- This video describes how to fix the issue of your steering wheel seemingly being disconnected from the wheels. This can be caused by a stripped steering gear box. Also, a steering box can bound up or fully lock up. The video shows:

I am blessed to have a B7200E from 1985. Because I have a Front End Loader on it I've had to replace the steering shaft a couple of times. Just last week I ruined the lower bearing (not enough shims) and just took it to the dealer b/c I had other fires to put out. $550 bucks later I find this video. I was always trying to line the steering shaft up on the tractor instead of taking the steering box off and the pinion shaft out. That is probably the ticket for keeping from crushing that lower bearing. I really appreciate you taking the time to set up this video on a 37 year old compact tractor.

Using the jaw from my puller worked great to finish the job. Rather than grind down my puller, I started with a 3” long 1/4” carriage bolt. The round top of the bolt allowed me to free the race just enough to get the jaw from the puller in there.

When I was taking mine apart and got to the bottom outer bearing race removal, we measured the inside diameter of the top outer race with some calipers and it was 0.905" so we took a piece of scrap steel and put it in the lathe and turned it down to the exact same diameter of the outer race, 0.905", and it fit perfectly in the center of the bottom outer bearing race. Then we took some axel grease and filled the space under the race, put the shaft in and hit it with a hammer, took the shaft out and repeat the grease in the hole, put the shaft back in and the second hit it popped right out. It was like a hydraulic cylinder. Works great and you don't have to ruin tools.
The puller I had to grind cost like 9 bucks. However, if someone has access to a lathe your way is certainly a lot better! I don't have a lathe (yet).

I appreciate the video because I'm facing a steering box rebuild on a B7100 right now. But, as a retired tech trainer and tech writer I see too many references to "this thing here". Please look up the names of the parts, Pitman Arm, for example.I

Great video! Impeccable timing too. My L2000dt steering box has been leaking and freezing up lately due to water ingress. Found it funny to see your recycle nb jacket, I live in Bayswater, NB. What oil did you put in the gearbox when done?
I used 80w90 gear oil. Regular stuff... not synthetic. Let us know how you make out.

Good video MRDIYGUY123 i have a manual steering on tractor 6807deutz wich i too hard and am wondering if i can add a hydraulic line in housing from the pump lifter just to ease it little bit plz light us if u got informations greetings from algeria

I have a question, I put a new steering box on my B7100 HST NON power steering. How much play should there be? I dont want it to be too loose or tight. Thanks for any help.
Absolutely don't want to be too tight. As long as there's some very small detectable play that should be sufficient.
@@mrdiyguy123 When I adjust it all the way tight I still have almost a quarter turn of play before engagement in the Box not on the tires and Steering system. Adjust it all the way out it has a quarter turn of play. Not much difference, this is a Kumar brothers product

Is this a B 7200HST model? Is there a difference in the parts needed for the HST? Mine is an HST not power steering and the kit is $75 more than the non HST! What’s the difference if not power steering?
yes i had a B7200 HSTD. i dont know the difference between steering box for hydraulic vs non hydraulic tractors but would expect non hydraulic assisted steering tractors to have a mucj heavier steering gear box.
