It's sad to say, but leather football boots are going away. Puma has already transitioned the King line into a full synthetic upper, and recent announcements from Nike suggest that they'll be doing the same. But what about Adidas? Surely the heritage of the iconic Copa Mundial means that they won't be following this trend. Well, only time will tell.
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Heatspawn colorway of the Adidas Copa Pure.1, boots that in the very near future, will likely be the only modern leather football boots on offer from the big three brands! They're certainly not without their faults, but overall, I do think they're way better than what most people give them credit for. We discuss the good, the bad and why I think these are actually some of the best football boots currently on offer from Adidas! Do you think Adidas will continue to make leather football boots?

@Soccerreviewsforyou is there a reason they are not available in AG?
I have these same exact boots, and having transitioned from the puma ultra ultimate (which I loved), these feel very speed boot like while also being soooooooo soft.
I weighed these with the speedflow insole and they are 220g in the same 9.5 size (compared to 229g). So if you want to shave a tiny bit of weight that works. Makes them feel more speedboot like to me.
I really, really like these boots. As an adidas fan, I'm definitely considering getting these. They're expensive for my pocket, so I could even settle for the Copa Icon or even the Gloro

Copa Gloro is a completely different fit
i just got the copa pure + a couple days ago. They're absolutely amazing, but they were a bit loose in the midfoot. I put on a second pair of socks and it was perfect.
do you know if grip socks would have the same effect as wearing two socks?
Just feel it’ll be awesome if adidas try to capitalize the void in the leather football boots market by trying to re-release the adipure/11pro line as a separate range like they do with the copa mundial
Just got these in all black I used to have to x 18+ and these shoes give me that light weight feel with the extremely good fit and comfort and just amazing barefoot feel. Also my first leather pair tho.
How is durability? And did you go true to size or half size down? Thanks!
I think the tiempo will go to a kanga light leather hopefully being like the ctr360 it’s sad tha leather isn’t used but this is definitely the next best option for nike

I know brands are doing the whole "leather forefoot only" but I'm not entirely sold. They should do leather in the forefoot and instep similar to Diadora's Brasil Sala Turf. Regardless, I'm praying Mizuno releases another Mizuno Morelia DNA with the way brands are avoiding leather.

Joninho do you know maybe what happened to tiempo legend 9 last release that should have been launched in April? I see only take down models being released and elite version was not available anywhere

I think its a bit shiddy of the companies dropping leather to save on costs - sure synthetic might have got better over the years but you simply cannot beat leather boots

I am a US 9 on Adidas models but a 9.5 on other brands but you’re always a 9.5 on any shoe 🤔
Got a chance to try Copa Pure.1, the leather isn't as soft as K leather, there's still a gap between them. But it's a huge improvement from Copa Sense.
All it took to put some shine on these was to massively lower the bar by removing the two primary KL competitors. 😂😂😂
The .3´s are an incredible cheap alternative to this football boot, I have them and highly recommend

I picked them up from a store, I tried them on and for me I had to go a size up from my usual 46 to 47, they feel really nice and they’re great for striking the ball, but recently I’ve also picked up the Nike Phantom GX Academy and they’re also nice, snug fit & feel lighter.

I’d like to know why they’re moving towards synthetic materials over leather. A comparison would probably show their synthetic uppers are just as, if not more, environmentally harmful
Sustainability is the main concern - trying to limit the carbon foot print, while saving on manufacturing costs
Every business has the same goal: to maximize profits. No company that sells K-leather boots can sell to Calfornia, which makes up a good chunk of the market. By getting rid of k-leather boots, they can now sell high end boots (the more expensive version) to California. I also imagine that leather is a bit more expensive since it’s a natural material, so the companies can also cut costs associated with purchasing and developing leather for boots. I could be completely wrong about that, but the bottom line is to maximize profits, or to make as much money as possible. Even if the big brands don’t sell more boots, as long as costs are down, the gross margin still results in a higher profit.
Synthetics are much cheaper to produce. Also, it’s easier to create gimmick technologies for marketing purposes with synthetics.

It for sure won’t be kangaroo leather. Whether or not they change it to calfskin, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Diadora Brazil or Mizuno's & Lotto football boot's going have a boost if no Kangaroo leather. Algeria Luxury leather on boot's. You cannot beat the touch on the ball, Puma King's look like the best fake Leather at the moment 🤔

I wouldn’t call it ideal for use on artificial grass. Mainly down to the length of the studs. I won’t typically talk about viability on artificial grass if the stud pattern isn’t designed for use on that surface.

There are a couple of FG Boots with rounded Studs, which can be easily used on AG without any problems, but i just wasnt sure how to judge this half rounded half bladed thing…

Can’t justify paying a premium for calf skin. I felt the leather it’s good but just not as comfortable as the k-leather. If these were priced 180$ from the start they would be flying
Tbf you can get them around that price if you catch promo deals but I agree they should be $180-$200 retail. They are selling well though

Rubbish boots.
Had them for 2 months and I played about 5 games and both my left and right boot ripped.
Got some new phantoms and they are miles better.
