Next time a politician remarks about “supporting small business” as they love to do, I would enjoy hearing someone ask them about reinstating the Robinson-Patman act. I’m all for regulated-fair-as-fair-can-be-capitalism, but somehow America got high on the idea that everything should be for sale. When your politicians, laws, healthcare, judges and prisons are all for sale and trying to make a profit, I’m pretty sure that makes for less a civilized society and more of a jungle.
We had a very wealthy Bristol-Myers relative get a DUI and he actually had a park built if they washed his DUI. From memory I think his DUIs had started to add up so a bribe was needed to fix the problem. In SC after a judge raped two women who had to have sex with him in order to get their kids back in family court, it took six years but they finally got him removed but I’m not even sure he was punished for the crime, that story broke my heart and makes me wonder sometimes why people just don’t flip out and take action on their own. I’ve read a few hundred comments on people saying that exact thing about the Supreme Court and how possibly it’s our only recourse before all our rights are removed. At some point what will have left to lose when they’ve already taken it all except our ability to fight back the old fashioned way? Yes it’s ugly, messy but I believe the Heritage Foundation founder said it would get bloody only if we didn’t fully give up our rights and follow their Project 2025 then it wouldn’t be any problem at all aside of course we give up any beliefs and rights we may hold dear.

Our roads are falling apart for instance because they want to punish us for not supporting their corruption. I am old, and from my years of seeing the pattern, the sad fact is this can only change in one way, as designed, and the catastrophic level of civil unrest and damage that would occur is the perfect deterrent. This was well planned for a long time and is designed to leave people with nothing but bad options that will all benefit the opponents. I am sorry to be so negative but I am old and have been wanting the same changes you mention for decades & instead of gaining any ground on these issues, I have just seen them get further and further away with each new government agency, and law passed. As if I didn’t have enough reasons to hate John Bolton. I knew about the Powell Memo, but I didn’t know that John Bolton played a massive role in turning this whole country into the oligarchy that it is today.
Hear me out: the inherent contradictions of capitalism in absence of a secondary ideology to meaningfully challenge it (i.e. Socialism) will inevitably revert back to its former self despite attempts at reforming capitalism. We saw this before the end of World War II during the ‘New Deal Era’ and the ‘centralized wartime mobilization’ by the Government; in attempt to “save capitalism” but also as an experiment at actual social-democracy, etc. We are back into the robber-baron phase of Capitalism just in a technocratic, and hyper-individualistic way. The reality is we cannot save this system even if we make attempts at getting money out of politics- which isn’t even an idea I disagree with or wouldn’t want to see happen. I believe the system itself is the problem and it’s been coined as a form of “inverted totalitarianism.”

It's a tricky situation, because one person can't change a system on their own, and when people enter into a system they kind of just accept that things are the way they are. I guess a President could change it. Maybe some kind of public funded process would be the answer. This is THE BIG ISSUE OF OUR TIMES
And now the democrats are selling their souls.
How far away are we from cops taking bribes to not give you a ticket? And why haven't we gotten there yet?
Im sure if your wealthy enough they do.
@@counterflow5719 that’s gone and past. I guess you haven’t learned anything about the mafia…
Can’t bribe a terminator. The future is coming fast 🤣
We had a very wealthy Bristol-Myers relative get a DUI and he actually had a park built if they washed his DUI. From memory I think his DUIs had started to add up so a bribe was needed to fix the problem. You heard it right, as a kid of a state trooper and I worked seven years for a county 911 for over forty police stations, we knew about all the dirty juicy corruption in politics and how often the cops needed to help cover up dead prostitutes and cocaine overdoses. It was part of their job or you lost your job. It was so such an everyday thing that for me law politics and corruption is just a part of life. But if you don’t have money or influence basically you’re at their mercy. Maybe just maybe if you’re a young cute blonde that might give you something to work with and of course that happens much more then we want to admit.
@counterflow5719 We have been in that reality for a while. The police have been corrupt for a very long time. In some ways, they produce the corruption because they're the hired muscle.

Glad to hear someone talking about "The Powell Memo"!
Nice segment... my grandfather taught John Bolton biology at McDonogh in Maryland - which at that time was a Military School.... I remember when Ralph Nader hosted SNL... It was as if after the sacking of Jimmy Carter and the ushering in of the Reagan Era - the entire corporate blueprint was enacted - and you could feel it, the harmony of the 70s being flushed down the drain and the fingerprints of corporate America on any and every thing - political, economical, social, cultural, etc... That's why there was such an effort by the shitty DNC to rig the primary against Bernie [ Wasserman-Schultz scandal and then the 4th Place Biden BS]. Needs to turn around. We can't allow the Ghouls to rule us so.
Reagan won because he made a deal with the terrorists to not surrender and make Carter look weak. This from the same man who said "we will not negotiate with terrorists". Terrorism has been the main tool of republicans for 4 decades and their main way of hijacking our taxes into their own pockets.

After over 50 years of trying, I have to say that your last segment about being able to do something about it is wrong. I live in South Carolina. we have been trying to get Graham out of power for longer than I can remember, but 100% of the time, outside of the state money floods his campaign and the challengers get completely drowned out in a money war where the little guy is always crushed. This can and has manifest in dozens of ways. In the end the people of the state get punished by the establishment in the state for trying to get rid of Graham and his cohorts. It is way too late for an armed insurrection too, because they are prepared for it both with the propaganda, and war support if it were to happen.

Kneel before Zod
So true, but what do we do??
Interesting take. I think fighting money in our politics is a step in the right direction.
Semantic gymnastics have ruined us.
Promoting adherence to the second amendment isn’t corruption.
