i see the canadian dairy will get hit by Trump again we already drained 60 % of Canadian milk down the drain from the last time this idiot did that to use we not allow to farm in Canada that trump meaning to use
This is a testament to your family's commitment to continuing an industry that too few people understand and even fewer understand the sacrifice an individual makes to be a farmer.
WOW! Another great video. My interest in this project just keeps growing. Some day this will come together and I can hardly wait. I am sure you and your family is also waiting for that day to happen. I hope you video those 1st cows entering the carousal.
Hi Andy ! wow! Well done that new milking barn , very nice . corn is done congratulation ! Thanks Andy for your time and have a good day at the farm .🙋♂️
Very impressive Andy, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the parlour for the first couple of transition days but after that it should be a great place to milk.
Another great video Andy, it looks like your contact crew is getting it done. It is so interesting watching the progress. Thank you for taking us along with the construction.
Wow what a building, very impressive. Just a quick thought on the electrical room Andy. Might be worth putting some A/C in there to keep it all cool in the summer.
I have to deal with rooms like that that have ac in them in the winter. When ac shuts down it does not take long for heat detectors to go off. Surprising how much heat is generated.
Great work Andy shows that you and your family have faith in the dairy industry How many cows do you milk, and do you milk full year 365 days I am an ex dairy farmer from Ireland.,living in Western Australia for over 30 years I enjoy your videos Good Luck ☘️☘️🍀🍀🇮🇪🇦🇺🚜🚜🇮🇪
Thanks for the tour. Really enjoyed the bunk flyover and explanation. Do you get many city folk stopping thinking you have a ski resort with all those white mountains?
Andy as always a great video ,the scale of the operation is mind blowing. , the management skills has to be awesome . Best of luck from across the pond . T
65 yrs old, and when I was in HS I milked for a neighbor (we had a thousand hogs )and that parlor held 3 . And at that time we thought we were big sht lol. Very impressive Andy
Once again Andy, a big thank you for taking time to show off the new project. Big improvements since last vid. ETA about 60 days out now? One observation, what's the story on the supports on the new Parlor overhang - someone didn't lay out the footings for the columns?? Punch list item for sure. Keep up the good work, know these 'tours' take away from family time.
Over the years, he has explained why he does not do a video of The Parlor. There is no video of the Parlor and there never will be. Take a good look at this video, this may be the last one of the carousel. Once it's in operation, I am doubting that the camera will ever go inside.
I figured there was a reason, something like Byrne Dairy having an NDA or the employees working in there don't want to be on camera. This man has a boat load of footage but in the past handful of years I have not noticed him say anything about it. Was looking for some updated clarification to help educate us.
How many cows does your current holding pen hold and is your current parlor a boumatic as well? Great video as usual! Awesome to see a real family farm making improvements and room for future generations!
Great video. Thanks for the update. It's looking great. I bet you can't wait till it's up and running. I know your family is eager to get it going. A time saver for sure.
I love the fact that your a family operation not a invester owned by people in Dubai.hope you feel better soon andy, can tell your battling respiratory issue, had the same crap for three weeks, antibiotics did nothing. Night quill or bourbon got me thru
What a MASSIVE project !!! Great video as always. The planning and execution has been great to watch. I was born and raised on a dairy farm where we milked 50-60 cows in a stancion barn. Then bought one and milked 150-200 in a double six parlor. Very impressed with this huge UPGRADE to the farm. Be safe and HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!
Andy, at some point could you talk about how you get certified or the process on how you sanitize everything prior to running the first set of cows threw? I e always been curious about how you would go about doing something like that
Very impressive facility . You & your family have been building a dream (or huge headache) for years. I wish you continued success to the whole family.
this is a sincere question and absolutely not a criticism of your wonderful new facility - I believe you have been saying that the existing parlor will be dismantled when the new one is operational, so, is there a "plan b" in case of catastrophic failure (fire, tornado, etc.) or even routine significant mechanical failure(?). Besides farming, I financed the rural electric utilities for 15 years and for these reasons they built redundancy and repeatability in all their "critical" systems as much as possible - for instance, they likely would have built two identical smaller parlors to accomplish the same thing, albeit at a higher cost. Love the content and what it has taught me about scalable dairy and farming in beautiful upstate New York.
I hope these questions weren’t asked previously, how long for the carousel to make a complete rotation and do any dairies in your area process the manure with methane digesters?
There are two farms in the Southern Tier of NY that have them but they both hate them and don't really use them anymore due to maintenance and reliability issues. They cost more to run and maintain than they save in electricity expenses
A place farther North and East has a digester and generator for 3200 head. When I was there, the only complaint was how the grant for the setup was done, owner said he would do the next one differently. I think the real break even takes over 2500 head of milking cows.
@@MorganOtt-ne1qjThere are two farms here, east central Wisconsin that have them. One the contract for selling the electricity went lower it wasn’t worth it. Now they are selling the gas and it is shipped to California and it is worth it. One farm is 4000 milking head and the other is around 2000 I believe. I have used the solids that those spit out. It is the consistency of haylage and is awesome fertilizer.
@mikei2545 The one that I visited uses the dried solids for bedding. There's a 800 head dairy near me that doesn't digest, but has a press to dry the manure down and uses the solids for bedding. They stabilize with lime.
Probably won't happen. They have plenty of big tractors with big blades and can get the $ trucks in and out. When I was in the Dairy biz, I didn't rely on the State to clear the roads, I made sure that the truck could get in and out from the main highway. Another dairy neighbor would meet the truck to get to his place for pickup. You just make it happen, and don't expect anyone else to.
@@MorganOtt-ne1qj Getting in and out of the yard isn't the issue. If they have to haul the milk 30 or 40 miles or more they absolutely will rely on the state to clear the roads.
@@hawki5120 I don't agree. I'm not in the same area nor climate, but most farmers will go the extra miles to get the milk to market. NY is well versed in clearing roads, and I don't think they have outlawed assistance from private people who can help if needed. Maybe they have banned non government approved assistance, it is NY. But if it was MY milk, I would get it to a clear road . I did it when it was only a mile, and I would have gone 20 to the Interstate.
Good vid andy thanks for sharing. New milking setup looks good probably be a little quicker than the old parlor once the cows get things figured out. Those headlocks and gates look like sturdybilt brand? We have those and they're nice.
I LIKE TO THANK U FOR SHOWING THE NEW PARLOR. YEAR'S PAST WORK IN A 2 COW PARLOR UP TO A DOUBLE 12 PARLOR. I WOULD HAVE LIKE TO WORK IN ONE LIKE YOUR NEW ONE .
I didn’t realize you were building a new parlor. As you walked around, all I see is a shit ton of money being invested. I really like that you included a break room and a shower. That being said, makes sense why you need all that feed now.
Hope they have fun retraining the cows when you put the new parlor into production. Im going to have to make a trip to come see this in action. How much longer is it going to take to feed
Thank you for a great tour very impressive build.,. Question about the fans in the barn are milk co-op made us put screens around your fans in the stalls I was wondering if yours is going to have to make you put screens around all the fans turn into a fiasco to get it done??
Will be a big day when the first cows start going in the new parlor. As that Canadian if i by believe they get paid really good for there milk because they are on a quota system. Anyway that's all i got to say about that. Looks good Andy and the Horigan crew. Probably spelt your name wrong. Cant wait for the next vid to see how its coming along
The farm corn silage must be around 18,000 US tons and mixed with 20 million gals of water per year makes a heap of manure to spread on the fields. The new shed and palour seem to be coming alone quite well.
Looked like the far back bunk with no back wall had a section of plastic starting to lift. Right against concrete wall and grass bank. Im sure you already know at this point though.
Looking great! And the black and white matches the ladies in the herd! Nice looking herd, I'm curious, what is your primary AI Service company? Genex, Select, ABS, etc? Thanks for the tour of the place, someone nearby has been using a rotary parlor for over a year, and they love it.
Do you milk 2 or 3 times a day? How many animals can the rotary milk per hour and what is the difference between the rotary and the parlor you have per hour? That’s an amazing looking barn beats tie stalls the way I use to milk with my grandparents and uncle. I do miss the cows though and the farm life. Thanks for the video!!
Interesting Andy, good to see you’re expanding / renewing. Are you taking on extra cows and if so, how many will you be running? Looks live you’ve got enough feed for a good while, must have been a good season?
Very nice and HOLY acres of plastic now. Question though, what did they use for a finish material on the plywood walls in the parlor on the bottom 4' and top section? I am building a barn addition next spring and don't want to use FRP Panel if i don't have to. Can 3 people do the milking when the parlor is completed? Robot dippers?
I would love see a video of the old parlor and milking never seen a video on it been following you for years .If you have a video can you send the link.

