    I bought two 350's based on this review and these guys are great! Not the most powerful flash, but bang for your buck and travel size and versatility you can not beat this setup. I was able to take some great family beach photos that I would have never got in natural light. I just need to learn more about flash photography. great peace of kit overall a must for any traveler

    Digging the sample shots. Well done. This is what many photography bloggers are missing from there vlog. I could name a few that like to rattle on about gear but never show you what the gear can do. Thanks David

    THIS is the only video on youtube that explains how to connect the flash to the trigger properly. As a beginner, I bought this flash hoping to learn slave flash photography and could not for the life of me find a tutorial on youtube explaining how to pair the trigger, and I sat telling myself I wasted $100 and might as well sell it. THANK YOU!!!

      i got this flash and love it ...BUT if i had to buy all over again . i would buy flashpoint!...because they left out my honeycomb grid and gels that were suppose to come in my bundle and they wont respnd to emails or answer phone...an i heard flashpoint is the USA branded version of their company and they have GREAT customer service..go figure...idk, anyone else have bad luck or no luck contacting Godox? ...plus the 600watt flashpoint has a better screen menu and its blue..and i like blue lol

    I'm with you David. I've been using the Flashpoint version of this flash, the Zoom Mini, instead of the larger and heavier Godox speed lights, for the last several weeks. I've used it on New York Fashion week shoots and at a club shoot and despite its lower GN it's been more than adequate--and the price point can't be beat.

    thank you for this video. I'm getting the Godox flash in the mail tomorrow. this will be my first on camera flash speedlite. I bought a newer tt560 and it didn't work with my Sony a6400 and returning it.

  • @peterholman6071
    @peterholman6071 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    For those of you who are nex 7 users this flash can be used with that camera. You need to get the Sony "adp-ama" flash adapter. It adapts the nex 7 flash shoe to Sony"s universal flash shoe. This lets you use TTL, manual, and Multi. It also allows you to look through the digital viewfinder even with very low iso settings. Very pleased. Go for it guys. Make sure you specify the TT350S flash (to get the Sony compatible one).

    Having just returned to mirrorless from my 80D DSLR I am amazed at how capable this flash is when using it on my newly bought A6500. To have HSS working with such ease is a pleasure, especially without it breaking the bank financially.
    Before I went over to the Canon I had used a Sony mirrorless before and the Nissin i40, this seems more versatile and expandable.
    Great review, didn't know you could jump that high...! Lol
    Thanks for making and sharing this.
    Would like to know your thoughts on the IBIS system on the A6500 and if it had influenced you to use any older lenses without OSS.?

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Thanks. Honestly I don't like the A6500. IBIS is ok but not as good compared to Olympus. I use vintage glass and love Rokinon 12mm and 21mm Lenses. I don't need IBIS at all. However I did a gimbal for video.

    • @Vimes.
      @Vimes. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without trying to be offensive at all, really, one thing that I have slowly become to realise is that everyone has opinions and thoughts when it comes to technology. I suppose that is why I had to try out a DSLR, hence the 80D, to be better informed whether they would suit my needs or not, reading and watching can only take you so far. For me a DSLR simply did not work out, back to mirrorless.
      I am learning to be a little more selective now with what I read and also to who I sub to on YT, that is why I have subbed to your channel.
      You make great videos and talk with a good balanced objective based on practical real use, keep them coming please :)

      Thanks. Even though I don't like DSLRs I still use one a few times a week. The 5DS is my studio camera. Cameras are just tools and you need the right tool for the right job.

    Is acrobatics in your resumé? LOL! Thanks for the great review. I'm on the Fuji system myself, so I'm kinda excited to use those. It's good to know about the battery door, cause the ones on the Yongnuo's are not as reliable. Question, how's the power-on speed? Quick? Turns on every time? And I guess, without the X1 transmitter, one speedlite can be the master while the other the slave, right? Much appreciated!

  • @richardpcrowe
    @richardpcrowe 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I do like this little flash! It is quite unusual to find a flash of this form factor that has both HSS and TTL. Additionally, this little jewel can interface with any of the Godox radio Controlled flashes or triggers. You can't light the world with this little unit but, within its power considerations, it is a great little flash.

