I’ve been using waymo for over 3 years in phoenix. The days of Uber and Lyft are numbered. Every drive I’ve taken is a good drive. Truly incredible and lucky to be one of the first to use it daily.

I'm glad that this company is talking about expanding their business to Japan. A lot of cities in Japan has a labor shortage in their Transportation Sector (they're in need of a lot of bus, taxi, and truck drivers.) And because of that; Japan has been forced to allow a lot of low skilled foreigners from poor and dangerous countries to come to work and live in Japan this past decade. Which has unfortunately caused an increase of crimes in some Japanese cities. Innovation and technology like this can fix that type of problem in Japan and other countries that have are also facing this type of issue.

Does somebody know how much this ride cost now? And how much it is actually cost? I'm thinking it should be much more expensive than Uber. Because uber drivers have on average a 10K car and here is 75K only one lidar! I think this car can cost at least 200K! But the milage before you have to replace it the same as for normal cars! Plus all technicians to serve this cars and rides, and they are legal workers, not uber drivers. And who will clean the car after every ride? Next rider? Another question is self-driving Tesla legal now in CA? I mean can I go to a bar drink hard and after self-driving my tesla back home? And is it strange that google uses Jaguar paying all custom when Tesla is right here in CA?

Our brain is not very fast, but it definitely works smarter than any modern software. And that's what I'm talking about. A person can predict the behavior of another driver, even if he does the exact opposite of what he intends to do =) I especially think this is true when another car starts to move from a side road. When a person is driving, they may notice that the person has just gotten into the car and turned the wheels, and if she hasn't even turned on her turn signals, you will be ready to slow down or stop to let her pass. The robotaxi will simply drive at the speed limit because the other car isn't moving, and if she didn't check her mirrors or the robot was in her blind spot, there will definitely be an accident here and the expensive side lidar will be gone.

The Devel Sixteen is now the fastest car in Asphalt 9 surpassing Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster in-terms of top speed (556.2 at stock and 567 at MAX).

I hope that they make cars like these in the future that we could own instead of just using it for taxi. It would help plenty of us who don’t know how to drive to have a car that drives itself. I hope they make stuff like that in the future so I can buy one and don’t need my drivers license

I would feel far safer with this than Tesla. Main reason is lidar vs pure visual. Thing is, I think pure visual needs "life experience" in order to decide whether something is dangerous or natural, etc. For instance, the original Tesla autopilot accident: car didn't see semi crossing road because the trailer color blended into sky. Human would have understood. Lidar would also see it.
Also, Elon Musk is far more risk tolerant than a consumer car manufacturer head should be.

I have technical questions... Does this waymo needs road signature boards , Lane cutting marks, Street divider etc to detect the road or it uses it radar , lidar n camera to detect by its own ? Second one tell us difference between Tesla autonomous and Waymo !

I drive Lyft everyday in San Francisco and I have never encountered problems with Waymo cars stopping out of the blue and delaying traffic as I have with Cruise cars (which the city banned after it dragged a pedestrian a few feet down the street). I'm not afraid that it might drive me out of business one day. You know, change is what progress is all about. New tech comes in to fill the needs of society and just as old jobs cease to exist new jobs are created. Autonomous cars are here to stay, there's no going back, we just have to accept it and learn how to adapt to the new.

Only problem with these I can think of is if someone decides to put something in front of the car or stand there then you're stuck. Or if you got hacked like on Upgrade.
