- This time i modify my girlfriend's car so it has EPS (electric power steering) this steering column is a cheap alternative ( around 100 dollars). It's also used in rally cars and Classic Hot Rod's.

I was wondering why he was removing the column the entire time, i never expected the whole thing to be under the dash though, that's so cool and smart though keeps it out of the elements more than it does in the engine bay

There's an issue with my power steering ( eps). just when i started the engine the steeringwheel started to turn at right side directions. May i ask what problem might this be? When the car started to run i just hold the steering wheel coz it won't stop turning to the right. It is still manageable for me bcoz it is still light to handle. But when if i take my hands off the steering wheel it will keep to theright direction. I needto know what will be the parts onthe steering components to replace.
+Micca Sophia what brand is your car? It can be a faulty eps controller box, or the direction switch on the motor.

I gotta say have fun when it goes out and causes you to wreck. There's a reason why there's manufacture recalls on these things.
Thats a factory unit. And there were no recalls for this one...
the mechanical part doesn't bother me so much rather than the wiring portion of this conversion! if i may... beside the obvious positive and negative, is the steering motor always on when ign on or those it get a signal feed by a steering angle sensor or other? i'm currently looking into thin column option and a eletric power steering pump and the wiring issue got me worried....can you help? tx

Aber mein Fiat hat das ja schon vom Werk aus eingebaut und wird mit einer Taste "City" aktiviert.
Verdammt hilfreich wenn es um enge Parklücken geht.

its a EPS unit from Opel. Electronic Power Steering. its almost plug and play in this video :)

+David Jegan Thank you. Not in all cases. Most of them have Hydraulic power steering.
Of cause of the have mechanic steering, is it alwasy the same? Ian sure half of the viewers think you bought the oem steering column and not something universal
It's the OEM steering column. And no the mechanical steering is not always the same.
@@Ollaris can I use a hydraulic steering box for this process, if yes, but steering box oil leaking from oil seal, is it ok to use
excellent video of conversion, I have two questions, how did you do for the electrical connection inside the car, is there a need to change the hydraulic steering box when making the conversion?
The steering box mod I've seen is: Just making a loop of steering hose from one hose port to the other just to keep existing steering fluid inside the steering box...
Why would you add power steering to a vehicle that already has it????? The only thing with hydraulics is a power steering box. Manual boxes are sealed.

Te hago una consulta. Quiero adaptar uno a mi vehículo, tiene dos cables gruesos, esos van a la batería. Pero en otro enchufe tiene 5 cables, Vi que le pusiste un potenciómetro, cómo debería conectar esos 5 cables? Gracias

Can you share some dimensions. I'm planning to fit it on my off road project i don't have any steering assistance and at low speed it is painfull to turn the steering wheel. I just need to have some basic (width at servo location ) to see if it can fit under a dash its pretty crowded .. Subscribed simple and on point videos no bs talking 5 mins before starting the project. Jist as iy should be.
Does not need signal from injection ecu and abs ecu ?

Amigo donde va conectado el modulo de la columna de dirección yo tengo un nissan sentra 2006 y una columna de dirección electro asistida de un tiida y la caja cremallera pero el modulo no se como va conectado me podrías asesorar en ese tema te lo agradecería infinitamente
Cabe mencionar que mi sentra no tiene ni un arnés destinado para este proyecto yo hasta ahorita solo tengo un arnés para suministrar el modulo y el arnés que va de la columna al modulo pero me queda un arnés (el del modulo) espero que la respuesta no sea hacia la computadora del carro 😔)

you just added some power to your wheels which was getting wasted earlier to drive the hydraulic pump of the previous rack

+Rakhmad Romadhoni You don't need any! The little black box and the potentiometer in this video are exactly the solution. You just need to adjust the potentiometer to get the desired assistance.
did you mean that the potentiometer manipulate the speed sensor, and make it constant speed value for EPS modul.... whats value of potentiometer? 5K ohm??

Hello Friend. all well? I would like you to please show me which link pins are used for the steering sensitivity controller. because i'm from brazilian and i bought this steering column for my corsa c. and there was no extra wiring. I would like to know which pins to use and which one is the key post.
The small box you see in the video you don’t need. There should be already a wire loom in your C corsa from factory even if it doesn’t came eith power steering. It should be a White plug on the left side. You just need to plug that into the EPS box that is on the power steering column.

Do you know if it's possible for a t5 2009 multivan? Cause i'm quadriplegic and the power steering is a little bit heavy for me.
Sorry to hear that! Sadly as far as i know the VW T5 has a hydraulic power steering. And it can't be upgraded any further.

What a great video you've got here. I'm looking for a similar solution to install on a 1995 Citroen ZX (the most economical and reliable car I've ever had).
Where did you get that module? Is it Opel standard? Did you buy it new or was it taken from a salvage car? Would it work on a Citroen? (probably the screws would not fit, right?)

+Vitor Madeira Yes it's an Opel OEM part. The Corsa B and Corsa C have these modules. You can find these in most salvage yards. I think you need to modify it to fit the Citroen.

Thanks! Yes it is possible. I think the Corsa B has already been wired up for power steering from factory you just need to change the steering column. Make sure you get one where the control box comes with it. You should find all the plugs necessary behind the dashboard
