We wonder at times why when the name SECRETARIAT is mentioned tears form in our eyes. Is it perhaps that we (who were fortunate enough to be around to witness not only the incredible & tremendous speed he possessed but also his BIG affectionate personality both off & on the race track, his intelligence along with his beauty & poise) wonder if there will ever again come into the lives of the American people a presence of this magnitude in the shape of a horse. He gave us all a sense of awe & pride @ a time in this country's life when it needed it so badly! And for that, I can only say: "THANK-YOU!" (Were that you could be around in our lives today!)

I was 15 when Secretariat won the Triple Crown. I watched the Kentucky Derby each year since 1970. In 1973 I followed him through the Triple Crown and am so happy to relive the memories.
Love this horse still. My eyes tear and my heart gets full when I see him. There is no other like him and there never will be no matter what. I hope people will still love him a hundred years from now. Love you Secretariat the legend. ❤ 🐎
@@jm1657 The whole farm is just beyond gorgeous! The cemetery was amazing.. .Riva Ridge is very close to Secretariat's grave I put a penny on both their headstones and took many pictures. I was glad I didn't get to emotional we were in groups of 10. I did my crying before and after 😉 .

I was showing hunters and jumpers at this time and always had fun fantasizing about what he would be like over fences with my riding buddies. Of course, running was his purpose. Thank you for the best Secretariat tribute I have seen. I am grateful for the time and effort you put into remembering this legend.

Mrs. Penny consulted on the movie. The problem was cramming a life story of Secretariat, trainer, jokey, handler, many races, etc into a 2 hr movie. I wish Disney would've made the movie into 3 series.

Eddie Sweat loved that horse. He was a terrific groomer. He's with him today taking care of secretariat.

He was Virginia horse--born and owned by Meadow Farm, Doswell, VA. Later syndicated by Claiborne Farm in Kentucky and where he spent his final years.
