Here for Kyla! Her voice is so beautiful and pleasing to the ear. I'm glad you recognize that Filipino artists can collaborate and make the most beautiful music. No ego, no headliner mentality...just make music. You will grow old discovering all of the talent my country has to offer.🇵🇭❤️🌟
Yes true. Actually Filipinos always a run away winners bringing home almost all medals especially gold in WCOPA international music competition, like a music Olympics
Klarisse de Guzman's performances in "your face sounds familiar" are just spectacular. She nailed every singer she mimicked. Mariah, patti labelle, minnie ripperton, aretha franklin and local divas. Trust me it will blow your mind since you are familiar with the singers and songs
Kyla was (for me) one of the out-of-the-box singers when I was younger. At the time, ballads and operatic singing styles with the big belting moments was the mainstream in our part of the Philippines. The first time I heard Filipino RNB was with Kyla and Jay-R. Up until that point, I never knew people (aside from Mariah and Whitney) could sing like that. ❤ Even now with more of the new generation of Filipino singers exploring the world of runs, Kyla still holds that special place in my heart ❤️
Hahaha yes, very cool idea. It will open the minds of @Throga to alternatives to stalking the Wish Bus to backyard karaoke over beers and chicherias or kakanin. 😂
39:50 We know a lot of American artists (from 60-90's) because of our parents who also grew up listening to them from our grandparents. 😅 Here in the province in PH, before internet and SocMed was a thing (during 90's) we always listen to our parents favorite FM radio station and they mostly play songs from American artists. And every Sunday, they have this 'Oldies but Goodies' segment where they play hit songs from the past. And they could back as far as 60's music. (Imagine that 😁) So, most us that are kids that time, we already knew James Ingram, Paul Anka, Kenny Roger, Michael Bolton ,Peter Cetera etc. 😅😅
"I feel like we can just take all the singers we have listened to from the Philippines so far, just throw a ball at, like, three or four random (people), and they'd come together and make the most epic, amazing version of that song." That's what the Sunday variety shows are, in a nutshell. (ASAP and SOP)
Sam Mangubat- duet with Katrina in I Turn To You. Moira- Paubaya, the official MV and Wish Bus duet with December Avenue. You have to watch Limuel Llanes and ( ordinary) friends in Thats What Friends Are For! Will blow your mind. Thanks, as usual!
Please react to KZ' version of, Close to You by Karen Carpenter, and witness how she showcased her skill in mouth trumpeting. It's the most unique version of the song.
Filipinos singing training is to stringent that karaoke has been raise into national isaue and law has been imllemented to cut time limits ro be until 10 pm cause pinoys will si g all rhru out the night causing public disturnance thus needs to be regulated
Love beautiful Kyla and her beautiful voice! The runs and riffsof Filipinos is off the charts. She and Daryl are dizzying, in the best way. Darren, Klarisse and Jona are masterfully good! Superb all of them!
Hi... First time here on your comment box, but I've been watching all your reactions on Filipino singers, which is I'm thankful of, because most of filipino singers are not recognize or I should say, don't have a break on the "INTERNATIONAL STAGE"... That's why I really THANK YOU for this platform to recognize all OUR GREAT SINGERS here from the PHILIPPINES ❤❤❤❤❤
i really love Jona and it's sad to see that she's so underappreciated coz i think the vocal trinity as of now are mori, gigi, and kat. i mean, yeah, the three are monsters but Jona needs as much recognition as well.
kyla did a version of james ingram's "i don't have the heart" and michael jackson's "human nature" and she made them her own. she's mastered the whispery, airy vocals popularized by mariah in the 90s. kyla's first and third albums lean towards hip hop and r&b.
Ah yes those videos of parties or hangouts at the beach where a karaoke machine is going and a group of people (friends, relatives maybe strangers too) line up and the mic is passed from one to the next one to sing just one or two lines of the song. What's that "game" called?
