Thank you for explaining that Merrell have narrowed the shoe at the toes from vapor glove 4. That is why I loved my Vapor Glove 2 but haven't been able to wear the later models. I wish they would improve the width.
Thanks, that's the thing. I'm a Vivo fan, I actually like their soles and quality is just superior, but I can't help it, merrell just fits me better. Bought 4pairs last year to give them a try chance. 2 pairs of move glove, those are keepers they feel great. Then trail glove 5 and Wrapt. They both have to go, with both I have the heel coming out of the shoe, wiggling around, then my toes try to compensate try to grip the shoe... Not good. Not saying it's their fault, I have far from perfect foot shape might be similar to yours. And I have the same problem with vivos, I need that collar padding around ankle, and they tent to have very thin uppers.. I still want to try some of their models but it's becomeing an expensive hobby...
Vivo quality is significantly much worse. At least with merrell you have a Vibram outsole unlike the vivo which is just basic rubber. Also, vivo cost a substantially larger amount than merrell too (in the uk anyway)
Thinking about those as vapor glove 4 are the best shoes i have ever had. Tried vivo and it did not work. VG4 are simply the best shoesr but it is very hard to get the new pair. I love the comfort and feeling everything under my feet.
They'd be too narrow for my big toe too. Little toes are where we feel it, but most people, habituated to narrow shoes, don't even know how much more their big toe could and should be splaying. One or two barefoot shoe companies (Realfoot and Softstar, maybe Bohempia, maybe Luks) understand this and are doing something about it. The rest, if they know about it, are in denial, still trying to look 'normal' as if it's going to mean they have a chance of taking on Nike or something. For flip's sake, stop trying to have it both ways. Make a natural foot shaped shoe or stop pretending that's what you do.
Thanks for posting, I have the 5’s and love them. Was contemplating getting the 6 or a pair of Vivo’s, but in Canada the Vivo’s cost almost 3 times as much. Not sure if it’s worth it as I’ve always loved the Merrell brand and so far I’m so impressed with the 5’s. Thanks for the follow up review.
I have the 5 and 6, I really love the grip on the 6 but also like the more flat sole on the five which feels a bit more barefoot. Overall the shoes are pretty similar, I also didn't like the sock style on the 5
I'm still undecided about mine. The grip is awesome and they're definitely light and comfortable, I just have a feeling durability wise the upper isn't going to last. I'm really a fan of xeros offerings lately. I really want a pair of mesa trails when my trail glove 4s are done.
The upper durability could be suspect but I'm ok with it because it's just so light flexible and breathable. We'll see long term how they hold up. I got Mesa Trail 1 during the huge discount and they have the 2s in black also discounted now on the EU website.
@@CptAngelADVlogs Do you use vapor gloves for hiking? I just worry I'm going to rip these to shreds on more rough trails. Those mesa 1s I've been scouring ebay for a discounted deal since 2s came out but no luck lol.
@@studentofphysicalculture For long and gnarly hikes the Mesa Trail would be much better because of the bigger lugs and insole. Haven't done any proper hikes in the VG6 but yeah you need a tougher shoe if you're gonna hike in them all the time. The VG4s have an indestructible cordura upper and you can find them cheap if you look around.
2 months now with these shoes. Only con that i found the grip is too strong 😅 lugs collect tiny rocks a lot and you have to clean them properly before entering a house. So far i cannot see any wear. Vibram soles are insane.
One thing I don’t like about the 6’s is the outsole. Pebbles keep getting stuck in between the lugs and they’re hard to get out. Other than that they’re the most comfy barefoot shoes I’ve had.
Well I ended up with the vg6 in the end an I'm rather disappointed. The shoe fits and feels great but they are not going to last long at all. I have done a 5km walk, 5km run and a half marathon race and I've already worn down the lugs on the right shoe. Considering I got 700 km out of my vg3 the vg6 sole is wearing down after only 31km. This is terrible!
Yeah like I said on the first video the durability is suspect. Those thin flexible lugs are not meant to take long lasting punishment, especially on concrete and the uppers are not tough at all (but at least they're super flexible).
Just curious, is there anything in the Vivobarefoot lineup you would compare these to? If ao, would you say these are better overall? Thanks for the vid!
Those are a lot more fun than any Vivo shoe. The sole is a lot better and they're lighter and more flexible. I also have primus lite 3 knit version just because it looks good, but I far prefer the VGs
@CptAngelADVlogs Awesome! Thanks a lot for the reply. I appreciate how honest and straightforward you are in your reviews. Here's to your channel! I hope it continues to grow. Thanks again! 🍻👍
Would you say these are good for running? I can get Xero Zelen's for the same price and I'm kind of leaning towards those right now. What is the arch like on this one?
I'd get the Zelens for running because they also have an insole to help you out and they're wider. Also the sole should last longer. Some people say the VG have a bit of an arch but I think it's just the how the sole is shaped and it breaks down as you wear the shoe.
Do they feel like they press a little on your big toe? I ordered 2 different sizes and both of them make me feel like someone is pressing my big toe nail with his fingers together. The rubber presses somehow. If you had the same issues, does this go away?
They're not supposed to be warm they're supposed to be super breathable. And also any shoe with a thin sole will not be warm in the winter because the cold comes in through the ground. If your winters are not cold at all you will be fine.
@@ScrubDaddy265 Vivos are also narrow. Xero are flexible so they feel wider than they are. But yeah if Merrel had made those as wide as the 3s they would be perfect.
That sole, while more grippy than the previous generations of the vapor glove is faaar less durable. Those soft spaced out rubber lugs will wear down and after that you have a hole in your shoe. It's not a good trade off and it feels like a change that they made just to point to it and say "look here we changed this!" it's frankly poor design and it shows that they really have no vision or direction for what this shoe is even supposed to be which SHOULD BE their most minimal barefoot style shoe with an emphasis on durability where it matters most ie the sole of the shoe. Without adding anything that is going to take away from the complete barefoot feeling of the shoe. Its supposed to be a slipper with a vibram sole on the bottom. They already have the trail glove available to fill that niche. Idk wtf they are doing over there on the design team at Merrell man...
@@Jessie-vu8ns I know they won't last long I've mentioned that since my first video on them. They've rebranded them as trail shoes. The Trail Gloves are thicker, stiffer, heavier and narrower so they're not really the same. They should make a new version for road running like they used to have.

