I’m autistic and can confirm that I am not a vegetable. If I were a vegetable I would be a carrot.
The only way to end the culture wars is for Labour to drastically improve the material conditions of living for large proportions of Uk society. They must drastically reduce inequality in UK society.
I have an autism diagnosis as well, I think I agree that I would be a carrot too, especially a nice crunchy raw one.
I'm ADHD and I'd like to be a beetroot
Exactly. Can't blame the country's major problems on an outgroup if the problems aren't there anymore.
I like carrots.
Rob Schneider is a carrot
Why is it that the least cultured of us are the ones who engage in culture wars the most?
Fear and ignorance.
@@Ricimer671 sure, although I think that the bias is towards ignorance.
I guess it makes sense, people fight and fear what they don't know or have. Have no culture? Great, let's fight culture wars
Yeah the left have got a lot to answer for.
They’re the ones most threatened by it
It isn't a diversion tactic. These people are seriously nasty. The culture war stuff is them with the mask off.
Those doing the distracting are those driving it from the top and behind the scenes with huge amounts of money. Their goal is personal enrichment and power.
The vile people are those supporting.
Probably a bit of both, mate
@@icedreamer9629 100%
Back in the 90s and 2000s no one had a problem but the left has now stoked up the diversion when it wasn't even there.
It can be, of people are afraid and angry at the immigrants, the LGBTQ folk and others they aren't usually looking at the growing wealth inequality, the corruption in politics and the rich using it to get richer at the expense of everyone else.
The ridiculous 'war on woke' causes real harm. I am a married woman with children and grandchildren. Apparently I'm trans because my jaw isn't feminine enougn. The person who asserted this has never even met me but 'the camera doesn't lie'. It's madness and my experience is nowhere near as awful as other people have to endure daily. When I was informed about this, the person who witnessed the assertion thought it was a hoot. I didn't because it crossed my mind that the delusional 'trans spotter' could well be policing women who want to use a public toilet.
Then: trainspotting.🥳
Now: trans-spotting.☹️
This is ultimately the outcome of it. Hateful people use this as a way to attack anyone they feel isn’t fitting their ideal of gender roles. As a trans person myself it’s been baffling to watch the “we can always tell” crowd repeatedly get it wrong and attack others. I suppose they actually can’t always tell…
It’s almost like all of our bodies are different and the way all of us want to express ourselves may vary, too.
They only attack because they lack intelligence.

It's not diversity we should be afraid of its Division !

Diversity brings division, look at political diversity, the far left and right cant come together and work together, they both hate each other. look at culture diversity, there are cultures out there that oppress women and LGBT community. if you want less division you want less diversity as you want more people people on the same page. People with same views same cultures are less divided and will happily get along.

