  • This easy DIY toy box is fairly simple to make. I have made a couple of toy boxes so I used my lernings from those projects to make this easier. As I build the toy box I share any mistakes I made and how I corrected them. I kept count of my Boo Boos! This toy box also has wheels.
    Below is a partial lise of materials and tools used.
    1/2" plywood -

    1x4's, 1x3's, wheels and the piano hinge were purchased at Home Depot
    Pocket hole Jig. There are less expensive ones but I've been very happy with mine. This is the new version.

    My grandbaby will be turning 1 next month and this would be the perfect birthday present for her and all her toys! I look forward to helping my hubs build it!

    Yes, very encouraging. The great thing about wood is that you can always fix a boo-boo.
    It would be real helpful to comment on about how many hours of construction a project took, to help viewers decide whether to try to replicate it for ourselves.

      Thank you. It took about 6-8 hours. I’ll try to mention that on my next video. I will go back and add it to the description.

    This is one of the best videos I've found for a basic toy box. I am curious if you have any estimation on how much the finished box weighs? I would want something similar without the wheels but am concerned about overall weight.

      @Ray_Here  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I have no idea what the weight is. They actually didn’t use the wheels. It’s not too heavy. Because of the size, it took two of us to load it into their SUV. Being able to slide in on the floor isn’t an issue. Of course, It will depend on the type of toys you store. Thanks again!

    Great Video! First time seeing one of your videos. If I can ask, what method did you use to attach the lid to the chest?

      I used a piano hinge. I think I covered that toward the end of the video. Thanks for watching and commenting. If you have any more questions, let me know. I have a lot of DIY videos. Check them out!

    Great video, really appreciate seeing your mistakes. You mentioned at the end adding soft-close hinges. How would that work with the piano hinge?

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The soft close goes on the inside to prevent little fingers from getting squashed. It works great with the piano hinge.

    Really want to find those 90° corner clamps and the ones you applied around the top of the box too to keep it square. They’re excellent

      You can get them at a Rockler store or at Rockler.com. I think I saw an email today. They are 25% off. Still not cheap, but worth it. You want what’s called the cabinet makers bundle. Good luck!

      @@Ray_Herewow, thank you for the quick reply Ray! I’m currently about 3/4 of the way through building a Toy Box for my daughter, a little different to this but with much of the same processes involved and you’ve offered some fabulous tips!
      Sadly I’m in the UK, so I’ll use the information you’ve given me and try and find an alternative over this side of the pond!
      Thanks again - you’ve gained a new subscriber and I look forward to seeing more of your content

      I hope you find something! I appreciate your comments and I love hearing from the UK. As I write this, I’m working on a hiking video. You might want to watch for it. I think it’s always interesting to see the different types of places we have to hike vs over there. Both are beautiful but in different ways. I watch a lot of. “Wild camping” videos from TH-camrs in your neck of the woods.

    It’s best not too add pocket holes against the board’s grain because of expansion and contraction.

    Hi sir
    I love your videos, you make great content. But your channel has less video views, if you run SEO and google ads on your videos, the views will increase. I will help you grow your channel if you want.
