    quick question for you... I'm driving to Douglasville GA from Detroit near the end of this month, I'm planning to stop in Louisville, KY. Spend the night there, hangout there, then continue to Douglasville from there. I have to go through Nashville, TN in order to get there. I'm thinking about stopping in both Nashville and Chatanooga. For a "on a roadtrip" style stop in Nashville, what would you recommend I visit? I was thinking TSU, and the Alkebu Lan Images bookstore to pick up some African Nalia while there, however I want to make an iconic stop, I will have my son with me. That new attraction at the end, National musuem of African American Music looks pretty dope but you kinda skipped pass that one in the video.. LOL

    • @MealsandMiles01
      @MealsandMiles01  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say definitely go to the bookstore because it's a staple in the community. TSU is literally across the street and Fisk is right down the street. I've heard the museum is dope so definitely check that out. You can grab slim and husky and princess chicken as it's in the same complex as the museum.

      Downtown is really expensive. I would say by the airport, east Nashville, Brentwood area. Close to the city without the outrageous prices.

    This is racist. If I made a white owned one you'd all flip a shit.
    The breakfast place really does have good service tho. I'm not going to lie.

    • @MealsandMiles01
      @MealsandMiles01  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well Hello! No, I wouldn't flip that because its Nashville and mostly everything is white owned, lmao. Nashville is literally marketed as Country Music capital. It's not marketed towards minorities at all. Don't believe me? Why was it such a big deal for Slim and Husky to be the first black owned business on Broadway? Then Prince's Chicken on Broadway. Oh and let's not forget how major it is for the National African American Music Museum to be on Broadway. All happened in 2021. Literally everywhere on the news when it happened. It's never been done before.
      You took something positive and tried to make it a negative and that's cool. That's on you. There are people who want to know how and where to support black owned businesses when visiting Nashville. I've literally had people say they didn't think there were many black people or minorities in Nashville.
      Oh by the way, check out my brunching in Nashville video with all very white owned businesses while eating with my very white good friend. Please don't ever try to say something is racist without doing your research. I love supporting everyone. Always have and always will.
      Have an amazing day!

      This is not racist, learn what the word means. And most of any other similar videos on TH-cam are "white owned" and do you know why...because white owned is the majority and when things are they majority it rarely requires highlighting the fact. You sound like the people that hear Black History, Asian/ Pacific Islander history, or Native American history and claim it's racist; it is not. It is the part of American history that does not get highlighted because some of the majority feels it neglects to recognize them in the positive light they desire. Highlighting diversity and inclusion IS NOT racist, not a detriment to any non-minority establishment, nor a threat to the majority.
      If the breakfast spot has good service, simply say so and go about your day. But highlighting minority businesses is not racist. Painting such highlighting as a detriment or an insinuation of inferiority of another is...I'm not gone lie.
      Love that this video highlighted parts of Nashville that aren't often highlighted or publicized. Keep the content coming Meals and Miles!

      @@leont5958 it most certainly is. Race based advertisement is using race as a competitive edge to get ahead of the competition (to use your race to get ahead of other races businesses). If you truly want equality, you keep race out. "Black owned buisness" is a disingenuous way to attract sales. It doesn't reflect products or quality, just race. I will go right on back to If "white owned buisness" showed up people would bitch about segregation, double standards, white and black water fountains etc. To stand defensively on this hill is both morally and ethnically hypocritical.
      Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't care less what race of person owns an establishment as long as the service and quality are solid. Idk what the purpose of the little sticker or pin "look at me I'm this!" has. If anything it's a total turn off. Its almost like saying... "look I can do what everyone else can do.... only I'm black" but at the same time saying "treat me special! My skin is the special pigmentation!" Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's wrong. Period

      @@RegimentJoker And your response further perpetuates your ignorance to the topic of equality and inclusion. There are many peer articles and research that show color blindness is counterproductive to combating systemic racism, but I don't expect you to have done that research, nor make an effort now. But continue to watch these Meals and Miles videos as they highlight all people and culture, and you may learn a thing or two. I know I have.
