But he was a deadbeat father who didn't leave a dollar for none of his 3 bio kids, nor for his 1st wife Karen who truly loved him and accepted his 3 children and went through all that bullshit with him, which proves that he didnt care about no1 else other than his pathetic ass,he was talented, but i cannot support a man who moved fucked up like teddy,i liked him as a human being ,but hated his persona/ways.He was a handsome black man on the outside, but on the inside he was ugly. All those "accidents" and mishaps that followed him i suspect was God's way of trying to get teddy to humble himself and rethink his actions and life and to do right by his children & Karen b4 it became too late for him,but i guess he just didnt care.No wonder the Black community is so broken and messed up etc.because of some stupid women and men like him.SMH😰

I won't say really he lost some of the ability to his voice we must also remember that when you grow up there are some changes to the voice and was 2001 when this interview was done and the man was old by that time not young .

When you sing, the sound should come from your diaghpram, which is below your lungs. Sitting down hinders this, so of course there is a lack of power behind his voice after his accident. But Teddy is still the man!

I'm amazed about the way that Teddy spoke. A lot of singers sing, but when they do interviews, you soon find out that they can't speak well. Teddy was so eloquent and intelligent. When you realize where he grew up, it's even more amazing. Out of the pits of Philadelphia this amazing man grew into an amazing person. Even more amazing is the fact that he came back from a place that few of us could ever come back from. He was on his way to reaching even higher goals; he was a sex symbol; he was funny and full of life; he was a good son. I'm not sure I would be able to get back even 1% of what he did after such a devastating accident. Curtis Mayfield is another soldier. Teddy was a great man before his accident, and an even greater man after. I'm so sorry we didn't have him for a longer time. I can't think of another singer today who has a voice as provoking as Teddy's.

God how I loved this man. I went to one of his concerts about 1982, and when he came out on stage me and about 30 other young women ran to the foot of the stage, and I made sure I was in the front. I don't know his height, 6ft+, but he was tall and elegant, like a Cadillac, and sang songs that made you melt. I don't know if there is a category of King of Love songs, but he sure would have won. Even hearing him here on this video still brought chills to me. He still had it. I was devastated when I heard of his car accident, and very sad of his passing. Thank you for this video, because I hadn't seen or heard much about how his life was going after his accident. I do feel that he had gotten his life together, that God had been working with him, to face his fears, and it had humbled him. I guess all I can say is I appreciate the season of his life, that he brought love to us, and anyone who gives love, can only go where the God of love, resides.✌❤Teddy

My friends Keiko and Glen and I used to catch Teddy whenever he performed in Philly--our hometown and his! He would also patronize other local acts. We knew him well enough to sit with him when he was there to catch someone else's act like the O'Jays or Gil Scott Heron. There are no words to describe his magnetism, not to mention the distinctive voice. He was so charismatic and truly genuine and down to earth. A fun person to be with: kind, generous, loving. He was such an exceptional man. I am speechless. As a performer, he was something. I watched the documentary, he caught my breath away. I have never set my eyes on such a gorgeus man. He has all his charisma left. I just fell in love with his soul when I saw the film. His singing was unbelievable, he truly was the black Elvis.

My God was I in love with this man. Still love him. He was the best, sexy and oh that voice! We lost one of the greatest, along with Sam Cooke, MJ, Marvin, The O'Jays, Prince. Now those were true artists, which we will never probably see in our lifetime. These days everything is so phony and is a big spectacular production. These men did not need that they just stood on stage and sang their hearts out.
