    Anything over 30% humidity will impact how well they work. In the desert with 5% humidity you will be very happy up until 105 or so. Once the temperature drops to 90 or so when the sun goes down, you can easily get air in the upper 60s coming out. I don't bother with ice, too much work until it's above 110.

    i guess you can hook a hose to it if you wish? and the hose keeps the water level up?

    Good review. I would add about a comment about relative humidity which can make a huge difference in how effective any evap cooler is. Arizona great, Florida not so much!

    So this kind you can’t open & add ice packs? You’d have to add ice pieces like a couple at a time? Does the air stay 10-15-20* for the 3-4 hrs it runs until it runs out? Some say they get warmer air bc the air doesn’t stay cold for the whole time it runs but it could’ve been a different brand I read that review on

      Hi! The water will only be as cool as the temp of the water. On a 90 degree day, ice water should last you an hour before becoming warm water. You could theoretically use a hose to refresh the water but you would need to figure out how to automate draining the hessaire as well.

    Does it have to be plugged in or can you remove the plug after it charges?

    97F and 38% humidity (dew point of 67F) really pushes the limits of what an evap cooler can use for intake air. Mine puts out decently cool air with intake air dew points in the 40s F. The the output air is utterly frigid when the intake air has a dew point in the 20s F.

    Evaporative coolers only work up until around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.After that,not so much.I live in the desert southwest US,and when it gets over 100 degrees,an evaporative cooler will get it to the mid 80's,but with 60+ percent relative humidity which is oppressive.I even "overclocked" mine meaning I ran a second water pump with a second set of water jets into the pads.So I get all I can from it.I use it for spring and fall,and use ac in the dead of summer

      Your wrong it was 107 here In Las Vegas and this brought it down to 80 with about 30 humidity. Upclose where the fan hits it feels like 70 ..it works perfect

    I have this model and the portal to add ice or water seems has a sectioned grate on it...are you using a particular ice maker that generates ice that will fit in that slot?

    • @TheFrenchGlow
      @TheFrenchGlow  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For this size, I buy a 10lb ice bag with the smaller cubes. If you were to use an ice maker most the $100-200 ones will make ice in small pellets now.

    I use my portable swamp cooler for my shop and back porch in summer. It works fine over 100 degrees. No it won't be putting out 72 degrees but mid to high 80s is still way more comfortable than 100 degrees. Not using this brand but likely one similar. The less humidity in the air the better it will perform. Not a great solution if you live in a swamp or many parts of Florida. It still will cool the air but the evaporative process that lowers the temp will not be as great. Evaporation does lower temps, take a thermometer, dip it in room temp water, pull it out and the temp will begin to go down, wave it around and there is even a bigger drop. Proven technology but will not do what an AC can do but still can make a miserable way better.

    I've had awful mold odor issue with mine after only 2 weeks of use. I live in a dry climate (average 30% summer humidity). The strong moldy smell is primarily present after I shut off the pump and run the fan to dry the media pads
    I look forward to hearing your long-term update with this product

    swamp coolers are bad for the environment and brings more humidity the the earth which causes global warming. That's the main reason why I switched to central air with high seer ratings.

      I am epa section 608 certified and I can guarantee you, 95% of modern refrigerants will cause more damage to the ozone and atmosphere than an evaporative cooler ever will. But I'm pretty sure you're just trolling anyway.
