Welcome to yet another Mortal Kombat video!
Now today seeing as you all really really enjoyed the Khrome video last week, I figured that for fun, we could talk about one of the lesser know character of the series, Hydro!
Hydro Is a cult beloved characters that has sadly only briefly made small appearances in median, with that said, lets give a somewhat forgotten ninja of the series some love as we talk about this member of the lin Kuei, a very old ally of bihans and touch on his involvement In the Malibu comic book series as well as Mortal Kombat legacy!

I always thought he was a fanmade character like Khrome. Until I saw the water wave from him as a consumable in MK11.
Cyber-Hydro was in the Legacy web-series. Jobbed to Cyrax & Sektor
Well before legacy I think most people just knew about Hydro from the MK Project Mugen games

That water wave consumable is my sole reason for watching this video
Seems like Hydro is a hybrid from both Clans Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei.
The fact he can raise the temperature and make ice which make water.
And then from a borg initiative, can manipulate Plasma from both water fire and electricity.
He would be quite the foe.
Lin kuei isn’t just a cryomancer clan tho and no other shirai ryu have hellfire
I need to see a Hydro and Rain fight or a rematch with him and Scorpion
Hydro would probably worship Rain and become "The Avatar of Rain" The Forecaster of Deaths Reign.
That would be fun
If they did a hydro for real, he would have to play like a mix of subzero and rain

I honestly liked hydro even though he was short lived he’s so cool I hope he gets brought into the main games I could see him being friends with kuai liang sub-zero or good comrades at least and if they gave him classic ninja skin he’d definitely be dark blue or turquoise

Hydro definitely needs to make a proper debut again. Hopefully in a live action with the likes of Kuai Liang in a MK movie sequel. The new MK movies have so much lore they can use and exploring the Lin Kuei and the cyber initiative would be interesting to see in a sequel.

I believe that Hydro has a strong chance to be in the Mortal Kombat franchise someday in the future,hell seeing a Lin Kuei warrior or Cyber Lin Kuei who can manipulate water temperature sounds cool as heck.
Well if you're not ignorant of mortal kombat then yes, obviously.
Because all mortal kombat games are *based on Mortal Kombat tournament 10.* The final Tournament.
They can always make games based on tournaments 1-9. Which would include so many new characters.

I dont think people that play call of duty are PhDs in war history because theyve learned so much from the stories.

A part of me is hoping to see hydro in a future game. I figure since they let tremor get a spot hydro wouldn't be too far fetched
@Karsielatee Watkins only if you look at it that way. Sub zero and frost have the same powers & so do liu kang and scorpion and nobody seems to mind 🤷🏾♂️

@@xtra35cent yeah but their powers are completely different in the way they’re used, scorpion doesn’t use fire balls, and liu kang can’t turn into literal flames like scorpion can. Also the frost/sub-zero argument can’t be used because frost is a part of the lin kuei, so it would make sense she has similar abilities to sub-zero
@@FALLENSK8ER1995 everybody in the lin kuei doesn't have the same powers by using that logic you're assuming cyrax and sektor had ice like powers when they didn't, they didn't have powers at all when they were human as a matter of fact. And yes liu kang and scorpion use their powers differently but my point was that they both have the same powers whether they use it in different ways or not and if you noticed in the video it's stated that hydro can not only control water but he can control the temperature of it as well so if he were to appear in mk they would base his moveset off that so his powers would be used in a different way than rains
There should also be a talk about Aqua. Y’all remember that ninja that was teased for MK Trilogy but never made it in the original cut of the game? Would love to see that mysterious *kombatant soon.

It said that he was teased for MK Trilogy, but never made it in the final cut. I’d like to know more about him.

I mean at first thought it does seem redundant to have two characters with very similar abilities. But then you gotta remember Bi-Han, Kuai Lang, and Frost have the same powers. 😂
MK9 had those 3 plus cyber Subzero with the same Powers
It would be good for them to show the Lin kuei have more than just three ninjas in their ranks. Although personally, I think when it comes to obscure characters, Hornbuckle is probably the highest profile entry not to make it into a game.
Ah yes, green Liu Kang
I feel like Hornbuckle could be introduced as a legit character, via a Shao Khan clone of Lui Kang. A creature he creates to be a foil to the real Lui Kang.

