What do I say when debating a Bible thumper that earth is billions of years old and not 6,000 years old like some Bible heads believe. I mean I believe in God to but I also see in TH-cam studying astrophysics and reading on stuff like this have me to believe that the universe is billions of years old
A lot of Bible believing people are very literal with dates and times, but if you think about it from the perspective of a day to God being a thousand years to man then creation alone would be a 7’000 year process! Do I believe everything is billions of years old, no. I see our society not remembering what life was like before an iPhone yet our scientists “accurately” determine things that are hundreds of millions of years, I can’t believe that either! Haha Why do we need 40 billion years of nothing(aka evolution time) for our entire society to go from caves and grunts to ai and cloud services in 8k years!? What’s the point of 20k 500k 2million 20million years of in known space time? Sounds like an overage of wasted time for me!
So how did that creature get fossilized so perfectly when it took so long to be buried by slow sedimentation? Anything that dies underwater is sure to be eaten or degraded in a matter of days. Fossils are actually evidence of a catastrophic event that rolled this creature in a mud ball and buried it. And there are fossil beds that have thousands upon thousands of fossils clumped up together.
They're fossils, the vestiges( trace elements) of ancient animals, in this case, ammonites, cephalopodes from the Jurassic, around 180 million years ago, we study them to try undearstand how the earth was in the past, scientific purpose
