I just wanted to explain a few things I might have missed. You have limited space for traps (otherwise they would be super overpowered if you could make a billion T1s) Therefore you should delete layers you don't use that are stuck in the 400s Also my recommendation of using Abatis (spelled like the game) is merely a meta strategy. It may be better to focus exclusively on Rock or Arrow. This is all new information. Lastly. if you are ghosting and you want your traps/archer tower to get a few more kills. you can heal 1 of every troop. This will make the battle last a little longer and allow your tower and traps to gain more kills. Part 2 will be about T1s! and how to counter them. You wont want to miss it! As always, feel free to ask questions! Thank you for your support.
I have a hard time reading tables people made for mechanics stuff. I like that your table has that output where it reports the calculation result in text. It's great you explain all these too. Next time I will pay more attention to the building traps quests.....Thanks for sharing!
Great video. Questions. 1. If you do not know what traps to build. Build out over 1k at each level and see which one gets used the most? After getting a good sample size, build out the trap layer that kill the most? 2. Should the person build out layers and retest when they hit milestones....10b, 20b, 30b. Test at every 10b or some other interval? 3. Smaller players that ghost all high end troops - should they help traps by using a wall combo like Ly Kiet/Tran. with both you get a trap trigger rate of 80% when specialty two of Tran is done. or should a debuff combo be better. Given there are no high-end troops a conventional in-city wall combo is wasted.
In response to your plan to figure out which trap to build.... I think your plan may be flawed. For example, If you're hit with ground, the vast majority of the triggered traps will be the ones that target ground, since they are the numerically largest target. Your test will just show you results based on what your opponents used to hit you with during your sample period.... Beyond that and more importantly, if attacked again for example by ground, and you built massive ground killing traps, then you'll get a lot of ground kills. Fine, if you're ghosted. However if you have masses of troops defending, the number killed by traps will be small in comparison to troop v troop kills. Better that the limited number of trap kills be targeted to take out a specific troop type that is not the main troop type. If the traps (and archer tower) take out all of a supporting troop's layers, then the enemy march is weakened by much more than the loss of those numbers of troops. They've lost the benefit of covering troops provided by proper layering and the march will succumb to your defending forces more easily.... Hopefully. Please let me know if I understand this correctly. Also, if archer tower attacks mounted first, then it would make sense to build the trap that also targets mounted. Take them out in the first round or two and layered benefit is gone.
Yes, its very simple. The two things you can do are ensure you always have the knights hall, or two dont play BoC. 😜But being serious, High tier traps are a heavy investment. I dont recommend it unless you have a ton of rss for your disposal or you are participating in Allstars, Chalons, or SvS
Thanks Derrick. I need to watch this again and take notes, but I get the basics. One thing I’m not sure about is layers. You never really explained why layers are bad. As I’ve grown, I’ve accumulated traps of every level, but I only replace the highest level ones I can build, so the lower levels are all too small in number to activate, but they’re still there. Does that mean there will be turns where no traps activate? Should I dismiss everything below Level 7?
Sorry for the late reply. Layers of traps are not techincally "bad" tbh, its mostly a clickbait title. The reason why I said they are bad is because you have a limited amount of traps that you can hold. Also any traps below a certain amount wont activate and therefore are useless. You should not dismiss any traps, unless you are full on traps. Building traps are still expensive on resources, so if you are not competing for allstars or Chalons, I recommend for now, building T1 traps and T6 traps for the gathering event focusing on traps that you have the most spare rss for.
Before this video i figured out that t1 troops alone is not enough. The archer tower/Ban Chao and Traps/Ly Kiet/Russian subs are two things needed to accompany t1 troops. This video just validate my thought process. those that said getting Ly Kiet from the tavern is a waste of gold can kiss my 😮. Finally...the blacked video art in the video..😅😂😂😂. My 70,000,000 archer attack is only equivalent to 1000 T15 archers with 1500% attack buff (though with range longer than a T15 siege) However, the point is to kill off those protective layers the enemy has. Every time your 3m million T12 archers attack a 1000 troop layer vs a the 2,000,000 main troops layer is a wasted turn.
@@DerrickDefies my thinking exactly. Traps/archer tower and sub troops take out some enemy counter troops. Debuff weaken rest that your in city troops go after. Layer defense like an attack march.

I personally recommend maxing out on a specific one. You can decide based on what you get attacked the least with or what you have the most disposable rss in. At K35, I would suggest only building T1 (for efficiency) and T6 for the Gathering event. Building High level traps should be reserved for Allstars/Chalons as they are pricey in resources
Will it be effective to train the fire arrow instead? My thought process being if the trap take out the attacking siege layers before my own siege have to fight them, my siege can instead target the other troop types
Absolutely! I am merely giving an example of a troop type to focus on. If most of your defensive strength is in siege, then you want those siege layers to die as quickly as possible so your siege can focus on enemy range. In a battle, Your top tier siege will target enemy siege but your mid/low tier siege wont because they don't have the range to reach them. This will leave the arrows killing off the enemies mid tier/ low tier siege. So yes its absolutely viable. This video is the first time trap mechanics have been released and by no means does anyone (including me) have the best strategy for them.
@@DerrickDefies another question, would it be wise to forego the buffs given by sub city attack in monarch talent in order to make way for about 60% trap triggering chance

It completely depends on your defensive units, If you are making a defense that focuses heavily on range with very little in siege, than Ly Thoung Kiet is great. As far as using him for trap activation, his 60% along with a 20% from the other wall general will give you a 2.8% activation rate which will lead to your traps capable of taking out layers quite consistently. I can't say whether or not its a viable strategy. however, for a small player, I suppose you could put a level 10 dragon on Kiet and ghost just to have your traps give you free points in SvS 🤔 But, my recommendation is to not base your general on traps. Use the mechanics and come up with your own strategies.
I assume one of two things. 1. You have a tiny cav wall. 2. Your refines aren’t right. Make sure you have 8 HP flats for cav and 8 for attack. T1 wall should eat those ground for a snack
Yes, this happens when strong traps are killing low tier troops. If your single T8 trap is strong enough to kill 300 t1s, then you will only lose 1 Trap. The traps loss will not exceed the number of troops killed, but it can be less.

@@salam_gamerreal the point of traps is not to kill large sums of troops. They are to kill small enemy layers so that your defensive troops can attack the main forces.
