These seem like an awesome shoe Steven! Great review. I do wish they would include a heel tab. Love that tread pattern and design! How many miles do you anticipate these lasting?
FWIW, I have a wide foot, sometimes needing 2E in shoes. For reference, my favorite trail shoes are NB More Trail v3 in wide, Norda 001, and Asics Trabuco Max 3. The Salomon Genesis is surprisingly wide and works for me. It is definitely more snug than any of those other shoes I mentioned but I don't feel like it's too tight. Excited to take them for a run tomorrow and see how they get on with my wide foot.
I just got the Prodigio in, and am on the fence with it. I’ve tried numerous other LP styles and this one doesn’t feel much better or different like I was hoping. Thanks for testing out the Genesis as this looks like a really great option for slightly less price to the LP offering. The Prodigio is heading in the right direction, just think for my foot shape and age, I need more width and Cush for short or long efforts. So many good options right now too, and more to come this year that sometimes is hard to know what to test when your pocket book is taking the hit.
Highly suggest giving the Prodigio a try. I’m eating my words above. Initial impressions are good. Took them on a spin at Sanitas this am, worked really well.
Good review as always! I have the S/LAB version. I think I should have got a half-size smaller, for the S/LAB version is very roomy and a bit long for its size. Good shoe with good quality. I think I will bring them to La Palma for some hiking/running on the Transvulcania trail. They are more flexible than I thought they would be, so not sure how they will cope with the more technical rock-stuff.
Thank you! In the video I included a screenshot of the shoe broken apart that shows the active chassis. On these shoes it is the grey piece on the lateral side, and the black piece on the medial side.
I have the S Lab version of the Genesis, and I have to admit it’s great for long trail run. Wider toe box than the other Salomon shoes, as I do have a bit of a wider foot, hence why other Salomon don’t work. But with the S Lab version no issues…hope this helps who ever is looking for a long run trail shoe very capable of 50k up to the 100 miler. Have a great week everyone. Cheers 🤙🏽
@@RowOfMushyTiT If you have the ability to try it on at a retailer, that would be preferable. That way you could try it on and see how it feels for your foot shape, if not I do think it would work. Jeff Peltier a YourTuber has a review of the Salomon S Lab Genesis as well, give it a listen and see what his opinion is a well. Wish you the best…
Great review! How does this compare to the Ultra Glide range? I'm torn between the Genesis and Ultra Glide 2 (which I've raced in and love) for upcoming ultra races in mountains.

Cantagrip outsoles are pretty durable. I would expect at least 400 miles out of it. The midsole is probably good for 300+. Thanks, Sage!
$150 seems like a fair deal considering how well made the shoe is. Great review and feedback as always Steven!!!
Thanks, Chad!
So far my favorite trail runner of 2024.
I love them too!
Great review, sounds like a solid shoe with a little bit of everything and well under 11 ounces. Great price.
It is a nice shoe!

Fav trai shoe this year it's almost perfect . I would prefer just a slightly more aggressive lug.
Yep they are great!

The Genesis is definitely more cushioned than La Sportiva shoes. Thanks for watching!

I hope they work out well on the Transvulcania trail! Thanks!
Lol, I love the low-tech breathability test.
Hey it works! Lol
Thank you for the review. I will go fo this shoe
Good choice!
Nice review! So where is this active chassis thing?

Ahh got it..thanks

I have a narrow foot so should I avoid it?

@@RowOfMushyTiT no I think you’ll be fine. If you had a wide foot then yes I would avoid.
@@UltraTrailSteven Thanks! What about S/LAB Genesis vs regular Genesis regarding fit?
Hi there Steven… thank you for your very helpful reviews…tell me genesis or pulsar trail(regular version)? Tnx…
Hm that’s a great question… probably the Genesis as it is more breathable and won’t be as warm in hot environments
No running update this week?
Nope. Waiting till I have more info to update on. Hopefully next week.
Great review Steven! Question: I’m retiring my last Pulsar Trails (I know you love them). How are the Genesis compared with Pulsar Trail?
Thanks! The Genesis are great! Very similar to the Pulsar Trail in feel, but, but lighter and more breathable.
@@UltraTrailSteven great!!! Thank you! For the second time your reviews drive my running shoe decisions. Thanks!!!!!
What should i get for running/hiking/via ferata my foot is wide and i would like to use it in summer
These would be good on via ferrata. The width may be an issue though. La Sportiva shoes would be excellent on the rocks too

I much prefer the Genesis to the UG!
Do you think the sizes differ between UG2 and Genesis s-lab? Finding toebox a little high on UG2 whereas the Pulsar fit closer to my skinny feet
@antflynn7 I have an UG in EU 44 and a Genesis in 44 2/3 (not the slab).
