    A existência deste game nesta qualidade no Sega Mega Drive, Genesis. É só um show case. Sabemos que da pra jogar no celular hoje. Mas mesmo assim adoro ver as pessoas se desafiando provando o improvável que é sim possível portar este game com uma qualidade absurda em um console de mais de 30 anos. A música os gráficos a jogabilidade é inacreditável, incrível o que pode fazer com a tecnologia de hoje. Acho que realmente merece este game em cartuchos manual lançado pela Capcom e valorizar muito o trabalho do Mauro e os demais envolvidos. Algo estórico ao nosso imortal video game!! Parabéns mesmo...Capcom pleas be involved....

    looks amazing.
    loved the Details shown on the city background. looking way better than arcade.
    The area of statue of liberty needs some more work and polish. You did well by not putting the sun like the arcade. looks unrealistic.

      No one ever said any of that... Bare Knuckle 3 aka Streets of Rage was a 24 Megabit ROM Cartridge game.
      No one ever said Sega MegaDrive will never be able to run Final Fight either... this is confusion because the fact was that Capcom was NOT officially a third party to Sega MegaDrive in Japan or elsewhere in the world until 1993.
      People fail to understand the real reason why Nintendo had many exclusive 3d party devs was really because since the 1983 Nintendo FamiCom launch to 1986 in Japan alone, Nintendo was able to sell over ten million FamiComs in Japan alone which was an incredible feat and made news in Japanese newspapers.... those numbers also do not count North American sales which are separate.
      With the Super FamiCom in Japan launching in 1990 the industry had already seen NEC PC-Engine sell significant systems in Japan but they had also seen the powerful Sega MegaDrive struggle since 1988 where by 1990 they had not sold more than 1.5 to 2 million systems or less however there was fan demand in Japan for the Super FamiCom and when it launched, it quickly sold out to the tune of over 3.5 million systems sold in Japan alone barely months after the launch.
      From the average third party game company, their perspective is (unless they have a strong alliance with NEC or SEGA) that it's better to make games on a system that has the strongest possible install base because of the possibility of an average game to sell 500k to one million copies which back then was very profitable even though allegedly ROM Cartridges were more expensive to manufacture. That means that if a really hot arcade game appeared like how SF2 did in 1992, it could sell an easy 3.5 million ROM Cartridges which are mostly the harder core gamers in Japan.
      So do not confuse what some fanboys tried to claim... Capcom could not make games for Sega MegaDrive because from their perspective the games would lose money being made on a system with less than 2 million systems sold over two years. SEGA could afford to make games and purchase licenses from other companies like Capcom so that Sega employee and contract dev teams could handle conversions for MegaDrive.
      After Capcom officially became a third party in 1993, it was possible for Capcom to make Final Fight 1 for MegaDrive however by 1993 it would have been pointless because SEGA had made their Bare Knuckle series and that is why Sega Enterprises LTD Japan purchased the license rights to convert arcade Final Fight for the Sega MegaCD which would serve to get hardcore gamers into buying MegaCD in 1994... but again note that Capcom only has so many employees and so did SEGA... they did not have enough people to make all the games they wanted to be big system sellers and the other problem was how the games were selling or not selling... especially in North America where Sega of America's 90s management staff would reject certain games and promote their garbage games.

    Opa! Mesmo sabendo que na versão original a iluminação do poste que aparece na frente do cenário era verde (aos 56 no MD), esta adaptação que vocês fizeram para azul/amarelo/branco ficou simplesmente perfeita!! Parabéns!!

    I think this is great stuff, and shows how much a Mega Drive was capable. I thank you so much for showing such a wonderful project.
    I wonder, if this project continues to completion, would you include behavior more akin to the arcade version that include, but not limited to:
    1. Faster player attacks.
    2. Enemy characters J/Two P being able to move in quickly to attack your back?
    3. Tricks like Alchemy

      The player isn't attacking as fast because I don't like using turbo. But I'll implement everything I can to make it a good port, including better enemy AI approaching arcade fidelity.