The feeling you got when you said Jona felt authentic singing that Mariah Carey song is actually a testament to the original composition as everything Jona did in that My Saving Grace performance was copied almost to a T from Mariah's studio version, save for some changes in the placements of high notes near the end because she can't really replicate (not that she has to) the same quality of notes that Mariah did in the recording. Doesn't take from the fact that she is an incredible singer of course since she made you feel what you felt.
For Moira Dela Torre, and for a bit of laughter, watch "Perfect by Moira and Jason". Watch this as the additional last song you react to. Take note that Jason accidentally spits on her face, then listen to how she retaliates at the end. Have a good laugh you guys. 😅😊❤
Kyla said in an interview that part of her vocal training when she was a kid was singing neck deep in a water drum/barrel. The most famous student of this kind of training is Regine. I wonder if you ever had a chance to look into the possible benefits of this kind of vocal training from a physiologic standpoint.
The obvious idea behind it is the water pressure creates resistance on your chest, ribcage, diaphragm, abs etc. You become aware of which muscles to activate for good breathing and for support. There are many other exercises for this but the barrel story sounds fun in interviews.
Here are my suggestions: 1. Undeniable (Kyla & Jay-R), 2. At Ang Hirap (Angeline Quinto), 3. Ikaw Ay Ako (Klarisse & Morissette), 4. Panalo (EZ Mil), 5. Baby one more time (Regine Velasquez), 6. Ikaw (Yeng Constantino), 7. Points of view (Jayda & Jessa), 8. Buwan (Janine Berdin & Sarah G), 9. Amakabogera (Maymay Entrata). 10. Wonderful tonight (Elha Nympha)
Im here for Jona ✨ This is just the first time I saw Kyla and Daryl Ong's weak my gosh it feels like im riding a roller coaster those riffs are fire! THat is also why i Love Jona she always sing to express not to impress totally agree with you. She doesnt over sing. She's soulful and her belts are still pleasant to the ears. What I also like about to Jona she sings exactly like the recording a testament also from one of her producers ✨
I cannot take my eyes off of Richard when Kyla is doing her rifts on Weak. At some point I wished to have an Xray vision to see how his brain is doing lol.
I’ve been watching your reactions to Filipino artists I appreciate it.When you get back to Morissette react to her Digital concert it’s a little bit longer but worth watching.Thank you Johnny and Richardfor your support to Filipino talent.
Ah Kyla, she’s just so great and I’ve listened to her a lot during the peak of her career in the early 2000s.. hearing her again somehow reminds me of Ariana Grande - the soulfulness is so rich. I also remember Regine Velasquez sung her rendition of On the Wings of Love - when you get a chance to listen to her again, I suggest you look it up too! Kyla has a song with Gary V - Can We Just Stop and Talk Awhile - please listen to it next too.
Thank you for another wonderful Friday. FYI, here on.4th of July we celebrate Philippine American Friendship Day. It was previously called Independence Day (as granted by the U.S. to Phil. in 1946) but was later changed to June 12, referring to original independence from Spain. Have a nice holiday weekend!
I think Filipino singers are good at blending their voices so harmonizing is a strong suit among professional singers if not among all Filipino who loves to sing…. In the Philippines most of the variety live shows are truly live so the singers are singing live as in live …I hope you’ll be able to react to Filipino crowds in concerts
Another great stream, guys. Did you know that Klarisse and Morissette were both on Voice Philippines 2013 together on Sarah Geronimo's team. In fact, I think it was Klarisse who knocked Morissette out of the competition. Talk about an amazing collection of talent. Moira Dela Torre and Dave Lamar (Morissette's husband) were also in that competition. Klarisse was the runner up and it was won by a guy by the name of Mitoy Yonting.
Hundredths of filipino talents...singing, dancing...even ordinary filipinos singing evergwhere in malls, schools, offices, streets, homes esp when doing household chores or bathing, swimming, so much more. Also react on filipino crowds during concerts of international singers & bands. Speaking of bands we've so much here to offer.