Yeah it's idiotic since it doesn't improve the look anyway

@@TheDevilsRaspberry Thanks! Keep in mind it's always a bit subjective. Many people swear by Vivos. You need to try things out for yourself.
My was destroy after 2 months. Baddest shoes ever
How would you compare the Vibram outsole of these to Vivobarefoot Michelin ESC outsole?
That's like comparing an F1 car to an SUV..
One is hyper flexible and low to the ground the other has big lugs for mud snow etc.
hello brother thank you for informative videos and which number are you wearing for vapor 6 and what is your foot's length as cm's??
Size EU45. Foot length 27.5 cm

@@CptAngelADVlogs hm shit ok. Thanks for the info. I'm a little afraid that this will end up in pain. Never had these issues on my old version 3
@@mexmax1657 That's strange. I'd say the 3s are wider on the outer side but the big toe gets a similar fit. They should get comfortable with time
Are these shoes warm enough to wear during soft winters?
They're not supposed to be warm they're supposed to be super breathable. And also any shoe with a thin sole will not be warm in the winter because the cold comes in through the ground. If your winters are not cold at all you will be fine.
Looks like you need to go up a half size based on the toe box feel and how it fits at the ankle.
They would be too long and loose if I did. Those are already half a size up from my 3s that fit perfectly. They're just narrow.
@@CptAngelADVlogs Bummer. You need to wear Vivos or maybe Xeros then. I do wish Merrell would stop messing with the design of these things.

What if you buy a size bigger?
Just got half a size bigger. Still tight on the small toe but I hope it will break in. If I go even bigger they will be too long.
hi, is it broken in already?
No unfortunately they still bother my toe. I'm not wearing them much anymore they're just annoying :/