    Wow. Hit detection, color palette and punch speed is better than the Sega CD version; brining it closer to the arcade game. This port also blows any SNES version of this game (official or fan upgrade) out of the water. If only this effort was put into porting this game on the MD back then; how things would have turned out different.

    Looks awesome as always. I love the little details of the city lights in the background (colour cycling?). I do hope it's possible to add a bit of animation or movement to the water. That's the only thing I see which could maybe use improvement. The rest is perfection. Amazing work! 👍

    Incredible work. Love the additional animation in the background and parallax in the foreground. The lamp posts, undamaged in a derelict city I always thought they should be vandalised like everything else. Any chance throwing an enemy could break them and leave a sparking mess behind?

      The SNES port was rushed, though. It does not represent the best the SNES can do. If you compared the development time of both ports, that'd paint a different picture.

    I’ve never been a huge fan of Final Fight, or it’s music, or any of its ports…the graphics and characters are cool enough, but I always felt the gameplay was a didn’t jive with me like SOR et al. but this is so impressive that I absolutely have to play it. Looks insanely cool.

    Ça promet du lourd. On se rapproche bientôt du jeu fini. Quel travail fantastique. Ce n'est plus du homebrew, à ce stade c'est l'un des plus beau beat them all de la megadrive. Si j'avais un studio de développement professionnel pour faire des portages de jeux rétro je vous embaucherai tout de suite. Un travail de maître aussi bon que sega, M2 et capcom. Bon courage pour finir ce jeu. Vous y êtes presque. 🎉🎉🎉

    That Mega drive FM chip translates the soundtrack so well. It sounds like the FM chip of capcom boards but less ear piercing.

    Esse jogo tá ficando ,maravilhoso no megadrive e uma das coisas que eu mais curtí até agora são as músicas. Esse console tem vários timbres parecidos com os do arcade. Té lindo demais isso. Tem um bom número de personagens na tela ao mesmo tempo e... dá pra jogar com duas pessoas, diferente da versão de Snes. Só tem uma coisa e que talvez seja super easy de vocês revolverem(não que seja um problema). Eu acho que o El Gado e o Hollywood estão demorando mais que o normal deles pra se levantarem do chão depois de uma queda. No fliperama pra mim era um desafio lidar com eles justamente por conta desse timming mais rápido pra se recuperarem. Espero não ter dito nenhuma bobagem aqui e continuo seguindo o trabalho muito feliz com esse resultado que vêm sido mostrado(As luzes nesse cenário estão um espetaculo, principalmente porque um desses efeitos parece simular a movimentação de carros, melhor do que o efeito de iluminação mostrado no arcade). Parabéns a todos os envolvidos nessa obra prima.

      I noticed that too...they got up much quicker in other ports of the game.
      También me di cuenta de eso... aparecieron mucho más rápido en otros puertos del juego.
      Notei isso também...eles subiram muito mais rápido em outras portas do jogo.

    Curti a animação do poste e da cidade ao fundo, a sombra do poste e a camada frontal que não existe no original. Faltou só o som do doguinho latindo kkk. Senti muitas diferenças no comportamento do abigail, mas tá top demais.

    THIS could easily pass as a genuine arcade game. I would be great if people could do back and do some more Capcom classics for the system. Maybe even a rework of Strider (get rid of the spite flicker and slowdown etc). All credit for bringing this to the Megadrive and like THIS! It's brilliant.

    There's something magical about seeing a near-perfect version of Final Fight running on the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive. Sega could have pushed this little beast another two or three years, skipped the 32x and Saturn drama by investing in a large format from Catriges, and then jumped in with the Dreamcast.* sigh* # RoadNotTaken I'm tremendously excited to see the Final version. Wonderful work! Bravo!

However, if they ONLY produce 12 MB ROM cartridges, with no variance, there's a strong possibility of getting a price break on manufacturing and pricing Genesis games competitively with the Nintendo 64. It's just a fun hypothetical.

Had everyone had attitudes like yours, then we would still be having things like the Magnavox Odyssey instead of lifelike graphics on the newest video game consoles, as well as on places like Steam, GOG, tablets, and smartphones. The way that technology gets cheaper is when someone decides that it is worth the cost to go after new technology, they successfully prove their case with their argument with a good video game, and then everyone wants that proverbial piece of the pie. This is how things work in the real world.