    Thanks for your video it just helped solve a problem with my new Godox TT350o which was stuck on manual zoom 14mm. The return of the wide angle thingy wasn't switching of the the wide angle zoom so I couldn't switch back to auto or manually adjust the zoom. Disappointing as I really like the Speedlite and I've had to return it. Think i'll give it another go

    Hello! First of all, i have to say that i love your videos, you are an excelent camera gear teacher. Respecting flashes I have a doubt: did you recommend Godox TT350 for dark indoor photography? I want to buy a cheap flash for starting and maybe it would be better something more simple and powerfull like de Meike 930 II LCD. Thanks for your answer.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Godox would still work fine but if you are looking for a cheap powerful alternative then look at the tt600s or tt685s.

  • @brainfreeze1925
    @brainfreeze1925 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey David...great video! A question if you don't mind. Would you recommend a couple of these for use in interior real estate photography? I almost always use natural light with a Ronikon 12mm on my A6000. A tripod and slow shutter speeds are mandatory for shooting ISO 100. This is painfully slow . . . really s l o w. Not a great way to be effective on the job. I'm thinking I need to step into flash but using it just to enhance the natural light and allow me to shoot faster. (I'm not after the super bright shots that adorn most listings.)

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes definitely. I use them to bounce off of the ceilings and walls behind me. On long exposures like 20 -30 seconds I will pull the transmitter of the camera and pop it manually 3 or 4 times.

    Definitely get 2 of these if you're going this route....because they are weak. I really wanted to like this flash but unfortunately, it just wasn't enough power for me. Also, slow recycle but I guess fast enough for a 2 AA battery type of flash.

  • @Darkmanmr47
    @Darkmanmr47 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    David, as i understand it, on sensor af points cannot cope with infrared AF-Assist, so that's why it doesn't work with any external flash, what i don't understand however is why it doesn't pre-flash the flash a bit to help with AF in low light situations at least for you to get a lock...

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The af assist beam on the body isn't infrared. It's near infrared. AF assist off camera does work on the A99 II and current SLT models which throws that theory out. Aperlite has a flash with a constant af assist grid that helps but its made for canon. I've used it a lot on Sony. Preflashing starts at 60th of a sec and af assist duration is as long as the camera needs to focus. Metz does a multi flash with theirs but it will scare the shit out of your subjects LOL.

    • @Darkmanmr47
      @Darkmanmr47 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is exactly what i said, only the on sensor af has trouble with infrared ( i have SLT's also, the a77II and will be getting the a99II). Those have no problems whatsoever with the godox system. It's the E mounts that have issues. ( my a7II). As an experiment i went with the a7II with the TT350s in a completely dark room. It wouldn't lock on anything. i then pressed the test flash button on the flash and voila, that was enough for it to lock. So that's why i said it needs to be a non infrared light. If i go into a completely dark room with any A mount body, the infrared light will throw a grid and af on a white wall without any difficulty. So, for the E mounts the Metz sounds like it's doing a good job even though it scares the shit out of subjects :) if only the godox would do this when on E mount as a backup option. We don't always use expensive e mount lenses ( that's when the on body af assist works.) I mostly use adapted A glass.

    I got the TT685 and just ordered this. They seem great. They cost less than fixing a broken shoe on a Sony HVL-f32m. I may sell my Sony flashes. HVL-f43M overheats after 30 shots. F32M does not recycle quickly. I have the Nissin i40. Seems reliable, but dislike that it is really easy to accidentally turn the dials and you can not adjust them / see them in the dark. Also it can't be stored in the camera bag in a thin slot. Do you find the Godox flashes recycle fast enough for events, how do they compare with the Nissin i40? I wish the shoe did not have those fragile 2 plastic tabs on the side. Saw a demo at Adorama where a Sony Artisan had a new Sony flash with radio control that will come out in a few weeks ($400!), and has a redesigned shoe without the tabs, just wider and all solid. Thank you for your helpful reviews!

      Sony flashes are just crap! Godox are excellent and if you like the i40 the i60 is even better.

      Lavikka Photography i40 issue I can't read in the dark the easy to rotate rear dials. that is an issue. I may just stick with godox. I can almost get 2 tt350 and 2 tt685 for the price of a nissin i60. I'm selling my overpriced Sony flashes.