How about the Female Khameleon? Or maybe touch on the characters from Mortal Kombat Conquest like Taja, Siro, and Vorpax?
Female Khameleon is cannon. You don't see her because Shao Kahn sent her away
Khameleon is an official character playable in MK Trilogy and MK Armageddon

Shujinko's conquest from deception was one of my favorite things about the whole series. It made me think for a while they were gonna pivot to him being main character for a while.
He’s quite a cool character getting to see Bi-Han be alley’s with someone other than his brother just a shame his gimmick gets over shadowed by Rain

I thought hydro was really underrated. And while there is overlap between him and Rain, that's also the case with Tremor and Geras. So I think there's potential for him in a future MK game, and I think they could really develop his water powers even more and make him even cooler than Rain.
Could be the reason they’ve made smoke and rain into who they are now so they could introduce him mk1 or 2

@@PestilencePacerHow? The characters literally look nothing alike, the only thing they technically have in common is that Tremor controls rocks and tectonic plates and Geras controls sands.

@@PestilencePacerGeras is a time shifting character. And because old time keepers (like an hour glass) regularly used sand as the material inside the hour glasses themselves. The devs used that idea to also give him sand powers.
Tremor (you can see him briefly in the new Omni-Man trailer as a cameo character), is a earth bender basically. In MKX he controls rock, lava, crystal and various metals.
But yeah, they are completely two different characters. Also Tremor is classified as a Ninja like Sub Zero and Scorpion, etc, he just happens to be a big boi.
I'd definitely include him in my own reboot for the series. He'd be Bi-han's best friend and his death at the hands of Scorpion would become Bi-han's motivation to take Scorpion out.
Hdryo V. Rain intro be like:
"where there is rain, there is water"
"Water is wet"
"and so are we"
One thing I like about Hydro is how he compliments Bi Han like Smoke compliments Kuai Liang in MK9, so on front I'd like to see more of him.
We don't need him in a Mortal Kombat game when Rain exist.

You'd think I'd hear about Hydro. I've never even heard about him, he does sound cool. Plus, I love how you explain the canon of Mortal Kombat and the lore of all of the characters, because I love a good story, as well. Especially how you told Shao Khan and Shang Tsung's lore.
About hydro, I have two ideas that could be interesting:
- to make him the blue cyborg from the Cyber Lin Kuei Assembly (if there’s another mk11 dlc), it would be nice if they add sektor and cyrax too (as a cyborg dlc pack). I would pay for this, and they could use all three existing models, and the moves they already have from their npc fights
- in a new reboot, it would be nice to add new moves for some kharacters, like noob having some ice powers from his alive past as bi-han, and maybe making kuai liang hydro. Maybe if bi-han (sub-zero) and hydro (kuai liang) came together for the first tournament and they learn about their heritage as cryomancers, kuai liang would try and learn his own ice moves, having this water-ice kinda moves, making him his own version of sub-zero, wanting to avenge his brother after he got killed by scorpion, and not just being the same sub-zero his brother was (like on mk9, where both sub-zeros were the same kharacter, but with a different skin). I know kuai liang was tundra before becoming sub-zero, but they are just kinda nicknames, so they don’t necessarily have to be the same every timeline
More lesser known characters. Maybe he will appear in the next mk game
You should talk about the characters from the spinoff games that never been in a mk game like the brother hood of shadow and the other black dragon.
He could talk about No Face.

I love this channel. Took a break after getting the platinum trophy for MK11 (pretty easy), bought MK11 ultimate for ps4 and switch (switch version is SO MUCH better than what it was at launch), plus the new movie helped get me interested in the franchise again... Now I'm relearning everything. Good times
These fan made characters deserve 1 chance of being in some MK media after approval with Ed Boon & John Tobias
This character would be cool in MK11, he would be so versatile, and his mix ups would be crazy, definitely wanna see him or someone like him with those type of abilities

Hydro sure is popular in Mortal Kombat Project. That was where I was introduced into the character and then seeing him in Legacy sure was something.