    Awesome work! As an OpenBOR dev here, if you can adjust a little bit of the position of Guy's last frame when attacking with the sword and pipe a little forward, it might look better, because currently looks like he is sliding back a little bit when attacking. Other than that, I am so impressed with this port, it's amazing.

      Sim, estou pensando em mudar para tiles para o pobrezinho não ficar desaparecendo, mas optei por sprite no momento por causa das cores. Mas no geral não vai dar tanta economia de sprites.

    I would initially like to thank you for the work you are putting into the development of this gem of a video game for the Mega Drive.
    I noticed that in the final part of stage 5 in the arcade game the sunrise is bigger in the surroundings of the Statue of Liberty. Also, the sunrise is also more elongated, reaching almost to the city. Would there be any possibility to adjust this to make it look a bit more like the arcade game? I ask this as I know that the Mega Drive's vram may be at its limit and it may not be possible to make this adjustment.

    First, the good things. Amazing port and super happy to see this come to fruitition. Can't wait to play it.
    The bad thing is not the game itself, but the butthurt sega fanboys. Context is very important, and I know we we'll see lots of trolls coming to say "how genesis totally could outdo the Snes".
    But truth is: this port has no cartridge size limit, hence more content can be in the game. There's lots of enemies on screen, but not without compromising: flickering and slowdowns are happening here. If compromising is on the table, surely a port with more enemies on screen can be made on snes too. Doesn't matter how much space this port can have, Genesis simply can't do the color palete that Snes can do, hence the watered down colors here. And last, port is being made in 2024, where tools and knowledge to circunvate issues run galore on the internet. It's not the same as programming back in the 90's, with limited information and knownledge. Let's not forget Final Fight on Snes had problems with calendar, it's the first wave of Snes games, which means programmers had no clue how to extract anything more from the console apart the basics, etc.

      Sounds like you're the butthurt fanboy! lol. The Mega Drive is two years older than the SNES, that's a long time in the video game industry, even more so back then, comparing the consoles is fine, they're the same generation, but you always have to take that two years into consideration, at the end of the day they both have strengths and weaknesses. Why does anyone even care?

      I agree with you, but as I'm not fanboy, I see benefits on booth consoles. For example, SNES has great colors that Mega Drive will never touch, but Mega Drive has a higher resolution, and for my personal taste, in the case of a CPS1 game, the YM2612 sounds better than the SPC. About the size and tools, I agree, but this version is targeted to reach 32 mbits, which was a normal size for the 90s for expensive games.

      You forget one important thing, the SNES has a much slower process than the megadrive (for whatever reason) that's what affected a lot of SNES games it just couldn't move as many sprites around without the SNES slowing down. Hence why on SNES beat em ups you see only like 2-3 enemies on screen at a time even in Final fight 3 which was at the end of the SNES life cycle this was still an issue

      Hola, felicidades por tu trabajo es en verdad fuera de serie!
      Veo que lo has optimizado y no hay ralentizaciones en momentos de múltiples enemigos.
      Sin embargo te pregunto algo, podrás hacer algo para evitar el "flickerin"?
      No soy programador pero se me ocurren dos ideas.😊
      La primera es que se active una física especial para que cuando los enemigos caigan al piso no se queden alineados sino que si en esa coordenada ya hay un cuerpo tendido, al momento de caer un segundo o un tercer cuerpo estos "salten" a otro lado cercano pero no en la misma línea y así evitar colapsar el máximo de sprites por línea.
      La segunda idea es optimizar los sprites de los enemigos en sus piernas y no articularlas con varios sprites para así no aumentar el número de sprites, es decir usar un Sprite de 16x16 para dibujar ambas piernas del enemigo y alternar dicho sprite con otro para simular el movimiento de caminar.
      Así podrías optimizar sprites.
      Es una sugerencia.

      Player must respawn down left, regardless of where has been killed. Yours respawn in the same point.
      Extra lives for 200k is actually first 100k and then every 200k (300, 500, 700, 900, and the last is 1,1M).
