I agree with everything you said in this video. I was 6 years old and had the biggest crush on Cassiopeia. It's how I know I'm straight.
The memories of visiting my aunt's house in Knoxville. I have lived a great life, and Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica helped make that possible.

For some odd reason, I never was into Star Wars.... but, yes, the TV series Battlestar Galactica was one of my favorite shows, entering my early teens in the late 1970s. I waited anxiously for each new episode, seeing the two main characters coming down from their mother ship to do things on earth, them being chased by bad guys or the police, and their vehicles would just take off, from freeway chases, into the air... with technologies humans couldn't comprehend. I think that's when my fascination with technologies, the future, time travels, etc. started; that's why I went on to read over 1,000 hard core science fiction books but never touching any comics or Star Wars materials.... For some odd reason, I don't remember the character played by this actress, Laurette Spang....

@@fw1421 G1980 was doomed from the very beginning. Except for the pilot and The Return of Starbuck, the episodes lacked the action, drama, suspense and character interplay of the original, and while series stars Kent McCord and Barry Van Dyke are fine actors, they didn't have Hatch and Benedict 's chemistry and dramatic punch.

1978 Battlestar Galactica, the only Galactica, as far as I'm concerned, was truly a great show with a great cast, including Laurette. Too bad network execs were such boneheads and ruined things, never allowing the show to blossom, but instead, die a shameful death in Galactica 1980. I've been meaning to watch this video for the last few days, but i kept getting distracted-anyway, Yes Laurette was a major babe back in the 80's. I was never a big Galactica fan, [of any incarnation] but i watched it because of Laurette and Maren Jensen. On Joss Whedon's series 'Firefly', Morena Baccarin's character Inara was also a 'socialator' . Inara later on became a more important character and her career changed and this was done in honor of Cassiopeia from BG. You always bring me such memories of the classic and great days of TV and always bring a smile to my face. Thanks, Dave.

"Last Man Standing" was actually canceled after 6 seasons on ABC even though it had solid ratings. There was something of a scandal that it had been canceled by politically liberal TV execs who didn't like the show's conservative themes. After a year off, it was picked up on FOX but by then several actors had moved on to different work, including Molly Ephraim who played Mandy. She was replaced by Molly McCook and the character was changed significantly. They even made jokes in the new season, commenting that they didn't recognize her bcuz she was tall and blonde. Ephraim wasn't as tall and was brunette.

Battlestar Galactica was a big hit when it hit the TV screen, one of my favorites, although unlike you Dave I didn't find it equal to Star Wars. But I don't remember Cassiopia as being a high class call girl? That's pretty bold for the 70's. I do remember a secret triangle affair between her and Athena over the effections to Starbuck in one episode. If I remember right, when the girls found out that he was seeing both of them, being good friends, they quickly dumped him at the end of the episode. Ahhh...Starbuck. What a womanizer.
Lauretta seems like a very nice person and I'm glad she got out of acting and had a successful marriage to John McCook. Show biz to me is a trap, for certain reasons I won't go into.

Re-watched Season 1of "Battle Star Galactica" recently on Tubi was great. First time I have watched it since I was a kid. Tried watching season 2 but could not make it through the first episode, what were they thinking? Laurette was very lovely, thinking of her character and Lloyd Bridges character( Commander Kane ) romantically involved is a disturbing thought though.

I think they just ran out of money for the series, because most television executives often don't like or understand science fiction, and they decided not to finance another series. In the UK Micheal Grade, the nephew of Lew Grade who commissioned Gerry Anderson's work, ironically cancelled Doctor Who because he didn't get the genre.

I've watched Galactica 1980 all the way through twice now. And it just kind of falls flat. The big mistake was changing the time travel aspect, as that was quite an interesting and suspenseful plot. So I would say the first 3 episodes of Galactica 1980 were the best of it. After that it just got corny as heck. lol Well at least they showed Starbuck at the end of the 1980 series. That was actually pretty cool. But yeah Batllestar Galactica was a freaking awesome show and way ahead of it's time no doubt! Such a great cast and awesome storyline overall!