You never really ever make any sense. My guess is that you talk just like you write or type…In other words you sound like a mumbling idiot.
TDS exists in Canada too?
Is this English?
Can’t wait to see it in use keep up the good work
Like talkin to Boomhauer
What an operation !! Very impressive! Kudos to the entire Hourigan family.
This is a testament to your family's commitment to continuing an industry that too few people understand and even fewer understand the sacrifice an individual makes to be a farmer.
Yes Sir Andy that sure is impressive. A whole lot of planning gone into this project. Thanks for the update.
Pretty badassss Andy!! Some day i would like to drive out there to see just how big your farm is. Great work
Enjoyed your video Andy barn is impressive. Will be neat to see it in operation. Cows look great well taken care of. Have a great day.

Absolutely spectacular. I am beyond thrilled for you and your family.
Andy how many employees do you have on the farm counting family members. This is a very impressive project. Stay safe. 🇺🇸

In 1970, a swinging double 6 was the big one. By 1980, a double 6 lowline (12 units) was small. Times definitely have changed. 👍

Amazing operation Andy. In NZ we have some big farms but nothing like your operation. 😊
Great build Andy.
Thanks for sharing.
Not that the breakdowns and harvesting isnt interesting. But the milking aspect is overdue and greatly appreciated change.
Thank you for another Great video. Cheers
