on wet rock' but I've been using them for years and they've been great for me in various races. It's good to hear you've put that many miles on them too, I'd consider that thoroughly tested. For me at UTS, I'll put my La Sportivas in my drop bag just in case but cross my fingers for dry weather. Excellent channel by the way, I've only just come across it searching for Genesis reviews.

      Thanks Alex! Appreciate the kind words 🔥 Yeah I’m the same as you mate.. I’m pretty blown away by the traction that salomon rubber has! 2 weeks ago I was in south wales and both my friends slipped over (one in Nikes and the other in Altras) whereas I felt pretty sturdy in these, they only have small lugs too so in terms of them being hybrid they’re a great shoe to start a race in if you’re abit unsure on weather. Looking forward to seeing you on the start line! It’s only 100km but it’s also no joke with the elevation and cut off times 🤣 Hope training is going well 🔥

      @@ActiveIdeas I wore the Ultra guides (my favourite shoe) out in Chamonix for CCC last year which were perfect but I do know UTS is far more technical, which the Genesis promises to be which made me curious. See you on the start line! Good luck with your training too.

    Hello, what do you think about using these weighing +90kg?
    I liked a lot the stability of the wings pro3 and I wonder if the genesis will be too much soft in the forefoot .
    Thanks!

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      90kg!? That’s a heavy shoe, I’m guessing a typo?
      I couldn’t say mate as I’ve never tested the wing pro3s unfortunately. All I can say is that the Salmon Genesis are one of the most stable shoes I’ve tested. I’m loving
      How it does feel “TOO stable” as well.. I kind of got that impression from the Salomon DRX bliss which just felt abit over the top 🙈 The forefoot doesn’t feel too soft but you can subtly feel rocks come through especially if sharp. Hope this helps

      @@ActiveIdeas thank you very much. I have spent a lot of money searching for a substitute . After some mistakes, found the wings Sky. They were very similar performance. But, now the same thing. Searching for new running shoes.

      @r.g.s.8737 no worries mate! I had a similar thing when they changed the design of the Nike Wildhorse 6 in the 8’s I had to find a shoe to fill that void in my life 🤣 I’m still searching 😭 The Genesis are giving me that same excitement, that’s for sure

      Finally, I resolved my problem with Salomon shoes.
      I hace bought salomon xt wings 2 from their sneakers deparment.
      They are the same salomon wings pro 2, but they have changed the name.
      I owned the wings pro2 years ago and was good experience.
      Regards, Rubén.

    Some say these fit small. How much left from toe to front of shoe do have? If you chose your true size?

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m someone who likes a lot of room in my toe box.. usually in a size 9 I have between 1cm - 1.5cm in most brands from my longest toe. Going up half a size to 9.5 has given me a similar fit to my other shoes which I love and I would definitely recommend that for people who haven’t tried Salomon yet. Hope this helps 🌟

    Hows the outsole compoud? Is it “sticky “?

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was very impressed with the outside compound! The lug depth is only 4.5mm but due to the compound and design you’re getting great traction. Last week I ran the Arc Of Attrition (vlog is live on this channel) and I felt the most safe in these shoes. One weakness I found during this 100 mile run is that on very boggy thick “gloopy” mud I wasn’t as stable as I would have liked.. so these shoes are definitely better for those rocky mountainous routes compared to those sticky mud tracks. Full review (thoughts after the arc of attrition race) is being uploaded on these shoes in a few days. I’ve done 300 miles in them now 🙈 So stay tuned 🔥