There has been characters who started off colour pallets. Khrome is one of them although he has never officially been created. He still deserves a spotlight.

Should do one for Wu Lae, that would be badass. He's the canon forgotten orange ninja. Hydro, Oniro, Komodai, Khrome, etc. have never made an in-game appearance besides Hydro being a Konsumable in MK11 and Khrome a Kalling Kard in MKX.
Once I learned about Hydro he was one of my favorite Ninja in the series. I love how he is a cool 50/50 of rain and sub zero

I love these videos like this with Hydro and Khrome, and I'd definitely love to see more of lesser known and similar type characters! Tasia definitely comes to mind, or there's a slew of interesting ones from the comics like the crew from special forces with Mika Stone, Vapor, and Sylence, not that there's much more to them then the comics they're included in, but maybe they could be lumped together in one vid. There are more interesting characters from the old comics too that some vids could be dedicated to explaining. Also Kia & Jataaka, I always thought they would be cool to include in the games
Making Hydro alternate costume for Rain is cool enough. Hopefully Khrome got the same treatment, possibly as Smoke skin

Hydro should have the ability to make the water extremely cold and hot and take water out of people since we have water in us or us it against us
Honestly think they should make him like a Water Bender from Avatar where he can manipulate water to such a degree he can control it in all its forms, as steam, water and ice. I am just imagining a scenario where he has to assassinate a whole room full of people so he heats up some water with his powers to create steam to fill the room with, then turns all that steam into ice spikes that surround everyone in the room and he impales them all in one fell swoop. You could even give him Blood Bending abilities though as a balance I'd say he has to be in contact with your blood to control it so he can't just kill you instantly, like he'd have to cut you with a water blade, then use his water to connect with your blood and then he can manipulate it and you're dead.

I do wish we'd see more of the other Lin Kuei characters as a whole. Sub-Zero's out here killing it, but there's way more to that faction that deserves some shine. I'd like to see more of the Black Dragon too, but I think you might of covered that w/ Kabal and Kano.
I'm a mortal kombat fan from way back and never heard of hydro. My favorite mlk before the last three is ultimate mortal kombat. It had the most characters in a mlk game besides Armageddon.
I used to think Hydro was just a fan name for rain. Then, when I played Mythologies, I thought it was the water god. Now, I think it's more of an internal joke among the creators of the game than anything else. I think Ed Boon himself made a misleading twitt before releasing MK9 where he talked about new characters such as Hydro and cyborg Sub Zero, so the fans wouldn't know what was really happening.
Honestly, between those facts and Rain, I doubt they're ever going to include Hydro in the games.
Honestly his powers could be really cool and unique, he could be like a mix of Sub-Zero, Rain and Smoke where his powers of water and the ability to manipulate its temperature could allow him to control water in each state of matter. Like he could raise the temperature to turn it into steam (gas) or return it back to water (liquid) or freeze it (solid), and you could differentiate him from Sub-Zero by having him be unable to create complex ice constructs like Sub-Zero can, like Hydro couldn't create weapons or an ice replica but he could cover an entire room with steam, then use all that moisture to form into ice spikes to slaughter the whole room. I could even see him being especially deadly if he comes in contact with his opponent's blood where the second he does, he could manipulate the water in it, effectively becoming a blood bender. Like the second he touches your blood, he could just freeze you from the inside, instant death. Pun intended, his fighting style could be a more fluid take on Sub-Zero's more solid way of fighting with his powers. Also, I'd keep him as a human, we have enough cyber ninjas and as of MK9, the Cyber Ninjas are shit who don't accomplish anything. Every Lin-Kuei member besides Kuai-Liang is transformed in some way and are just minions for the villains to use, from Sektor and Cyrax as Cyborg minions for Frost for some reason to Smoke and Noob being Quan-Chi's minions, I'd like to see a human Lin-Kuei that is a hero instead of a villain because MK villains never win any more. Honestly I want Smoke to return to life and Sub-Zero to have a meaningful conversation with Noob because they are brothers.
I think they could rework this character and make him the water God. It would still tie him to the first Sub-Zero and make the water God from mythologies more interesting.
I mean we kinda got a water demi god with being rain who's way more popular then hydro.

