Growing up in a right wing family I've noticed that saying insanely stupid things is how they bond with one another. There were so many family BBQs and such where some of the most out of touch insane comments were made and then someone else would say something insane and they would all get pumped up together about the next insane thing that one of them would say, and they seemed happy to be enraged about insane stupid things. It's a strange thing to experience happening, the way that right wingers bond with one another.
