I've been staying at Meghalaya since 2017 & as a Geologist I do get an opportunity to visit various parts of Meghalaya. I've little idea of the foods and their names Fodka. There may be mistakes in the spelling of the food items as normally there is as such no practice of Menu in the local food stalls.
Dokha- Fish; Dosier- Chicken, Dosninag : Pork, Domsi: Beef, Pelleng : Egg.
Jali : White normal Rice ; Jadoh: Yellow rice ( What Foodka was eating ), Dai- Dal, Jhur : Fried Vegetables, Chadudh: Milk Tea; SahCha: Red Tea. Um-Water.
আর পিঠের নাম দুটোই জানা, Pokhlein: গুড় পিঠের মতো অনেকটা, Puthero: গ্রামাঞ্চলে যাকে আস্কা পিঠে বলা হয়,
এ ছাড়া বাকি গুলো Rice কেক বলেও চালানো যায় |
এই পিঠে আর Snacks যেটাকে বলা হচ্ছে সেই Genre পুরোটাকে একসাথে বলা হয় : Jimbam ( Bam মানে have food/have). This Genre also include Rooti/Ruti: Called " Ata" ( Usually baked in little oil), Chana: Gugni / Chola or Chole cooked with sesame.
That was Tumtap: Dry Firsh with King Chilly ( Raja Mirch). Another Chatni is Turumbai : Akhuni ( Farmented Soabin )
Usually these Jimbam people have with tea. Jimbam never takes with Tumtap.
Jimbam usually are without sugar or with little sugar as it balance the taste with the Tea. Milk tea is added milk on top of Red tea. Normally Red tea is quite popular.
Normally it's a practice of people to have tea with food,, even with rice, along or after.
Meghalaya is a beautiful place for Tourism but For Survival it's tough.

As a non-muslim(eat pork) Bangladeshi, who traveled around SE Asia. My visit to Meghalaya and introduction to their cuisine was a surprise. I thought it had similarities with Indonesian cuisine. I loved it so much, I had Jadoh everyday and sometimes multiple times a day. Still crave is sometimes and hope somebody would open a restaurant near me.

Shillong er manush beshi misti pochondo kore na tai pite gulo less sweet and usually are eaten with red tea or a savory dish like dohjem( chicken/pork/beef). Dohjem is meat organs ( liver, heart, intestines etc) cleaned and cooked together. More of an acquired taste I tell u.. my personal favorite is the chicken version of the Khasi dishes.. anyways hats off to u for actually having the guts to try the food even after having very little knowledge as to what exactly they were..❤

Do visit legacy the cake shop one of the best shop for cookies and cakes located at shillong police bazar .
Can you guys do a show covering on Benaras or Hardiwar? Or even Lucknow? You may have already covered these areas in India, may be I have not seen it in your channel. Keep up with the great job. When I watch a food show, I learn whole lot about not only the food, but also about the local culture's uniqueness.