Here I am! Yeeey!!! Parteeey!!! (too much caffeine, methinks) Much love fr SoCal! Next Friday, pls- Arthur Nery and Janine Teñoso perform “Pelikula” LIVE on Wish 107.5 Bus
Yeah! KZs version of the song "Close to You" in her concert. Pls check it out as well as her rendition of "Say something" in The Singer 2018 in China. Thanks!
Richard and Johnny may i suggest again some of the most under rated singers...the Divas of the Queendom! This group is composed of individually talented and accomplished singers: Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Jessica Villarubin, Thea Astley, Hannah Precillas and Mariane Osabel. Thanks.
Missioned Souls - They're talented, esp the little drummer boy. It's admirable the family plays together. They're *NOT* great singers, though. They don't have the passion and energy for singing you see in Filipino kids competing in singing contests. They're ok for one watch. A fun band to react to is Lola Amour doing "Raining In Manila" on the Wish Bus. They clearly enjoy each other's company!
How about Mori duets: With Darren (I'llbe there), Regine (Creep, Mariah medley), Jason Dy (Diyan ba sa Langit), KZ (Pero Atik Ra) , Lani (somewhere over the rainbow), Klarisse (ikaw ay ako), Jona, Michael Bolton ( how am I supposed to live without you), Jamie Miller, Gigi (Toni Braxton medley)
funny you mentioned mj and darren have different set of skills-mj with songwriting and performance and darren with vocal skills… one of darren’s music inspiration is mj actually and darren is called d’ total performer (other moniker is asia’s pop heartthrob) because darren is an all around genius performer, he’s not just good in singing, he’s good in dancing too and he acts now as well (bonus he has skills in hosting) he can do a lot more aside from the ones i mentioned, he’s that talented. and because of that i hope u can react to more of darren especially the ones he sings and dances. he just did a sold out concert for his 10th year anniversary called D10 so i suggest to watch clips from that concert ❤
For Katrina Wednesday, please include her "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" live gig @ MusicHall MetroWalk, on July 4, 2018, where she donned a white sleeveless vest. Thanks!
I heard JONA sang live when I was a student and the quality of her voice is the same as like it was recorded. You could tell how kind she was also as there was a vlogger who came to the Philippines years ago from UK and he wished to sing with her, she granted his request and even recorded it in the studio.❤
please react to JONA, MORISSETTE, KLARISSE - Let It Be, Someone You Loved, Memories (Gabay Guro) and WHAT'S UP (4 Non Blondes) Acoustic cover by Klarisse De Guzman Thank you!
Would love to see your reaction (esp. Johnny's) to KZ's longer bit with the ‘mouth trumpet’ in a live performance. Search for: ‘Touching Message to her Family / Close To You (+ Hidden Talent) - [Supreme KZ Tandingan Concert]” by Mon Jahrenel. song starts at around 5 mins 39 secs in.
Aloha Richard and Johnny! I love Darren and wasn’t familiar with any of his later works, so mahalo for having him on here. Love Tell Him by Jona Viray; beautiful melody and I never heard that song before. Dan Vasc and Pitta (forestella) also does the Phantom of the Opera and they are both great versions too!
Another band similar to Ben & Ben vibe is THE JUANS. They write their own songs. HINDI TAYO PUWEDE is a huge hit. BACK HOME is a beautiful song. Morisette & Gigi sang with them, video is called Morissette, Gigi, The Juans Join Voices in World-class Collab. Pls chk it out, so good!
You said u were going to react to Morissette & Gigi collab, which is their Toni Braxton medley. Original video is gone unfortunately, there are 2 channels that copied it but they put a green screen. The better video is on Songbird Karaoke channel. The video on Soapbox PH is not a good at all. You will enjoy this performance of these 2 Queens! ❤
By the way, Jona and Klarisse have sung together many times. In 2016 and 2017 they were part of a featured group on ASAP called Birit Queens which also included Morissette and Angeline Quinto, and continued to sing together in trios and ensembles after that.
THANK YOU for watching! If you enjoy this video, please hit LIKE and SUBSCRIBE or buy us a coffee at buymeacoffee.com/throga

Include Katrina Velarde’s “Latin Medley” in your list, please. Thank you!
An absolute must
