    With no vertical fins and two engines, one each some distance from the centreline, it'd be a nightmare on one engine.

  • @f4udhorn
    @f4udhorn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sad. Life cut short of a fine pilot and nice looking young man. Failure of engine, torque converter, or possible thrown prop. Few twins are managable with an engine out, especially this one!

    • @crooked-halo
      @crooked-halo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Few twins are manageable with an engine out?" The Baron, Twin Bonanza, Cessna 310, 414, King Air and Diamond Twin were all pretty manageable on one engine to me.

    • @f4udhorn
      @f4udhorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crooked-halo And DC-3s, too. I meant to say those with far, off centerline twins. Look how far apart the engines were on the N9M.

    • @crooked-halo
      @crooked-halo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@f4udhorn Sure, I agree. The twins I've flown are friendly single engine. This flying wing was surely more challenging single engine, as evidenced by the crash with a highly-experienced pilot. Most twins are manageable on one engine if you're trained. Training is key, as every twin is different on one engine. But all the twins I've flown (not many) are pretty benign with one fan turning. Haven't flown a DC-3 (yet), but I've heard they're pretty good single engine if lightly loaded.