    Hi. I have just bought this flash for my A6000 and it works fine, but there is a thing I don't get.
    I have the flash in TTL(sync on or off does not matter) and I have my camera set to wireless fill/slow/rear .. I press the shutter I get like 3-4 pre-flashes and half a second later it takes the photo. In case I have the camera set to wireless flash, It skips the pre-flashing and takes the photo immediately. I know what slow/rear means, but I don't get why are the pre-flashes and the delay there except in the wireless mode. Also as my camera is set to manual (same shutter/f/iso) I see no differences in the outcome.
    Also I'd like to know if it is possible to trigger this flash with the built in flash of the camera to use it off-camera.
    Thanks. Great tutorial BTW. :)

      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TTL uses preflashing to meter. You can trigger the flash to fire off camera with the body flash. Just set it to S1 and make sure the body is facing the camera and the head is facing your subject. The on camera flash doesn't use high speed sync. It stops at 160th.

    • @lg.studio
      @lg.studio 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the preflashes happen also in manual and multi mode on flash when
      camera is set to fill/slow/rear. If the camera is set to wireless, there
      are no preflalshes even in TTL mode, and the image is still nicely lit
      so it definitely measures something itself.
      And for some reason my flash is not triggered by the camera flash even when set to in Slave channel 1 :(

      Did you check to see if your camera is set in "red eye reduction"?

    • @lg.studio
      @lg.studio 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Red eye reduction either on or off, external flash is not triggered.
      And those preflashes I have mentioned before, those are the red eye reduction.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      red eye does pre flash.

    Interesting flash. A lot more compact and likely less heavy than my Youngnuo YN560-II. Maybe something which will find it's way in my camera bag one day.
    Love the levitation shots, will need to try something like that at home :-)
    FYI, picking up a second hand 50mm FE 1.8 this weekend yeay!

    Hi Davin, great video! I’d like to be able to dial in negative exposure compensation to darken the background without altering the flash output. My A6300 includes a setting that applies exp. comp. to ambient light only, however when I use it with my TT350s set to TTL, I get both a darker background and a slightly darker subject! Am I doing something wrong here?

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's compensating for the overall exposure. To get a darker background you have to defuse your light and move it closer to the subject.

    • @danube41
      @danube41 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see. I still baffles me why Sony should include an option in the menu to apply exp. comp. to "Ambient&Flash" or Ambient only". I'd have expected the camera to only apply negative compensation to ambient light if the latter option is selected.

    I am using this same flash in Sony A6400, my Exposure setting-Iso:640, Aperture:8 to 9, Shutter speed:125. My problems is my flash battery drains so fast even if i charged it up to 15 hours.

I recently bought the Godox AD200 with the Godox X1T-S 2.4G TTL Wireless Flash Trigger but I wanna buy something that's small and portable. Any Info will help thanks.

    From what I have been told is AF illumination only works with DSLR/SLT bodies cause mirrorless bodies can not "see" the AF assist light.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no reason why Sony can't enable it. The SLT cameras are still just mirrorless cameras. The af assist on the body does work on the mirrorless bodies like a6000 to the a9 but only in afs.

    • @sixyears
      @sixyears 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SLT bodies contain a Semi Translucent Mirror with separate AF system. SLT bodies work like a DSLR but instead moving the mirror it goes translucent. Most flashes use an infrared beam to assist in focusing. The phase-detection auto focus sensor can see this IR beam on SLT Bodies. Mirrorless bodies can not detect IR light because they contain a IR filter on their sensor and they do not have a separate AF system that can detect IR light. The AF assist on the e-mount bodies do not generate IR light, they produced a red beam of light from a LED in the body. I think this issue also affect Other mirrorless systems as well not just the Sony E-mounts. Most Flashes sold right now use IR light to provide AF Assist and this system was designed to work with bodies that contain a mirror and a AF system that is separate from the sensor. Sony would need to develop a new AF Assist system for it's mirrorless bodies, the current one is not comparable with the way Mirrorless systems Focus.

      Yes, but when pairing 2 of these you get the same power output or slightly better than 1 860II flash, plus if you don't use them at full power you may get faster recycle speeds ( well maybe faster than the 600/685.. i don't think it will recycle faster than the 850/860II's with the lithium battery.
