I was blown away by this song when I first heard it, and after listening and analyzing the song multiple times, what amazes me is that the song has A LOT of key changes yet still sounded seamless the whole way though. If anyone's curious, here's the key analysis (timestamps are from the Cry Baby MV):
    - Intro (0:00-0:09): G Minor (borrowing harmonic minor)
    - Verses (0:09-0:23, 1:36-2:26): F Minor
    - Pre-chorus (0:23-0:48, 2:26-2:50): D Minor
    - Chorus (0:48-1:36, 2:50-end): D Major, transitioning to Db Major four measures in (3:33-3:43 has a brief E Major moment)
All in all, there were like 10 key changes throughout the song and the only one I noticed in my first hearing was at the very last chorus.
Anyway, thank you for reacting to this song! If I have to recommend another anime song, I recommend listening to "Asphyxia" by Cö Shu Nie from the Tokyo Ghoul re: soundtrack since I bet you're gonna have a fun time with that song's complexity hehe. 💛💛

the constant modulations in this song really work with the show/manga - the main premise is the main character jumping through different timelines to stop another guy taking over a gang who kill his childhood sweetheart, and it flip flops between the present and different pasts. i thought it was really cool how the song jumped through different keys similar to how the main character jumps through timelines. official hige dandism are amazing!

I think this song relates perfectly to the story. I watched some episodes and even if not many I got a very strong feeling about what's going on. I think the song has five main words you can relate it to: Nostalgia, Regret, Grieving, Darkness and Hope. Those words represent different sounds i've heard that resonate to me. I feel like the song really conveys the message of the main character trying his best to amend his wrong doings in the past by going back and getting everything fine to avoid the "bad end" as the song says in part. So it's a song about working hard through your main goal. It's bitter sweet because of how many things have happend so I really feel both motivated and also about to cry with this song. It's a real feels trip.

if you enjoyed this song, with a lot of shifts and different parts that sound so powerful and beautiful, i would totally recommend Dying Wish from moriarty the patriot (yes, a sherlock holmes based anime). the song gives similar vibes as this one, i really enjoyed it. the second opening was amazing as well so i hope you'll check them out :)

It's not hee-GAY it's hee-GEH. A Japanese person would never pronounce the syllable GE as GAY. That's something only an English speaker would do.

@@PlugInKali you right, my b. Don’t think that distinction would make much difference to Tony but ur right. I didn’t think much on how to write it out phonetically lol, this is better. Will fix it

Tokyo Revengers is about a guy who has to travel back in time to his childhood in order to stop someone from taking over a gang which eventually leads to his girlfriends death in the future. Its completely filled to the brim with dramatic twists and pacing shifts and I really think the intro echoes that. Its fast and intense but then it can slow down and become sombre whilst the main character struggles with this conflict. The lyrics also match the show pretty perfectly,. Awesome breakdown as usual man, thanks for reacting to this.

that eye-wide "oh!" look when the chorus began because of the key shift, followed by the stunned silence without a single pause in the video was my EXACT reaction when i first heard this song LMAOO. i was like, "how??...... WOW... oh my god there's more?" and the song just gets progressively better the more you listen to it. it's incredible

Ay, nice video, if you lack anything to watch, I recommend Ado. She is one of the big stars in Japan (if not the biggest) right now, who sang the songs in the new One Piece film

Would love to see DrumRollTony, Charles Cornell, and MarcoMeatball collab on listening to something and then dissect it from their separate perspectives they're known for.
I bet they could have a lengthy discussion just bouncing ideas off each other.