7:04 Before MK Legacy came along, there was his appearance in the fanmade Mortal Kombat Mugen games from the mid-to-late 2000s where he was a cyborg, so fans pretty much predicted him becoming a cyborg in that series. And I'd argue the MK Mugen fangames were many fans' introduction to Hydro - it was certainly my introduction to him.

I am a big fan of mk franchise and I pride on knowing. The detail history. And obscure characters. And I have never heard of. Hidro. You blew my mind my friend. Sub zero is my fav character. So I find hydro as a very cool character
I had a fireworks package which featured hellfire Scorpion and named as "Hydro"! Laughed my ass off for days...
That Rain variation is sick.
Hydro was a character I was hoping to be a DLC in Mortal Kombat 11 since back in MKX I didn't know about another ninja swap character like Tremor. So it would have been cool if NRS brought back an obscure character that the fans never know existed. But unfortunately we have to have guest characters like RoboCop,Rambo and such as a waste of space.
Cyber Reptile was another character too and he was apart of the Lin Quei.

I learned of Hydro from MK Mugen. Same with Hornbuckle, Tremor, Khrome, etc.
His other best homie was smoke, we need to see pack of badass ninjas causing havoc like hydro, sub z, smoke, reptile, and ermac, uh. . . . Rain, scorpion, tremor, Sektor, noob, and cyrax
I would have rather had MK Rebirth as a movie, than the new MK movie we got. Also, this is the first time I heard of Hydro. Learn something new everyday.

Dude HYDRO, human form, has always been my favorite, rain was suppose to kinda replace hydro, that's why there powers are similar but I'm hoping they will make his a regular character with his own move and power set that rivals rains, he's a navy colored ninja with sometimes having two twin njnjatos on his hack, he is bi hans best friend but I think he's more skilled and more powerful, he uses water as a force like the water benders in avatar but even more, can't wait to see some water based insane fatalities, they should make rain more full on lightning kinda like raiden and give our fav navy badass all the water moves and powers hell ya !!!!!! ! !

Kinda interesting to know that Hydro could manipulate the temperature, kinda makes you think that technically speaking he could ether freeze and more scald a opponent in boiling water. It's a shame that he has been away ingames of Mk but I'm at least glad they are staying true with including consumables with some lesser known characters.
YES FINALLY WE GETTING A HYDRO VIDEO
The reason why we don’t see these ninjas anymore like hydro and tremor and why rain, ermac and reptile no longer look like ninjas anymore is because people complained that they were a lot of ninjas in the game, which is a stupid complaint I think, since now the only real ninja (at least until MK11 before making the stupid decision of retconning Hanzo) is scorpion since the Lin Kuei aren’t really ninjas, as stated by Kuay Liang numerous times. Yet all of the “ninja” characters that didn’t change in concept are Lin Kuei. I think I would have made the other former ninjas like tremor, reptile and ermac for example , reformed Shirai Ryu instead of just making them outworlders to make it seem that the both clans are bigger now and that they both have a rivalry and make earthrealm fighters more interesting than just the special forces and the whitelotus being the focus. Just an idea

With Rain as a priest in the new games, I do wonder if we might finally have him in the roaster for the next game. Honestly, they could create a spin-off game about the new war betweens the Shira Ryu and Lin Kuei. Maybe get cybernetic ninjas details on old members of the clan.
I want Hydro to ACTUALLY be made canon AND made into an ACTUAL Mortal Kombat character in ALL future Mortal Kombat games FOR REAL AND FOR GOOD ONE DAY!

I'd love to hear of Hydro's history as told in the comic books.
He's playable in MK REVELATIONS... and pretty powerful if you can use him well enough.
