      Hello @GabeCuello Would you recommend this shoes as everyday walking shoes? Not really too intense, mainly shoes for walking my dogss or mall walking. Mainly asking for its durability? Glue coming undone or holes on the upper mesh? Hope you can give me your opinion. Thanks!

    Merrell peaked at the trail glove 4. But even at that point there was too much arch support. I'm in the process of switching to vivobarefoots away from merrell's and other almost barefoot shoes

    Merrell Glove series also nice for driving shoes that could feel the pedal stroke how much I put in or off.
    As I know Merrell is my best brand for fitting, tracking, gliping, flexibility and so on although I still keep some of Hoka
    and was used to own the other brands like mostly NB and UA.

    I should've watched some reviews of this shoe before ordering a pair (after recently returning to running). I found the arch support in the Trail Glove 6 to be super annoying, found them a bit constrictive (even with the correct size), and well...they just don't feel very minimalist to me. I'd give them more like 2 stars out of 5. Not for me, unfortunately.

  • @tropicallyfit

    Beyond RIDICULOUS that silly people put arch supports into shoes. Mother Nature gave me all the arch support I need. NO to shoe coffins!!

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recently watched a video documentary explaining why and while I agree with you, some people need them to sustain the errors of years in poor shoe and walking patterns.
      Honestly, not many people can deal with the lack of support and easily complain on how it's not "comfortable". Duh, right? Their transitioning to a more natural feel.
      I suppose these shoes are intended to help people transition into that natural feel. Again, I'm on board with using what we have and not puttingin arch support, especially these shoes. It's just too high.
      That's why I got the Vapor Glove and Loooove them! Will be reviewing that one next in case you're interested or curious.

    what's your opinion about the choice between glove 5 or 6 ?

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! I did try the glove 5 and had owned the TG2 for a while. This new one is by far better in fit and style. The arch support is the same or slightly milder than the TG5.
      This toe box is somewhat narrower than the TG5 for sure. The TG6 is more durable in fabric and outer mesh BUT as I mentioned in the video, the glue isn't that great. Still, for me and my needs, the TG6 is better.
      As you wear the shoe over time they do get more flexible and the arch support gets milder. A solution to not experience much discomfort in the midsole is to not tie the shoe so tight. Hope this helps :)

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's great for all of those activities. It has the traction you need and flexibility for foot/toe movement (especially on a bike).
      However, I wouldn't recommend these for that. My opinion of course. I'd suggest something that covers your ankles some or get shoes that offer more padding for those type of activities.
      I'm currently working on making a review on another barefoot shoe and brand that may better suited for you. If you're interested, check out the channel in a about a month or consider subscribing to be notified.

    Thank you for the video, Gabe. I was thinking about Merrell Glove 6 as I used to love their other non-barefoot shoes, yet the quality issues with all of their products have made me look elsewhere. It is sad that they are not paying attention to it and I am not sure why because about a decade ago they used to make really durable footwear. It is as if they are designed to fail after a short period of time - planned obsolescence?

      Hey thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts. I am curious to know if that's true as well. It makes total sense.

      I was not a fan of the 4th model and eventually gave up on the 5th. The 2nd and 3rd models were my favorites.

    Hi Gabe,
    my problem with shoes is exactly this: 3:48
    Do you know shoes good for trails, that have a completely flat sole? Im not even looking for barefoot.

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! By flat sole, do you mean zero drop or no treads (trail design) or no support at all?
      I don't wear trails much besides these or the New Balance Minimus shoes. I want to try the Bare Access shoe but they currently don't have my size. That's a great trail running, zero drop shoe I hear.
      The New Balance minimus shoe is still my favorite for trails (when ever I end up on one) and road surfaces. The issue with this shoe is that it is not zero drop (4mm) and it does have a very mild arch support. Fits and looks great too.
      Let me know more on what your thinking and I will do my best to assist.

    • @felhasnalo
      @felhasnalo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GabeCuello Thanks for the answer, my specific problem with shoes is that their toe box curl up, so the whole foot is not 100% on the surface. What you said at 3:48
      I have Altras which are "zero drop", but they are curved insanely. It's probably good for running, but i can't find any shoes for hiking with a 100% flat sole. Barefoot shoes are the closest, but my feet are very problematic, so i can't use barefoot shoes.

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see. I think they only shoe that may be flat is the Xero shoes but like you said, that's a barefoot shoe.
      If I see anything, I'll make sure to let you know. If you're open to messaging me on IG, I'll direct message you back on what I might find. I do have some running (road) shoes coming in Friday by TOPO Athletics and will try it out on mild trails.
      If I like em, I'll review them and if your here, check that out. It's also a zero drop shoe. It has that slight curve on the tip but we will see how it looks/feels worn.

      @@GabeCuello Thanks i will check it out. I bought these merrels now, the support is very good for my problematic feet (i have lateral flat feet, very rare), the only problem is that the big toe isnt on the ground, because of the curved tip...
      I dont understand why shoe makers want to overwrite 5 mil years evolution, toes should be on the ground imo, especially in a barefoot shoe...
      Even my Fivefingers toes are a bit curved up, so i need to use extra pressure to grab the ground with my toes.

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  ปีที่แล้ว

      Given its rubber outsole, I say yes. I never did those events before, but my guess is that it will do well.
      However, it also depends on your minimalist experience. Might not be as comfortable for you if you're new to barefoot/minimal style shoes.
      Xeors are a similar style and may be better for comfort and flexibility. These gloves are a bit too stiff for me. I wish it was like their previous models.

    Hi. My feet are sized US8.5. For this kind of shoe, should I get 8.5 or 9? 8.5 fits like a glove. 9 has some wiggle room. What should be the basis for choosing sizes on this kind of shoe?

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that your typical/general shoe size (8.5)? Or is that the TG5 shoe size? Also are your feet wide or neutral? Mine are neutral/narrow. I usually wear 10.5 on most foot wear but this one was a size 10 (fits great and is snug). However, while it is Merrell and "barefoot", their Vapor Glove 5 is a size 10.5 and that one fits perfectly.

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it depends. If your run a lot then sooner of course (2-5 months if 10-15 miles a week road- trails) but if stationary (gym, yoga, plyo; mostly indoor) it should last a while. These shoes specifically are durable (the rubber) but the glue is poor.
      It could have been a defective shoe I had but I hear it from other viewers and consumers say the same. I hope they improve the next model though.
