Looks very easy. I'm excited to make my my melt and pour soaps. I'm using the base to make bar shampoo. Just wondering if there is a maximum amount of fragrance that can be added. I have found the fragrance guide a little vague. I'm using pineapple and guava natural fragrance (25ml). The guide says • Bath Oils, Soaps • Maximum Use 100%. I'm just not sure what size bottle and to how much soap base? For the first batch I wont be heavy handed anyway. Looking forward to trying the african black soap when it's restocked.
HI Richelle, the IFRA's can be a little confusing. I've checked the pineapple guava IFRA and the 'pragmatic' use is 5%. So this basically means the ideal amount is 5% although using more is not going to be harmful. What you have to be careful off is whatever you are fragrancing can hold 5%. So for example we would not ever put more than 5% of fragrance in soap because the soap couldn't handle it and if it was cold pressed it might seize and do all sorts of weird and wonderful things. Lotions might separate if you add 5%. So really the IFRA tells you the safest amount you can use of that fragrance but then you need to follow the maximum fragrance load guidelines of the product. I hope that makes sense and i haven't confused you further.
HI sara, no you cannot. This only works on soaps. Isopropyl alcohol is also quite flammable so you do not want it near any product that is going to have an open flame on it or near it.
please tell the temp to what the soap should be heated upto in double boiler? i usually heat upto 75 deg then add clay and fragrance .. and straight away goes into mold .. im i doing it right ?
HI Nik, yes you are doing it right. I don't particularly heat it to a temperature, more to where it is melted and liquid sufficiently so as to add fragrance etc. You just have to make sure you don't 'cook' your soap by heating it too much and burning it
If kept in the correct way then as long as normal soap. If you are not using it wrap it up in clear plastic wrap so it doesn't attract the moisture from the air
the recommended usage rate for this F.O in soap is 9.23% but 30ml to 200g of soap would go over that wouldn't it? it would be 15%.. ( sorry if I am wrong my maths is not great)
no your maths is correct. At the beginning we show green tea and lemongrass which is what the measurements were calculated on which has a very high usage rate in soap. When making the video I have grabbed the wrong fragrance forgetting which one I have quoted percentages on. Good idea to check the IFRA and table under each fragrance. thanks for picking that up.
I just purchased kits and ingredients in your online shops. I Love lemon grass and geranium scents but you are out of stock, also your soup molders are mostly out of stock.

Hi, if you don't have a microwave can you use a double boiler similar to melting candle wax
HI Rebekah, yes a double boiler would also work
Can you mix different soap bases? Eg: a goats milk and shea butter mix or just one base per soap?
Hi Ashley, you can defintely mix the soap bases together.
@@aussiecandlesupplies Cheers thanks for that!
How long can we keep the soap
If kept in the correct way then as long as normal soap. If you are not using it wrap it up in clear plastic wrap so it doesn't attract the moisture from the air
How long will the soap last ?
If it is wrapped correctly it will last indefinitely