A woman aware of her surroundings - not locally, but transatlantic. Steve Bannon, populism coach to Euro authoritarians and then in 2015, Trump, deserves credit for stuffing cultural wedge issues and slogans such as the Göebbelsy "mainstream media" into the echo chamber. That chamber is a lending library to xenophobes and nationalists, be they upstart politicians or the disenfranchised who vote for them. Not an original thought in the mix, but then supporters don't look beyond their own shores to spot the duplication.
Fantastic comment
I tried pointing out the influence of Mr Bannon to my friend's but they voted Reform anyway. Life long Labour voters, voted for an ex-Tory Party Chairman 😅
@@notyourordinarygranIt is just mindblowing how easily many people are bamboozled and then convinced to vote against their own interest.
It's what happens when you have a political and economic ideology that fails in everything it claims to do and instead of introspection the blame game starts.
It even crept into the SNP with Joanne Cherry and she done exactly what you said when she lost her seat. Spot on.
This is the biggest problem conservatism is facing globally - it's really easy for people to see that it never does what it claims to. It never results in a smaller state, lower taxes, or greater individual wealth. It's simply the ideology of a ruling class, perpetuated by nothing more than their desire to rule.
I was walking through central London the other weekend during Pride - didn't get involved properly but really got a feel of the atmosphere. It's hard to understand why anyone would have a problem with it. Such a great vibe. Anyone who agrees with Braverman's vitriol simply needs to spend time with people within the LGBTQ community or at an event to realise the celebration of it. There is nothing to be threatened by.
No one has a problem with it but it's the same with everything else, if something is overexposed it gets tiresome for the people who are not involved in it. Think coloured police cars, road crossings, council erected flags everywhere etc etc, there's no need for it.
@@user-yb9ww6lv7j Sounds like you do have a problem with it. Why do those things bother you so much? There is a point about hollow platitudes coming from governments and corporations. But that is a separate argument and not the one Braverman and her ilk are making.
@@1porter The community can do what they like, I have no problem with that, It's when companies, establishments, governments are joining in with it when they don't do it for 100s of other issues. Braverman isn't against this, she is against the extremists of the group, who we know have taken it too far and is now following an ideology.
James imposing radio silence so he can use an app to identify a bird might be the greatest bit he's ever done.
Very wholesome.
Danny Kruger, Freddie's more evil brother!
Or Prue Leith’s half baked son……
It's attitudes like Danny Kruger that have meant that Britain, once the top of ILGA ratings in Europe back in 2015, has now slumped to 15th place in recent years. ILGA is an organisation that monitors LGBTQ+ rights in countries across the world, based on a country's abilities to protect civil liberties, police hate speech and crime, and recognise autonomy for marginalised groups. This latest iteration of the Conservatives have created a hostile environment towards LGBTQ+ folk, with particular nastiness reserved for the trans and gender divergent communities, and it's cost us our once proud position as a leader in civil rights. We are now behind most of Western and Northern Europe, and what's letting us down this culture war where politicians purposefully misgender trans folk, don't challenge hate crime, and don't overturn cruel legislation that only hurts the most vulnerable in society.

A person like this will never be satisfied, if you bend over backwards to accommodate you'll be bending the wrong way to them.

It is the "look a squirrel" tactic and sadly it works too often and people easily get bamboozled.
Distraction, distraction
As for the guy who called autistic people vegetables, that´s my opinion of Reform voters. Compare what the average Reform voter can do with Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton or Ludwig Van Beethoven, all people who would be considered on the spectrum today.
Well, the first two were experts in their field so would have posed a threat to modern populist dogma. As for Batey, I think you'd find that Ed Sheeran sells more records and is therefore definitively better.
@@Maltloaflegrande I had never heard Sheeran was autistic, checked on Google just now, he´s said to have a lot of the traits but nothing confirmed.

Can somebody please explain why being woke is a bad thing? Or should we all hate and be more be devisive.
To me it’s another word for Progressive. The right wing press have dragged the word through the mud.
I certainly can't explain why "woke" is bad, but as someone who has been described as woke for reasons including, but not limited to; driving an EV, having solar panels installed, not liking golf, reading a Richard Osman book, and ordering a vegetarian option at a business lunch; I've had loads of fun asking people who use the word "woke" exactly what they mean by it. Like James says in the video, they simply can't explain, but they do get upset if you keep pushing for an answer! 😂
Personally I'd say it's used to describe anything they're afraid of, with change being the main one.
@@garysmith5025 my guess is a room full of woke people would get on, have fun, and in the majority enjoy life, and whatever the opposite of woke is people would argue how best to bully as many as they could. And more importantly never listen.

Bird bird. Bird is the word. Bird bird bird!
"Culture wars" get out of hand because the term is used to avoid discussion about issues that need discussion, and when you ignore something long enough it starts to fester and can get quite nasty.
Best solution is to have an open and honest discussion on any and all issues instead of labeling people you disagree with as monsters.
Expect that they have monstrous opinions, not even remotely backed by fact, so...
There is no "open and honest discussion" to be had with right wingers.
That's the problem, the people pushing the culture wars don't want an open and honest discussion, for if there was the lies will be exposed and that will be the end of the culture wars
